Alert 'Unable to Charge - Try a different cord'

Something new. About a week ago I got this alert when plugging in my car at home. Unplugged, plugged in, unplugged, plugged in again and I was able to start charging.
I got the same alert yesterday after a road trip. Fortunately no issue connecting to the one remote charger used on the trip.

Do the charger plugs or car port need to cleaned? Should I carry Q-tips with the car? Compressed air?

Anyone else had this issue. Had the car for over a year, just passed 10,000 miles.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

These are the biggest turds in the automotive world!

Acura technician here. These are by far the worst vehicles to ever wear an “Acura” badge.
They continue to fail and our manufacturer support is awful. Techline support have no clue what’s going on with them either.
Major failure and worth Pennies on the dollar after leaving the lot.

Just bought a 2012 ZDX, good deal?

Grabbed a 2012 ZDX with the highest package (advanced?) with 90k miles on it for 7k in dark grey. I figured it was a steal and I needed a new daily driver. Battery, pump, belt, breaks all replaced 5k miles ago as well. Anything I need to know? Is there a way to get apple car play on my new slab? Figured I would just do that, a detail and call it a day.

Hands Free Cruise and OnStar Connect Plus

I just bought a new Type S in March. The purchase came with a three year trial subscription to Hands-Free Cruise and a three month trial subscription to OnStar Connect Plus. Not wanting to pay the OnStar Connect Plus fee after three months, I canceled the plan, then when I got to my car and was driving later, I discovered the Hands-Free Cruise was not working. After many discussions so far with OnStar and Acura, they are saying that since I no longer have a data plan, the Hands-Free Cruise is no longer operational.

I've seen nowhere that an OnStar Connect Plus paid subscription (or over $700) would be required for the bulk of the three year trial subscription to Hands-Free Cruise. I have a case number in with Acura, and I wanted to see if anybody else encountered a similar issue and what they did about it.

Thanks in advance.

Warm weather range

Yesterday, I drove 160 miles and used 46%. Using a battery size of 102kWh, that's 46.92 consumed. 160 / 46.92 gives 3.41mi/kw.

The drive was 60% 55 mph, 20% 70, and the rest a mixture of 35-45. I typically drive 5mph over the limit with the AC set to 72 and ventilated seats on. The outside temp was 85.

Crazy good efficiency (to me, anyway) and makes up for the miserable winter time range. I'm in NC so winter is usually only severe for a few weeks.

ZDX parts, is it really an issue?

Everyone is mentioning parts and how getting them could be an issue, how many people out there actually have issues with their ZDX where a part is needed? I have a 6 year old Tesla and have never needed any part (knock on wood). I have opportunity to get a great price on purchasing a ZDX.

UPS destroyed my rare Acura ZDX VSA/ABS module — months of claims and over $1,500 damage

I want to share a very frustrating experience involving a rare Acura ZDX electronic module, international shipping damage, UPS claim handling, and the real financial consequences that followed.

I own a 2010 Acura ZDX in Europe. As many Acura owners know, some electronic modules for these cars are extremely rare and difficult to source outside the USA.

Last year I sent my original VSA/ABS module to UpFix for repair in the US. The module itself was rare and expensive, but the real nightmare started during the return shipment.

The package eventually arrived to me in Hungary in a severely damaged box. The cardboard was torn and crushed, and inside was my electronic module literally broken apart. The housing was shattered from heavy mechanical impact during shipping.

What made this especially frustrating:

There was no proper “damaged shipment” status in tracking.

Nobody clearly admitted where the damage happened.

UPS claim handling took months.

Communication dragged on endlessly.

I never received transparent information about how much compensation UPS actually paid.

Meanwhile my car remained partially unusable, so I had to search for replacement parts myself.

I then bought another used module on eBay from the US. Including shipping, taxes, customs and installation costs, this became another very expensive gamble. Unfortunately the replacement module turned out to be faulty as well — but only after installation and testing by the workshop.

The seller only allowed a very short complaint window, and because workshop scheduling took too long, I missed the return deadline. So that money was effectively lost too.

At this point the total financial damage is well over $1,500-2,000 USD when combining:

the destroyed original module,

shipping costs,

customs/VAT,

failed replacement module,

installation costs,

additional diagnostic work,

and months of stress and downtime.

The most frustrating part is that as a customer you often feel completely powerless:

shipping companies rarely document damage honestly,

sellers hide behind return deadlines,

and rare automotive electronics are almost impossible to test immediately.

I’m sharing this not as a rage post, but as a warning for anyone dealing with:

rare car electronics,

international shipping,

UPS claims,

Acura/Honda modules,

or expensive used automotive parts.

If you ship rare electronic modules internationally:

overprotect the packaging,

document everything with photos/videos,

insure the shipment if possible,

and test replacement modules immediately.

Because one damaged package can easily turn into a financial disaster.

Thanks for reading.
