2026 has been a very memorable year for me as I opened up my own business and my son was born this week. I wanted to get a Rolex to celebrate and about 2 months ago I started shopping at my local ADs. My strategy was simple: look at google reviews and see which sales associate was listed as the guy that gives watches. When I walked in the Rolex store, I asked for him specifically.
I explained that my son was due in July and that I would love this watch before the birth. He said he would try his best and put me down in the list. Funny thing is, about two weeks ago he texted me and said it would be “impossible” to get the watch before the birth.
Next thing you know, last Saturday I got the call! AD was closed on Sunday and Monday my son was born. My wife had some friends visiting today and I took the opportunity to grab my watch!
I know it’s not a “desirable model” hence why it came so quick but I specifically work between two time zones and love flying so the Skydweller just made sense. I was going to get a datejust but my wife wisely told me, if you are going to get a Rolex, get what you want and not the basic model everyone is wearing. I have a trip lined up for Japan in February and will probably pick up a 90s classic date just.
No more watches from the AD for now, hopefully for the next baby I can pick up a presidential and that will be it for my Rolex journey. I also have an old submariner date from 1987 I bought about ten years ago.
Hello my fellow surfers. Been charging for three years. This has been my surfing journey:
2023: one year on the Foamie
2024: Finally got on my 7’4 hardtop and was riding down the line and doing some turns
2025: had to move for work and Surfed a handful of times this year (mostly on rented longboard).
2026: finally moved back to the beach and have been surfing on my foamie the last six months to get back in the groove.
Last week I got back on my 7’4 and to my surprise, I actually did really good. Managed to catch some nice waves and ride down the line.
I’m having my second child and wanted to order a locally shaped longboard and put my daughter’s footsteps on (cringe lol).
However, I am wondering if I should just keep grinding on the 7’4 even on smaller waves during the summer to prepare for the bigger sets in the winter. Will getting a hardtop ultimately hurt my progress on the smaller board?
For reference I am a big guy 6’1 and weight 240 pounds. The longboard I am getting is 8’10 and 69.7 liters.

Just purchased this from Cettire, which is supposed to be legit. However, the check is not fully aligned, the zipper doesn’t have any brand name on the inside (like YKK) and the “Made in Italy” doesn’t look sharp. Therefore wondering if this is a well made counterfeit?

Quero renovar uma casa construída em 1987. A casa tem boa estrutura (“bons ossos”), mas fiquei traumatizado depois de contratar uma empresa em Lisboa para fazer obras em meu T2 em Lisboa que não entregou o que prometeu, como também fez um trabalho horrível.
A renovação será bastante extensa: substituir praticamente tudo, adicionar casas de banho, abrir novas janelas, renovar interiores completos, etc.
A minha ideia agora seria montar uma equipa própria em vez de contratar uma empresa tradicional. Estava a pensar em algo como:
• 1 encarregado/gestor de obra
• 2 ajudantes/trabalhadores fixos
• 1 ou 2 pessoas para especialidades
(canalização, eletricidade, etc.)
A ideia seria terem trabalho a tempo inteiro só focados nesta casa até a obra acabar.
O que acham desta ideia? Acham viável?
E qual seria o melhor sítio para encontrar pessoas boas e de confiança? A casa fica perto do Ericeira.
Estou disposto a pagar bem:
• cerca de 2.500€ para o encarregado de obra
• 1.500€–1.800€ para os restantes
Outra pergunta: quanto tempo acham que demoraria
renovar uma casa de cerca de 225m2 com uma obra deste nível?
