Prévoyant un voyage, j'ai souscrit à un forfait free international.

J'ai le droit à 35Go de data par mois dans un certain nombre de pays.

Alors que je suis dans le train au Kazakhstan, avec une très mauvaise connexion, voilà que je reçois coup sur coup deux sms :

- Le premier m'informe que je suis actuellement au Kirghizistan (c'est faux), et que je ne bénéficie pas des 35Go de data dans ce pays (c'est vrai, mais j'en bénéficie au Kazakhstan et c'est au Kazakhstan que je me trouve).

- Le second m'alerte: je viens de faire une consommation hors forfait de plus de 40€. (Bah oui, 9,70€ de frais par Méga octet utilisé ça monte vite !).

Je téléphone au service free mobile, pour les informer de ce problème.

Ils me donnent le montant exact de mon dépassement : je vais devoir payer environ 70€ de ma poche. Et me confirment que je peux effectivement aller me faire foutre, c'est à moi de payer ils ne feront pas de geste commercial, même s'ils sont tout à fait enclins à croire que je n'ai jamais mis les pieds au Kirghizistan.

Est-ce que quelqu'un a déjà été dans une situation similaire ? Vous aviez dû payer ? Ca me paraît absolument ridicule...

Y a t-il des recours possibles ?

I recently arrived in China. I had no issues finding a free VPN that would work on my mobile phone (protonvpn), however when I downloaded this very same VPN on my laptop it was not working.

From what I've been reading on reddit in the last few days, this seems to be a common issue : many VPNs whose phone version works perfectly have a computer version that is blocked.

In my case, I still managed to get an internet access on my laptop using proton. I figured I should share my technique, especially since I would not be surprised if it also worked with other blocked VPNs.

Here's how I got internet on my laptop :

I actived proton VPN on my smartphone (which was connected to my hotel's wifi). Then I plugged my smartphone to my computer with a USB cable. In my phone's settings, I chose to "share internet via USB". Then, I activated the VPN on my computer (I repeat, the computer version does NOT work for me under normal conditions !).

And that's it. I was able to watch youtube videos/go to reddit/write this post/watch the last episode of the boys on my computer without any issue.

I have no idea why it worked, I know nothing about VPNs. I just know that by following these steps, I get unrestricted internet access and that if I don't follow them, everything is blocked.

If people tell me that this technique does not work for them I guess I'll delete the post haha, but if you're struggling you should try it !
