Bosch 360 Laser Levels

Hi everyone, I have a question about Bosch laser levels, well about laser levels generally but I’ve been looking at Bosch ones.

I have bought my share of cheap Chinese no-name laser levels, and been disappointed. I think it’s time to spend the money for a good 360 laser level that will do everything I need.

The laser has to be clearly visible in a sunlit room and outdoors on a sunny day. I don’t need big distance, will be usually working in an area 50 ft across. And it has to be a quality product, the last one I’ll buy.

Which Bosch 360 laser would work for my needs? I see the GLL 3-330-CQ looks like the top model but is it overkill for me? Is there a different brand you’d recommend instead?

Thank you!

My Review of the AmpShare 18V Wagner FLEXiO 3550 Painter

TLDR: Great for small to medium projects, unbeatable flexibility, but a bit on the heavy side and is a battery hog. More batteries/charger required for normal use. 4/5 overall.

Bought on eBay new in box for about $170 USD, came with a charger and two Wagner-branded 2ah batteries and a charger, also a normal paint nozzle and a "detail" nozzle that I haven't used.

Ease of use/setup 5/5: very easy and intuitive if you've used this style of painter before. Fill with paint, attach and lock the motor housing to the nozzle assembly, and go. Simple on/off switch, in the on position the fan motor runs at a low speed, and when pulling the trigger the fan speeds up and also opens the paint nozzle.

Flexibility 5/5: various settings on the painter to control your work for different paint types or stain. The trigger has settings 1-12 (it's a dial that limits the distance the trigger can be pulled, affecting the paint nozzle opening size), the nozzle can be rotated horizontally or vertically, and the spray width is adjustable with a dial. The motor has fan speeds 1-5. The instructions give detailed recommendations for types of paint/station for each setting.

Coverage and spray quality: 4/5. I picked a terrible day to paint. Windy, hot, and dry. The paint was dry to the touch almost as soon as it hit the doors. While tack-free time was great, the surface finish could definitely be better, the paint didn't have time to even out. That's not the sprayer's fault. However, the atomizing of the paint could be better and requires constant attention. My paint was pretty standard latex, and while 90% of the paint was atomized, I had to keep and eye out for larger specks and wipe them. With more use, the nozzle gets paint around it, blocking airflow. You need a wet rag with you at all times to wipe the nozzle clean every 1-2 minutes. The coverage and speed are decent, you wouldn't want to paint your whole house with it, but great for small to medium projects.

Battery life: 2/5. Chews through batteries. With the provided 2x 2Ah kit, you could not paint consistently, I was able to paint full-time because I have the 6-bay charger with an array of batteries, but you get ~6 minutes (estimated) of use per Ah of battery on the highest fan speed. I had the most success with 8ah batteries. After a battery dies, it may be too hot to charge anyway (YMMV, I was painting in 95°F/~35°C)

Ergonomics/Weight: 3/5. Comfortable enough to hold, the grip is rubberized and it's well balanced, but with a full pot of paint and a 4/8ah battery, your arm will be tired and I found myself switching arms back and forth. It's not as bad as a framing nailer, but you'll feel it. It's not quiet, but not loud either, nor is the tone of the noise very annoying. With a 2 or 4ah battery, it sits nicely on the battery guard and paint pot.

Cleaning: 5/5. Comes apart extremely easily, all parts are clean up quickly and there's nothing small to lose. They provide a brush in the box. The entire motor assembly disconnects from the nozzle, preventing damage to the fan/electronics when washing.

Value: 2.5/5 @ full price ($319-349 USD), 5/5 @ third party pricing (eBay, $175-200). You basically have to be in the Bosch/AmpShare ecosystem for this to make sense, as the included batteries and charger can't keep up with the use. I would be disappointed if I had paid full price, so if you're interested, keep an eye out for a deal.

Lowes bogo 2 x 4ah deal

I do not have any bosch power tools neither batteries. Do you guys think it is a great deal to buy GDS18V-740N impact wrench and 2x4ah batteries with charger for 219?

USB-C charging

I wish Bosch had made this; if they had, I would have bought one years ago. I don't like taking a chance on weird third party power adapters, but this is so much more useful and more practical than the original chargers, I couldn't pass it up. You, Bosch, are supposed to be innovators. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

I live out of the work truck, and I spend a lot of time driving around from one job site to another. The inverter is inside one of the tool doors on the side of the truck, so I used to keep an extension cord running forward and in through the driver's door, so that I could keep battery chargers available in the cab. It was a stupid workaround. Now I can charge my batteries from the USB-C PD charger in the cigarette lighter. Plus, this little block is half the size of the original Bosch chargers, AND it gives lots more useful information. I don't know how long it will last, but when it dies I will immediately buy another one.

What’s the difference between EXTS100-254X and GTS100-254? Apart from paintjob and EUR 270.00, obviously. Thanks.

Apparently wireless charging 18V batteries were a thing 11 years ago!

Scrolling eBay lead to yet another discovery! What the hell is this and who thought it was a good idea? It’s basically a new battery ecosystem because regular batteries won’t charge using this frankenmonster and you had to get special batteries for that! :D

Interesting promo video from Bosch: https://youtu.be/FGAv-QHCC2w

It’s currently being auctioned on eBay in case anyone is into collecting weird but interesting power tools. Just search “Bosch WC18CHF-102DDS” to find it.

Bosch has the chance to be first with a 12v turbo fan

I've been looking at turbo fans/precision blowers recently and noticed that while Makita and recently Milwaukee have released smaller 18v precision blowers, no power tool maker has released a small 12v blower.

So Bosch has the chance to be first in the market with a 12v turbo fan. It's a popular tool, especially for dusting off electronics, and could draw a lot of people into the Bosch Pro 12v ecosystem. Once they're in, they'll buy other 12v tools.

If Bosch engineers go all in on a turbo fan with nice brushless motor, smooth operation and speed adjustment, they could hit a home run here.

But of course we all know Bosch isn't going to do it until 2 years after everyone else has done it, because Bosch gonna Bosch and they'd rather release 10 different 18v drill drivers or rebrand their accessories into pro and expert lines.

But yeah, I said it.

Bosch GKE 18V 40 Review

Unfortunately, the Bosch GKE 18V-40 did not really convince me in everyday use. It may be sufficient for simple work around the house, but as soon as you start using it for carpentry work or cutting firewood, you quickly notice its limitations.

Especially during larger cuts, the saw simply lacks power. During longer cuts it also heats up quite quickly and noticeably reduces performance. I have not yet had the chance to test it with the new Expert batteries.

Another issue that bothered me is the batteries overheating quickly. The problem already appears during the second or third charging cycle in a row — even with the large ProCORE 12Ah and 8Ah+ batteries. For longer work sessions, this becomes really annoying.

Durability is another weak point. Within one year, I already had three failures. Everything was repaired under warranty, but it definitely does not build confidence in the machine.

The saw is also not recommended for carving work, even when using a carving blade. Due to its long and bulky design, it feels awkward and lacks the precision and handling needed for detailed carving tasks.

My conclusion: the GKE 18V-40 feels more like an oversized DIY saw than a truly professional tool. For carpentry work it is only usable to a limited extent — better than nothing, but far from being a real workhorse. In my opinion, it is also unsuitable for cutting firewood. In the same price range, I would now rather choose a good corded saw. They usually offer more power, better durability, and significantly fewer issues during continuous use.

GFK 600 and right to repair?

I got a GFK 600 router about 4 years ago, and have used it in a custom-built CNC. It's been ok for that, the lack of speed control isn't good, but it seemed robust. I've certainly gotten some good use out of it. A few days ago I noticed the router sounded different, and was hot to the touch around the collet. Hand turning the bit feels rough as well. I assume the bearing on the collet end got worn out, and I was hoping I could replace it. Obviously doing so comes with risks etc etc, but anyone building CNCs is aware of this.

Anyway, the GFK600 seems simple enough to open - there are three screws holding the metal neck to the main body, you can remove this, the neck slides of ... and then locks in place half way off the body. It won't slide further, or back into place. So, now it's permanently stuck in this halfway off position. There are no further screws, tabs, or things to interact with. Seems Bosch deliberately designed the router to not be serviceable, maybe in the name of user safety.

From a right-to-repair perspective, this is not great. Everything on my router is fine, except a bearing, which I would imagine is a part most likely to wear out with regular use. Not being able to replace a bearing on a tool is like being prevented from changing a battery on a phone. Sure, one could argue that opening a phone ruins water sealing, plus unauthorized batteries are a first risk etc, but it's still reasonable to be able to want to replace parts that see heavy wear, and one could definitely design something around safe replacement of worn parts.

I've been a loyal Bosch "blue" customer for years and have a workshop full of their tools, but this the first time I try to repair one, and I'm a bit disappointed. I'm also wondering if there are better options out there.

Update :

Thanks for the various links. Using them I was able to determine that the motor bushings were locking the motor inside the body. The bushings can be removed by removing the large plastic thread caps on the top end of the body, and then pulling out the copper-looking objects inside. I didn't want to remove these at first as they looked electronic, but they are actually both electronic and mechanical in nature.

The lower large bearing is not easy to remove, you're going to need a lot of violence / force to knock or squeeze it out of the metal case. I used a heavy vice with some wood standoffs, and the bearing didn't come out intact. Thankfully, it didn't need to, it's definitely cooked.

Also, the bearing listed in the official part list is discontinued. It looks the 6002RS bearing is a suitable substitute. I guess I'll know when my order arrives.

So I stand corrected, Bosch Pro seems to be pretty good for RTR, I take my initial comments back. You'll likely still need a teardown video or guide to help you, but once you're past that, it looks like you _can_ replace most parts.

Are Bosch sanders/polishers good for DIY automotive body work & paint correction?

Hey everyone, I’m already in the Bosch 18V ecosystem (I have a Bosch impact wrench and drill already) and I’m getting into DIY automotive/body work on my car

Main things I want to do:

fix dents on fenders/doors
body filler/Bondo sanding
paint prep
scratch repair
primer sanding
maybe light paint correction/polishing

I’m trying to decide if I should stay Bosch for sanders/polishers or if it makes more sense to go with another brand

The Bosch tools I’ve been looking at are:
GEX18V-5N
GEX34-6N
GET75-6N
Bosch polishers if they’re worth it

Questions:
Are Bosch sanders actually good for automotive body work?
Which Bosch sander would fit my needs best?
Does Bosch make a good DA polisher or should I use another brand for polishing/detailing?
Is the GET75 overkill for beginner/intermediate DIY work?
Would you stay in the Bosch ecosystem or mix brands for sanding/polishing?
Would appreciate opinions from anyone doing automotive/body work with Bosch tools.

Can I not purchase the GSR 12V-32 FC in the US?

I was about to purchase the GSR12V-300FCB22 "Flexiclick", but saw there is a newer model, the GSR 12V-32 FC with kickback control and a metal chuck.

However, I can't find the newer GSR 12V-32 FC anywhere in the US. Is it not for sale here? or do I need to go through an importer?

Makita radio with AmpShare battery

It definitely works on the Makita DMR 115. I also tested the deep discharge protection. I used a laboratory power supply and started with 20V one the plus and minus on the radio with croco clamps. So at round about 15V the radio says "battery low". Under 14V the radio goes off. So for me I'm feeling safe to use it with my Bosch batteries. I think no Bosch radio comes close to the price-performance of the Makita DMR 115.

What tool is missing the most in the portfolio?

Every other brand seems to have them. Must be a huge margin product. Why does Bosch seem to be unable to bring one to market?
