Stick with Qatar Business (ORD–PHL–DOH–BOM) or switch to BA First/Business (ORD–LHR–BOM)?

Booked on a combined AA/Qatar ticket: ORD–PHL in AA domestic First, then PHL–DOH–BOM in Qatar Qsuites. The airline offered me a free change due to a minor time conflict, so now I'm weighing whether to just fix the conflict on the same routing, or switch entirely to ORD–LHR–BOM, going BA First on the transatlantic leg and BA Business onward to BOM.

A few things about my situation:

  • I have oneworld Sapphire via BA Executive Club (Silver), so lounge access isn't really the differentiator here
  • Mainly weighing Qsuites (widely regarded as one of the best business class products out there, with the double/quad suites) vs. BA First (smaller cabin, generally solid ground/onboard service, but BA's hard product has had mixed reviews lately)
  • Also thinking about total journey time, layover quality (DOH vs LHR), domestic connection quality (PHL vs LHR), and overall reliability/on-time performance

Has anyone flown both recently? Is BA First worth giving up Qsuites for, or should I just take the free change and stick with the current routing? Would love to hear from people who've done this exact kind of comparison (Gulf carrier business vs. legacy US/UK first class) on a long-haul to India.

Edit: I ended up choosing Qatar

Business Class Flight Culture Disappearing?

So this isn’t a wealth complaint. Many fly business class on points or upgrades. Some also pay top dollar or use a consolidator. But what drew me to business class wasn’t just the seat. It was the unspoken code.

People let each other board in order. Nobody rushed the jet bridge. No one thought they were better than the other passengers.

I swear if one more person shoves past me yelling “business class” while everyone in business class is standing in the exact same line, I am going to lose it. Shouting the fare class you paid for does not create a separate line. We are all waiting for the same door.

The code that once existed seems to be eroding. People stand and block the aisle the second the seatbelt sign turns off. Others don’t help each other. They don’t even acknowledge each other. I used to have some of the most interesting conversations with at least one or more passengers. We used to sometimes have little parties on a light flight. Or if there was a tarmac delay the champagne will flow. Overhead bin space now becomes debatable even though there is plenty of it.

Is it because there is more and more business class space on flights? Is it that no one taught the common code? Is it because airline services are degrading every day but one is doing anything about it?

I guess the difference used to be a shared expectation of how you behaved once you got there. That expectation feels thinner every year and can vary based on airline.

Curious if others are seeing the same shift, or if this was always more romanticized than real and I’m just realizing it.

Stolen from Business Class: My iPhone left on an Emirates flight just pinged live inside potential airport staff housing block in Deira. Emirates is stalling. Advice?

Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice on dealing with Dubai authorities and Emirates Corporate Security from abroad.
Five weeks ago, my partner and I flew into Dubai in Business Class with our family. In the chaos of disembarking my iPhone was left behind in the secure seat pocket. I reported it immediately to the crew and lounge staff before departing.
Yesterday, the phone suddenly powered on live. The GPS tracking pin locked directly onto the Skylight Hotel apartment building on 12A Street, Al Muteena, Deira.
Because the aircraft cabin is entirely restricted post-flight, the fact that the device left the airport and traveled to this specific high-density worker residential hub strongly indicates rostered ground cleaning or maintenance crews.
I have an official Emirates Case ID and have emailed the Dubai Tourist Police with the precise zoomed-in structural map data. However, Emirates is currently responding with boilerplate automated templates.

My questions for locals or anyone who has dealt with this:
Is that Al Muteena block a known transit/staff accommodation hub for airport ground handlers?

How can I get a local Deira/Muraqqabat precinct patrol to physically flag this building based on a last-known GPS pin while I am stuck back home in Australia?

Has anyone successfully forced Emirates Corporate Security to audit their cleaning shift logs for a specific flight?

The phone is locked tight in Lost Mode and fully encrypted, but it contains years of irreplaceable family photos that we desperately want back.

Appreciate any insights or visibility you can give this.

Emirates, Etihad or Qatar

Hi all!

I am going to fly Frankfurt - Bali return with two young kids: 2 years and 6 months. My husband won’t be joining for the trip.
I am trying to decide between the three who have all a similar (insanely good) price points and length of journey.
I have flown Etihad and emirates business before but that was before kids or only with one.

My main concern is to stay close to my toddler and crew willingness to assist me when needed eg watching kids when I use the bathroom.

Qatar Q Suite is an option for the Bali - Doha leg as they use their A350

First business class flight did I book a killer Qatar deal? $8,500 family of four

Feeling super elated as I just booked my first business class. It is from Lisbon to Tokyo round trip and we get the Qsuites on the leg from Doha to Tokyo and vice versa. 2 adults, 1 child over 2, and 1 infant = $8,500.

Did I get a killer deal or what????

🔥 2in1 QATAR AIRWAYS BUSINESS CLASS: DUBLIN → LAGOS + DOHA FROM €1,457

Thought this one was worth sharing here because the pricing is unusually good — and importantly, I also managed to reproduce it directly on Qatar Airways.

Example itinerary:

🇮🇪 10 Nov: Dublin → Lagos in Qatar Airways Business Class
🇳🇬 8 hotel nights in Nigeria
🇳🇬 19 Nov: Lagos → Doha nonstop in Business Class
🇶🇦 4 nights in Doha
🇶🇦 23 Nov: Doha → Dublin nonstop in Business Class

💶 Mytrip / Skyscanner Ireland: around €1,457
✅ Qatar Airways direct: around €1,480

For roughly €23 extra, I would personally book directly with Qatar Airways.

Other highlights:

✈️ Qatar Airways Business Class throughout
💺 Lie-flat seats
🧳 2 × 32 kg checked baggage
📅 Plenty of combinations found between September 2026 and February 2027
🔄 Dates are highly customisable — you can shorten or extend either the Nigeria or Doha stay

⚠️ One important catch: the cheapest direct Qatar fare is Business Lite, so lounge access is NOT included.

I’ve checked both the OTA price and the Qatar Airways direct price, so this isn't an OTA-only mystery fare.

Full itinerary, example dates and both fare proofs here:

https://www.dinothetourist.com/crazy-business-class-deal-2-in-1-visit-nigeria--qatar-from-just-euro1457-with-qatar-airways.html

Would you take this at €1,480 direct with Qatar — and how would you split the time between Nigeria and Doha?

Worst flying experience of my life.

I just returned from a trip to Portugal and Spain. I made the mistake of trusting Business-Skies to get me a great price on a round-trip ticket from Washington Dallas airport to Lisbon, but I was ghosted by someone named Savio Ricci when I ran into problems. Any ticket you get they attach a lot of free tickets which I later found out is called Skip lagging. What this means is that they were selling me a ticket, but didn’t disclose that all of those additional stops were where all of my suitcases would go. They told me to simply ignore the extra tickets without disclosing that they were putting me at risk of being banned from Airlines for the rest of my life if I was discovered. As a result because they didn’t tell me this, my bags were sent to Estonia and Berlin and it took me four days to get them back in Portugal and then when I got home, I was incredibly lucky to get my bags when they came into the US. Don’t ever use this group because they will ghost you the minute you have any Customer Service challenges because they are breaking all of the Airline rules by selling these “cheap” or free tickets that are actually putting you at incredible lifetime risk for travel. Don’t ever trust them with your money.

Business Class on A350-1000 MNL-YYZ and YYZ-MNL Review

Philippine Airlines

42 seats in Business Class, seated 2K (to YYZ) and 8A (to MNL).

Definitely worth it especially for a 16 hour flight, compared to the old aircraft flying this route.

**Seats:** the full lie flat seats were comfortable and spacious, with sliding privacy doors (best feature by far). They now provide duvet pad/cover for the seat besides your comforter. The huge 4k touch screens were great too. Movie and show options were not so great, but then again to each their own.

**Food:** I usually avoid beef dishes on PAL flights before but they leveled up with their dishes. The Filet Mignon was so tender and flavorful. The bread was served as if it was freshly baked, and the Inasal was amazing. Their nilaga as an appetizer was a highlight dish too. Besides the dinner and breakfast service, you can order their infamous arroz caldo and other rigatoni along with fruits and chips as well.

**Wifi:** still no wifi on board. Sucks but you’d either be eating or sleeping on the flight.

Overall, i was very lucky to have experienced flying on this aircraft. Not affiliated with PAL, just a regular passenger.
