FiiO K11 + Beyerdynamic DT150 250ohm — where's the bass?

Before anyone says "that's how they're meant to sound" or "just EQ it" — hear me out.

I've been producing music on and off for 20+ years. I know what the kick in Prodigy - Their Law (for example) should sound like. I know how the sub layers in Their Law should feel. LOUD in the mix.

Setup: PC (USB) → FiiO K11 → DT150 250ohm via 6.35mm, high gain. Filter 6

Mids and highs sound fantastic. Clean, detailed, great separation. But the bass? The kicks have no thump. The sub layers barely register. Songs I know inside out feel like they're missing their entire low end, like it's been cut off.

It's not the headphones — I played a deep bass boosted tests on YouTube and the sub frequencies came through fine, warm and thick with the correct rumble I expect from these headphones. (Edit: As mentioned below, the bass comes through fine via the motherboard output).

Also worth noting — the K11's line out into my Edifier R1855DB + T5 sub sounds great. Thick, warm, punchy bass. The DAC is clearly doing its job. It's specifically the headphone amp that seems to fall short with the DT150s.

I've tried every filter, every gain setting, checked Windows audio settings (full range speakers was unticked which I've now fixed), turned off all enhancements. Nothing brings the bass to where it should be.

I get that the K11 is "neutral" and "analytical" — but neutral should mean accurate reproduction of what's in the recording, not "missing the bottom end." E.g Liam Howlett didn't mix Fat of the Land expecting people to EQ the bass back in.

Anyone else experienced this with the K11 and high impedance cans? Genuinely curious whether this is a known limitation or whether people have just accepted it as normal.

DT 770 pro selection guide

Here is exactly what those stars mean for each version:

32 Ohms (The Mobile/Casual Version)

Best for:Phones, laptops, tablets, portable audio players, and gaming controllers.

Why: Low impedance means these headphones require very little power to reach high volumes. You can plug them directly into almost anything without needing an external amplifier.

The rating: 3 stars for Mobile, but only 1 star for Studio because they sacrifice a tiny bit of detail and nuance compared to the higher-ohm models.

80 Ohms (The All-Rounder/Studio Standard)

Best for: Audio interfaces, mixing desks, PC setups, and general studio tracking.

Why: This is the most popular "sweet spot" version. They offer a great balance of detailed sound reproduction and power efficiency. They perform best when plugged into a proper audio interface (like a Focusrite Scarlett), but you can still get decent volume out of most modern computers without a dedicated amp.

The rating: 3 stars for Studio, 2 stars for everything else.

250 Ohms (The High-Fidelity Studio Version)

Best for: Critical listening, professional mixing/mastering, and dedicated Hi-Fi setups.

Why: High-impedance headphones use thinner, lighter voice coils, which results in better transient response, cleaner detail, and a more precise soundstage. However, they require a lot of power. If you plug these directly into a smartphone or a basic laptop, they will sound quieter and and thinner than the other two. You must use a dedicated headphone amplifier or a powerful audio interface to drive them properly.

The rating: 3 stars for Studio and Hi-Fi, but only 1 star for Mobile.

Which one should you get?

* Choose the 32 Ohns if you want to plug them straight into a phone, laptop, or controller and just start listening.

* Choose the 80 Ohms if you are doing music production, podcasting, or gaming and have a basic audio interface.

* Choose the 250 Ohms if you already own (or plan to buy) a dedicated headphone amplifier and want the absolute highest level of audio detail.

I hope that helps.

It happened...

Fuck my life, why Beyerdynamic? It's the weakest point in the 990 PRO X. The slider is tilting a lot inside and it caused that 100% as I posted previously days ago. Dad will unscrew it with a screwdriver and glue it. I still love it but this plastic is so weak man

Gaming Headphones

So i have heard good things about some Gaming headphones from Beyerdynamics so i came here to ask about them.

My budged is Around ~200CHF (250USD).

They would need to fit the catogory; Gaming\Media use. Not that much for Music itself.

Closed Back is preferred
(No mic needed)

MMX 330 Pro Appreciation

Coming from the Audeze Maxwell 1 (good sound but better for single player games/story games, and with broken sidetone issue), and Arctis Nova Pro (Mediocre sound but zero issues).

The MMX 330 Pros are just so good, and trump the Maxwell 1s for fps. The wide open sound stage just opens the battlefield right up for that genre of game. The Highs are sparkly and detailed, mids are deeply layered with great separation, and the bass is deep and textured. Gaming and music is a pleasure. My buddy is on the Arctis Nova Pros and I end up telling him where enemy are.

As for comfort, I could roll up and sleep inside those velour ear pads!

Paired with Creative G6 DAC. Love 'em.

newbie looking for some advice on what headphones to get, 150-200€

Hey there,
recently my gaming headset (hyperx cloud alpha) of 4/5 years suddenly went super quiet so I decided to look into buying some new headphones. Issue is I have absolutely 0 idea when it comes to headphones.

Budget : 150-200€ , could be a little bit higher IF the difference is marginable since I do want these headphones to last me a long time

Location : Germany

Use : Mostly for regular activities such as gaming, listening to music and playing the piano

Genres of music I listen to : I kinda listen to literally anything, so probably more well rounded headphones would be nice. If I had to list some genres it'd be Frenchcore, Hardstyle, Hardtekk, J-rock/J-metal, Nightcore, Classical

Open Back or Closed Back : I heard open backs have a nicer sound, but will probably leak a decent bit, and I live with my parents + sister so I assume Closed Back would probably the best choice for me?

My finds so far : I've been looking and so far I came across the beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO or the X version which seem decent? Most Sennheiser headphones I found that were closed back were either below or above budget

Note : The headphones do not need to have a mic, since I was thinking of maybe buying some cheap 50€ microphone instead. Also I have no amp or anything, I'll be using the headphones without any extras

Not satisfied with the loudness of the DT 1770 Pro MK2

Hello, everyone. I recently purchased the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MK2 and plugged it into my PC however, I am not satisfied with the volume that I expected. In short, the volume is too low for my taste. I used EQ + Peace along with Sonar, and it did help increase the volume overall, but with this EQ, the sound is not that loud even on the phone.

I'm sorry I am a bit new to these setups and headphone stuff and all, so I could use some advice if I am missing something. I was wondering what choices I could try on my PC, and if not, is the Moondrop Dawn Pro 2 Portable Amp/DAC capable of getting the most out of these headphones? I know a lot of people would recommend a different portable DAC/amp, but unfortunately, where I live, only this one is available for my budget.

Thank you.

DT 770 pro x

Hello everyone I got my DT 770 pro x from Temu since I already had credit so why not however, I'm not feeling the premium quality everyone is talking about so any advises on how to optimise the best quality out of it. Also how can I know if it's original or not and what are the best options for the mic also since you can't attach the mic to it directly. I'm using hyper x cloud III and so far it's more convenient for gaming.

Whats the pick?

Im deciding between the mmx 300 pro and the mmx 300 gen 2. From what ive seen the gen 2 is the older model but its selling a higher price on amazon. Is there a reason that is? And is there a noticeable difference between the two?

Pomoć oko sluški

Trebam pomoc oko sluški za gaming.

Igram na Kingston HyperX Cloud II godinama ali su pri kraju.

FPS, BR(Warzone i PUBG), Arc Raiders i brodice

Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 32 Ohm Headphones: How Loud is "Too Loud"?

I just recently had to send in my Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro headphones to Consolidated Sound Services in Massachusetts for repairs. Richard, the head administrator and repair expert, found that, in addition to torn ear cushions and headband cushion (What I originally needed fixed), the speaker on the right hand side was blown! This happened after three years (I got these in 2023 for $100). The repairs were $35, and the parts were $70. Richard was even nice enough to cut $8.50 from the shipping cost, so the total for parts, repair and shipping was $115 even! What Richard said to me was that the right hand side speaker was blown due to bass frequencies in my music being played too loudly through my headphones. That leads to a noticeable rattle in the bass audio. Now that I have them back and they look, sound, and feel brand-spankin' new, I'm trying to figure out, how loud is "too loud"? I've now got my Benji T6 Talking MP3 player at a volume of -20 DB, and a maximum volume limit of -200 DB. My computer's headphone jack is now set at 67% volume. The hardest one is figuring out how loud I should have my Scarlet 18I20 Headphone volume when listening to and recording music. As a sight challenged sound designer, I don't wanna blow my eardrums, and I most definitely don't wanna risk another blown headphone speaker! Anybody have any suggestions for me?

Need help

So after one month of research its down to DT 700 Pro X, 770 Pro X LE or MMX 300 Pro.

To make it short: i m using Cloud II Kingston version and i like them and that V shape of sound.

I game in same room with my wife and tv is between us in low volume just to be on( old habit)

We also both speak with Discord crew so that is also need to be good isolated. Microphone will be either Quadcast or smth for good cardoid way.

As living in Croatia lot of stores dont allow to test product before buying and less they love when you need to return them.

These 3 are final choice after some time researching and their pros and cons.

Any tip, advice or info what can help me buy new headphones are welcomed.

Any tips or advice why is this or that headphone better is also welcomed.

I need big upgrade not new gaming headset.

Closed back is best for my situation.

For end i thank you all for reading this post and God bless you all.

Replacement pads for the DT990 Pros?

Huge fan of the feel/comfort of the headphone pads they come with. But with that comes the fact that they last like ~6 months max before the foam collapses. I was buying the replacements off Amazon for ~$20, but all of a sudden, they're now charging $60.

I bought these knockoff ones for $20, and comfort-wise they're similar, but the sound is super muddy. What I liked about the proprietary ones is how open they felt. When I spoke it didn't sound like I even had headphones on. Not the case with these ripoff ones.

Basically just asking if anyone knows/has tried ones that have a similar vibe. I'm not asking for a 1:1 replica or anything, I mostly just want some pads that are just as airy/open. Thanks!

Do I need a DAC/AMP along with the DT 700 Pro X?

Im thinking of upgrading from my old Logitech G Pro X (gen 1) headphones. Initially I wanted to upgrade to something wireless from a gaming brand (Logitech, Razer, Steel Series, etc.) but I eventually ended up realizing that wasnt the right move after a bit of research. I've found that the DT 700 Pro X meets most my requirements (besides being wireless) plus has very good feedback on audio quality.

My concern now is that I have noticed many people seem to pair their headphones with seperate DAC/AMPs for their setups. I know nothing about them and was wondering if it more of a want for audiophiles specifically (which im not) than a need for everyone who buy these headphones?

If I do need to buy an additional DAC/AMP, what are some good budget options (assuming budget doesnt mean it affects sound quality)

DT 770 Pro X (Stellar.45) for PS5 and PC Story Gaming - Enough power without DAC?

Hey everyone, I’m planning to join the Beyer family and looking at the DT 770 Pro X. I’m currently coming from high-end gaming gear like the Audeze Maxwell and SteelSeries Nova Pro. I loved the Maxwell's sound but hated the comfort/build, and the Nova Pro just feels a bit "flimsy" and the pads aren't great for long sessions.

I mainly play single-player titles (Resident Evil, God of War) where dialogue clarity and immersion are key. Since I use a dedicated Fifine mic, I don't need a headset anymore.

My main concern: I want to run the 48-ohm Stellar.45 drivers directly off my PS5 controller and PC motherboard without a dedicated Amp/DAC. Does anyone here use them like this? Is the "punch" and volume sufficient for immersive story games? Also, how do the velour pads hold up for 3+ hour sessions compared to typical leatherette gaming pads?

Thanks for any insights!
