Here are some of my favorite content creators that I follow online whom I consider to be whimsical. Who are yours?
Mychal Threets, aka Mychal the Librarian. Legitimately one of the most wholesome people on the internet with some of the coolest shirts, encouraging people to support their local libraries and read more books, and he also encourages mental health, especially after being diagnosed with AuDHD. He is also now the host of the modern YouTube revival of the beloved classic PBS series "Reading Rainbow", which has recently been renewed for 24 new episodes.
David Larbi: an African-British man who encourages finding the joy and happiness in the little things. He makes videos of seemingly mundane things like getting a haircut or walking in the rain or breakfast, but makes charming poems about how it sparks joy.
Alexis Nikole Nelson, Aka The Black Forager: when I tell you I LOVE this woman! Her little "one of these is poison and one is a snack!" jingle gets stuck in my head frequently. I just love learning about different plants from her. She makes it fun and playful.
Sachiko Moore (sachikofairy): A sweet Japanese-American young lady who is living in Japan, she is like if a fairy made a wish to be human. But she is also like a real life Studio Ghibli character. She encourages her viewers to embrace a gentle, slow pace life, indulge in things that makes your inner child happy (she is also a huge lover of the classic Barbie movies) like wearing a tiara for no reason, or picking flowers to make yourself a pretty bouquet for your bedroom or living room, wearing a pretty dress just to go to the market to buy groceries, etc. She is just a delight.
What about you? Do you have any favorite whimsy-based content creators? I'd love to discover more. 💜
