My Chocolate Labrador Lashley was Abandoned without my knowledge. I'm Still Looking for Him.

This post is a part of my final attempt to find my chocolate labrador lashley who was abandoned 5 years ago by my father. I will first post a short introduction before explaining lashley's story in detail.

About Lashley:

Chocolate Labrador Retriever

Nicknames: Boochie, Dachaley, Laboli

Distinctive white patch on his chest also known as bolo marks

Age when he was abandoned - 3 1/2 years old

Current age - 8 to 9 years old

Last known area: Domlur, Bengaluru (near Jogupalya, Indiranagar & Ulsoor)

If anyone living in Bangalore recognizes him, knows someone who might have adopted him, or have any information at all—even if it seems insignificant—please leave a comment or contact me through WhatsApp/call +91 8660826795

Detailed explanation of what actually happened & why he was abandoned

Back in 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, my family was going through a very difficult time financially and personally. Also during this time my father was suffering from severe chronic depression and other mental issues. After some time we had just moved to a new house, so my dad left Lashley to stay at my grandmother's house and claimed he would bring him to our new house. My father told me he would bring him to our new home once everything settled down. But few months passed by and this did not happen. During that time I used to visit him during the weekends. Some of the pics & videos i have posted here are during that time

So one day without my knowledge, according to my grandmother's account he claimed to take lashley for a walk and when he had returned lashley wasn't there with him. When he was asked about it he told her he had sold it or given it to someone but did not mention the specifics like to whom. When he came home he did not tell us about this. A few days later, my father took his own life at my grandmother's house. It was only then that we found out. During that time, our family was consumed by the shock, grief , funeral, legal matters, and everything that followed after my father's death so our thoughts were consumed by this and finding lashley wasnt at the forefront of our minds I also did not want to disturb my mother and other family members by bringing this up.

After some time we decided to search for lashley but had no idea where he went or with whom he was. We visited some well known breeders and rescue organisations but couldn't find him. Also found out that my father had also given away lashley's vaccination certificates & other things like prescriptions from the vets. So i had lost hope and finally decided that it was almost impossible to ever see him again. I loved him so much and wanted to be with him till his final years this was what made it so bad. I couldn't even see him to wish him a final goodbye before he left me. He was an extremely expressive and affectionate lab who always loved to be around me. I can't imagine how panicked and lost he must have felt after he was given away. He loved me like no other dog ever did. So I just suppressed those memories and went on with my life. But it just didn't work. For the past few months I have been feeling intense regret that I didn't do enough to find him, that I had in a way betrayed him. I kept dreaming about him regularly - both positive and disturbing dreams. So i finally decided I need to make a final and serious attempt to find him before he leaves this world. I want to be with him through his final years.

My search efforts will be both offline and online - I will visit every rescue organisation, veterinary clinics , breeders, pet boarding schools and kennels in my city. I will also be creating pages on every social media platform where I will be documenting and updating my search efforts. Even if the search fails i atleast get to preserve lashley's memories and get to tell his story to many. Hope this post wasn't too long. Thank you for reading

Pandavara betta Tumakuru - Unexplored raw adventure

Pandavara betta lies in the Devarayanadurga range, and is visible while driving towards DD hills from Tumakuru side through Belgumba. There was literally nobody in and around this place when we started the climb. There are no trails to scale this hill, and one needs to explore and make their own trail. A lot of steep ascents, slippery rocks and climbing massive boulders. You can encounter a lot of birds, butterflies, snakes, and we even found bear droppings and footprints close to the top. The sloth bears found here are shy animals and they come out mostly during night time.

It's covered in thick forest and has patches of grass everywhere. It's not advised to do it solo as you may get lost numerous times due to unmarked trails, and may encounter dangerous wildlife. Nature preserved at its finest, untamed form. A must for pure adventure seekers and wilderness explorers!!

South-Western Nandi: A Beautiful Trek, a Sharp Lesson in Respect (16 August 2026)

South-Western Outer Boundary of the Nandi Complex

I and my trek mates u/Willing_Yesterday548 and u/Renderedperson set off on A relatively short elevation on the south-western outer boundary of the Nandi complex, ending at a viewpoint over a magnificent Grand Valley.

Rocks, shrubs, thorns and grasslands, with little blue Benghal dayflowers (Commelina benghalensis) scattered through the grass.

Bright sunshine, crystal-clear air and a cool, strong breeze made the whole landscape feel almost impossibly benign.

We went off-trail, following the contours and finding our way through the scrub.

Eventually we reached the viewpoint, and the valley opened out below us.

Then, on the way down, the jungle reminded me that beauty and danger can coexist very comfortably.

While clearing dense vegetation with a machete, the blade caught the dorsum of my left hand.

A deep cut. A lot of bright-red blood. A rather sudden change in the nature of the trek.

We bound the wound and started finding our way down.

No panic—just controlled adrenaline, deep breaths, GPS, and one careful decision after another.

The descent through the vegetation and steep terrain suddenly felt very different.

My trek mates stayed with me, helped me get out, drove me for medical attention and waited while I was treated.

The wound was cleaned, examined and stitched.

Thankfully, the bone and tendons were intact.

Now it is dressed, healing and a slightly humbling reassessment of what I thought I knew about bushwhacking.

A blade that has cleared hundreds of trails still demands respect. Arm protection is a must for future trails.

And the jungle doesn't care how fit, experienced or confident you feel.

It also reminded me of the value of a group.

You can explore alone, but when something goes wrong, having people beside you can make the difference between an inconvenience and a genuine emergency.

The hand will heal.

The lesson will stay.

And strangely enough, after all of this, the jungle is still calling.

Has anyone done Nelji hills trek recently?

Could anyone please tell me how to get permits for the Nelji hills trek? I heard that the Neelakurinji flowers are blooming there. Is it worth it?

Also are both the Brahmagiri and Tadiandamol treks in Coorg currently closed? Couldn't find them on the Aranya Vihaara website.

Kumara parvata

These are taken over multiple treks over the years. All these years never got to witness fog at the final forest stretch 🙃.

I am a native so any doubts/ questions are welcome 🤗

Karshigudda opened on Aranya Vihaara — we’re trekking it this Saturday 🌿

If you’ve been checking the Aranya Vihaara portal recently, you might have noticed Karshigudda, Chikkamagaluru has newly opened for bookings.

We are heading there this Saturday, 22 August.
And since we’re already travelling to Chikkamagaluru, we’re making it a 2-day combo:

🏔️ 22 Aug — Karshigudda
🥾 23 Aug — Merthi Gudda

Two different trails, one weekend in the Western Ghats.
Honestly, I’m more excited about Karshigudda because it’s one of the newer trails on the portal and not something you see mentioned as often as Kudremukh/Netravati/Gangadikal.

We’re taking a small group this weekend and have a couple of spots left.

🌧️ Monsoon + Chikkamagaluru + a newly opened trail = pretty hard to say no to.

Forest permit registrations are being finalised today, so we’re closing the list today.

If anyone was already planning to trek this weekend and wants to join DM us to get the Registration Link.

Radmevvara betta (tumkur)

It is a completely hidden gem found in tumkur. It is a short trek but filled with adventures and at the peak you will find a wonderful pond filled with lotus and a wonderful view with an awesome wind blowing. In monsoon season it will be covered with fog and in summer you will get to see a wonderful sunrise if u go on time. In total it is a 6 km trek, you can complete it within 1.5hr based on your fitness.

Hey everyone, I've completed the netravathi and kudremukha treks and I'm planning to go fr the next challenging trek in karnataka which is kumar parvatha's kukke circuit, but I couldn't find this particular circuit in any websites nor district app....they all show the beedahalli pathway which I heard is similarly moderate-difficult as kudremukha. Does any1 know where do I register fr this circuit to go as a group ....planning this trek around 1st week of september
