Avis offering ‘Model Guaranteed’ via F1RST?

Avis offering ‘Model Guaranteed’ via F1RST?

Assume no somewhere in the fine print as read a review on r/travel that someone booked a GLS450 and received an XT6, which is not even the same class.

Car rental returned with the “damage” smaller than a pen cap

The one time we don’t pay for full coverage insurance on a rental because the car was being rented for THREE days.

Update:

I found the photos of the car before drop off and sent them with the following email:

Hello Ashniel,

I also wanted to follow up and let you know that I have several photographs that I took of the vehicle at the time I returned it on July 23.

The photographs show multiple angles of the vehicle at the return location, and I do not see the damage referenced in your email visible in my photographs. I have attached the photos for your review. Given these photographs, I would appreciate it if you could identify the exact location of the alleged damage on the vehicle and provide any wider-angle photographs showing that location.
I would also still appreciate clarification regarding when the damage was first identified, what occurred with the vehicle between the time I returned it and the inspection, and what the next steps are from here.

This is what they responded with within 5 minutes of my email:

Hi ____,

Please disregard my email below. It was an error on my part.
There is a small chip on the front screen (on the lower section), however this damage was not done by you.
My sincere apologies for the misjudgement.

Avis Debit/Passport/License problem

I’m planning to rent a car for 3 days from AVIS at LAX airport and drive to the San Diego airport. However, I’ll be staying in San Diego for a month before returning to my home country. Additionally, I have a residence permit from Country A (which I’ve booked and paid for using a debit card issued from that country) and a passport and driving license from Country B. Will they deny my rental? They didn't answer to my calls

Santa Barbara Desk Closed?!

I had a reservation for a car booked months ago. I had put my flight info in the Avis reservation. Last night our flight into Santa Barbara airport was delayed until 1045p, supposed to get in at 9p.

I get to the Avis desk and it is closed up. The people are gone for the day. My lodging was still an hour away. No late night pickup options, no emails, no anything from Avis. Just us standing there without a car to get to our hotel.

Has this happened to anyone else? Why on earth would Avis do this? Is there any recourse?

Terrible customer service experience at Las Vegas airport - a warning for others

Last month I arrived at Las Vegas airport to pick up a car I had booked to rent with Avis. Booking via the app was very easy and I arrived to be told that I was an Avis Preferred member and could proceed downstairs to pick up my vehicle. So far, so good.

I head downstairs to pick up my chosen vehicle only to learn that my chosen vehicle type is not available, not a big deal, happens all the time. This is when things go sideways. The person assisting me tells me that she can upgrade me to an SUV. I say, sure ok, great. (Although I don't really consider this an upgrade since I originally booked an extended range luxury EV, but ok whatever I need a car.) I am then told that if I don't want to be charged extra for this upgrade then me and my companion have to both leave a Google review right now for Avis at this location, including the customer service person's name, and that we have to show both reviews to her before she will proceed. Shocked at this demand I politely inquire what the alternative is if we don't want to meet this demand and I am clearly told that if we don't want to leave a review we can pay more. In the interest of getting out of there, we leave the reviews.

A couple of weeks later I am still shocked at this little extortion and having worked in customer service roles I am surprised that anyone would think this is acceptable. Despite having status with Avis, I will look to alternate providers if I am renting a car from this location again.

How much is the Avis security deposit / authoriazation/credit card hold?

Hello,

I'm renting a car (Toyota Corolla) for 3 days in September at Avis Reno Tahoe International Airport in Nevada and will drop it off 3 days later in Prescott, Arizona. I want to know how much money Avis requzires to be available for the security deposit authorization/credit card hold, because I couldn't find this information anywhere and because I unfortunately cannot reach an agent from the Avis Reno Lake Tahoe International Airport office despite several calls. So I hope that someone here can give me the answer that I need.

Avis nightmare. Anything else I should do before cc dispute

Making a very long story short. Rented a van through Costco with Avis in Orlando in June. Got a flat and had to have it towed. It was the day before we were due to leave so we did not get a replacement vehicle. I was charged almost double my original quote due to them stating I had the van 4 extra days. I was also charged for the damage which I successfully reimbursed through my cap
One venture card.

I have filed 2 different cases with Avis that were not responded to at all. I then filed a case with BBB which also went unanswered. I am just looking to have those extra days reimbursed.

Anything I am missing before I cc dispute?

AVIS Mystery car - 15 passenger van - BNA

First time this has happened to me... I'm Avis preferred, over 5 years, 20+ rentals so far this year. I get mystery because it's always been something reasonable, and I don't especially care as long as it gets me to job sites and back when I travel. Today at BNA, they said the ONLY vehicles available for mystery car are 15 passenger vans. What in the WHISKEY TENNESSEE FLEET is that about?

(Yeah, yeah, I could have selected literally any other tier, but this is still absurd)

Avis in Croatia requesting 5000 Euros deposit

We rented a car from Avis for my son's week vacation. We also purchased insurance all through expedia. When my son went to pick it up he was told the insurance is not in their system, which it was. He was then requested to pay 5000 euros as deposit.

We canceled the car booking and the insurance.

I know the norm is around 200C$ for deposit but this sounded fishy.

I've reported this to Avis and i hope they will look into this.

Help navigating customer service by Kafka?

Looking for any suggestions to deal with this bizarre situation. We reserved and prepaid for a specific class of large vehicle to pick up at PIT airport today. Last night, the location emailed to say it's not available but didnt say what would be available, so we have no idea if we're getting a car that might still be large enough or one that's too small and we're in trouble. Responded to the email twice requesting information but got nothing back. Other rental companies have limited availability, so just canceling isn't a great option. Called the 800 number and the call center says they have no information and the only option is to call the PIT location directly. Called the PIT location 10+ times and each time it doesn't even ring before the call is immediately routed back to the call center, where they tell us again that the only option is to call the PIT location where the phone doesn't ring but just sends you back to the same call center. They tell me there is literally no person in all of Budget who can help us. Does anyone know a way to get through to a person who can provide any assistance?

Avis charged me a hefty one way rental fee and extra days... because their car broke down and they towed it back to a different location.

I'm on the phone with a rep and it sounds like it will probably all be resolved after they review the case, but sheesh!

Our car had a mechanical problem 4 days into our 5 day rental. We were not able to safely drive it back to the originating location (LV), and we were not able to get a replacement car because there was no Avis location within 110+ miles (we were in Moab, UT). The tow guy they called came and picked up the keys from me, and we had to find another way back to the airport.

Fast forward to today, I got a receipt for charges from Avis that includes:

  1. The full original reservation, including the day I wasn't able to use
  2. Charges for 3 additional days (presumably the time it took the tow driver to drop it off in Salt Lake City and for them to process it), and
  3. A $455 fee for a one way rental, apparently because of where they chose to tow it.
  4. All the additional taxes, surcharges, state fees, etc. that go along with those extra charges.

So ridiculous.

That's also the third charge related to this rental showing on my statement, but hopefully that's temporary holds, etc. that will go away?

Again, I'm hopeful that we'll get made whole with hopefully not a ton of headache, but just... WHAT?
