Ver. 1.2.7
Warning:
- This Build Must be Fresh Installed.
Fixed:
- Trakt Continue Watching integration now fits into the same Home/Settings source model instead of mixing randomly with local/Plex/Nuvio rows.
- Continue Watching landscape artwork enrichment was improved so episode cards can use the better Trakt-style landscapes beyond Trakt-only items.
- Continue Watching metadata repair was adjusted to preserve routing IDs and artwork, instead of constantly re-repairing or losing the episode path.
- Local Continue Watching refresh was made less noisy during playback so Home does not keep rebuilding rows while video is active.
- Custom side tab can now exit into Search instead of trapping focus on the side rail.
- Search now has a proper focus landing state, even when there are no recent searches/results yet.
- Home now marks collection folders and catalog folder routes as nested navigation, so the custom side tab hides instead of staying active behind them.
- Inside a Nuvio collection folder, pressing back now pops in the right order:detail view -> collection/catalog sub-route -> folder root -> Home.
- Added local back handling for media/detail routes opened from inside collection folders.
- Nuvio Connect streams now stay scoped to the selected episode instead of showing the whole series.
- Playback cleanup improved when pressing Back/Menu so audio stops faster.
- Sidebar focus can return to Home rows from any side tab icon.
- Sidebar no longer opens Settings just from moving focus back to rows.
- Hero info alignment adjusted to match catalogue rows.
- Profile icon in side tab now opens the profile window.
- Profile window focus no longer stays behind Home4.
- Continue Watching in app now better matches Apple TV Top Shelf.
- Top Shelf artwork selection improved for Continue Watching.
- Bad Metahub logo URL handling fixed.
- Home browsing lag reduced by using local Nuvio snapshots, pagination, and background refresh.
- Blank/late-loading media cards improved while artwork enrichment is pending.
Added:
- Added Continue Watching source selection in Settings so only one source is used instead of merging everything: Local/Plex/Nuvio Connect/Trakt
- Hid provider-specific Continue Watching choices when that provider is not connected.
- Hid provider-specific Settings tabs/options for Plex/Nuvio when they are not connected, while still keeping connect options visible.
- New side tab style.
- Settings option to switch between original sidebar and new side tab.
- Profile picker / add profile / manage profile / edit profile flow.
- Local Nuvio Home snapshot store.
- Nuvio stream episode-scope unit test.
- Trakt enabled in Settings for testing.
- Continue Watching/Top Shelf metadata repair and artwork priority logic.

Upcoming Nuvio Maintenance Notice
Hi everyone,
Nuvio has grown a lot recently, and with all the new users joining and supporting the app, we are upgrading and moving our servers to keep things more stable and scalable going forward.
There will be a maintenance period in July. The exact date will be announced later.
Before the maintenance happens, please make sure you are updated to at least 0.7.9 Beta on Android TV and 0.2.9 Beta on mobile. Desktop and webOS users are also requested to be on the latest version.
These versions include the backend switch support needed for the server move.
Once the switch happens, users on older versions will no longer be able to sync new data to the database. Those versions will become read only, so existing data can still be accessed, but new changes will not sync.
During the switch, users on supported versions will be logged out from all Nuvio clients and will need to log in again. There will also be an expected downtime of around 1–2 hours during the maintenance period.
Your data will not be wiped or affected. Until the switch is completed, Nuvio will either stay read only or stop syncing new data. After the switch is done and you log in again, syncing will continue normally.
Also, the Nuvio backend will be open source in the near future, and users will be able to self host their own backend.
Thank you for supporting and using Nuvio.
👀 Is Vortexo really so good that nobody has any issues? 😅
Things have been very quiet lately, and I'm curious how everyone's experience has been.
• Any bugs you've found? • Features you'd like to see added? • Anything confusing or difficult to use? • What do you like most so far?
Even if everything is working perfectly, I'd love to hear what you're using Vortexo for and what you'd like to see in future updates.
Don't be shy — feedback, bug reports, and feature requests are what help make Vortexo better. 🚀
📢 Lifetime Price Increase Notice
To support ongoing development of Vortexo, the Lifetime plan price will increase to US$150 on July 1, 2026.
If you've been considering Lifetime, you can still purchase it at the current price until June 30, 2026.
Since launch, Vortexo has continued to grow with new features, performance improvements, Nuvio Connect beta, and upcoming Android TV support. The price adjustment helps support future development and maintenance of the platform.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the project so far. ❤️

Fixed collection folders sometimes using incorrect media artwork instead of their configured folder artwork.

I’m testing new animated GIF from Nuvio Collections Cards!!
I’m testing new animated GIF-style artwork for Nuvio Collection cards in Vortexo. The idea is to make landscape cards feel more alive and cinematic instead of only showing static artwork. This will be optional in Settings with different artwork styles: • Default cards — normal background artwork with logo on the card
• Premium cards — cleaner cinematic cards with custom/animated artwork
• Static mode — for users who prefer no motion This is still work in progress, but I wanted to share an early preview. Would you like this added for Nuvio?
React if you like it, or drop feedback below.
Quick update about Trakt!!
Quick update about Trakt:
I found that Trakt integration is currently causing startup lag, focus freezes, and slow browsing for some users. Because of that, I’m temporarily marking Trakt as Under Construction while I rebuild/stabilize that part properly.
Your local Vortexo Continue Watching will still work normally. After app updates, your current local Continue Watching should remain there. You should only lose it if you delete/reinstall the app fresh, clear app data, or switch to a completely fresh install.
For now, Vortexo will keep saving progress locally on the Apple TV, so you can still continue watching without Trakt connected. Trakt will come back once it is stable enough and does not affect the Home screen or playback performance.
Thanks for the patience and feedback. This helps a lot while I keep improving the tvOS version.
Ver. 1.2.3
What’s New:
New first-run onboarding for Plex, Nuvio Connect, Demo Mode, and legal review.
Nuvio Connect now starts only when the user chooses to log in.
Nuvio Connect now supports enabled addons, addon catalogs, synced collection rows, subtitles, and compatible playback sources from the user’s own setup.
Settings has been redesigned with cleaner tvOS glass rows, rounded focus states, and icon tiles.
Playback settings are now organized into Audio, Subtitles, Video, Auto-Skip, and Playback Behavior.
Pro is now focused on higher-quality playback choices: detected 1080p and higher streams require Pro, while 720p and lower streams remain available without Pro.
Trailers, browsing, synced source rows, synced collections, and source sync are available without Pro.
Terms, Privacy, Support, and source responsibility documents are now readable directly inside the app.
What’s Fixed:
Fixed crashes when opening series detail pages from Nuvio/manifest addon metadata.
Fixed season and episode loading for supported metadata addons.
Fixed Home Libraries empty-state messaging when Nuvio is connected but Plex libraries are not available.
Fixed next-episode resolution paths used after playback.
Fixed Settings row focus styling that caused white glow or square side artifacts on tvOS.
Fixed onboarding layout spacing for Apple TV 4K screens.
Fixed legal buttons opening only links instead of readable in-app documents.
Fixed missing logo handling for Nuvio collection landscape artwork.
Improved source picker behavior so higher-quality Pro streams are shown clearly without blocking lower-quality choices.
Improved merged/synced source cache behavior and reduced some home loading delays.
Reduced noisy debug logging during normal app use.

🚀 Nuvio Connect is now available on Apple TV through Vortexo Pro.
I’ve added a new feature called Nuvio Connect to Vortexo.
Nuvio Connect in Vortexo is currently in beta, so features are still being improved, expanded, and tested based on user feedback.
If you already use Nuvio, you can connect your own Nuvio account/setup and let Vortexo sync your enabled manifest URLs into the Apple TV app. This allows Vortexo to show cleaner Home rows, catalogs, metadata, subtitles, and supported playback source options from your own setup.
As far as I know, Nuvio does not currently have an Apple TV App Store app available, so Vortexo is giving Nuvio users a native Apple TV way to connect their own setup.
Current Nuvio Connect support:
• Imports your enabled Nuvio addons
• Shows addon catalogs inside Vortexo
• Supports subtitles from connected manifests
• Supports playback sources when your setup provides them
Coming in the next release:
• Collections support
• Custom stream badges
• Better source labels
• More Apple TV browsing and playback improvements
What it does:
• Connects your own Nuvio setup to Vortexo
• Syncs enabled manifest URLs
• Shows catalogs and metadata in a native Apple TV interface
• Supports source options when your connected setup provides them
• Keeps everything bring-your-own-source
What it does not do:
• Vortexo does not host or provide content
• Vortexo does not include preloaded sources
• Vortexo does not modify your Nuvio account
• Vortexo is not an official Nuvio app
Nuvio Connect is part of Vortexo Pro because it takes ongoing work to build, maintain, test, and keep reliable on Apple TV.
Vortexo Pro plans:
• Monthly: $2.99
• Yearly: $19.99 — best value
• Lifetime: $49.99 — one-time unlock
Vortexo is designed for users who already use Nuvio and want a cleaner Apple TV experience with their own connected setup.
No media is hosted or provided by Vortexo. It’s fully bring-your-own-setup.
