Is CSCA really the most important thing for getting g into Chinese universities and getting the CSC?

I have good grades (A+ A+ A predicted) and some relevant extracurriculars, and I think I can write a pretty good personal statement and study plan but I’m so nervous for the CSCA. Is it really that important and if I study for the next 4 months can I get a good chore to basically garuntee entry and CSC?

I want 100% tuition waiver, please rate my chances!

I’m an international student from Kazakhstan.
I’m kinda targeting this Belt and Road scholarship or Type B 100% tuition waiver scholarship. I wanna apply to Fudan university, Shanghai Jiao Tong, Nanjing University, Tsinghua university, Zhejiang University. My biggest dream is Fudan, Shanghai Jiao Tong or Zhejiang.

I’m currently starting as a second year in Yancheng Normal University in China, but I want to switch majors and apply for other university with a scholarship.

I wanna know if this is usual and possible if I’m currently already studying in Chinese university, cause many scholarships say that you only need to be non Chinese citizen, but I don’t know for sure.

My Stats:
Sat: predicted 1510-1520
IELTS: predicted 8.5
GPA: 4.8/5 or 3.84/4.0 in American system.
Wanted major: AI/ML or Software Engineering.
Language: English taught programs.

Extracurriculars:

— Long term ~2 year tutorship experience.
— I worked as a Math tutor.
— And as an IELTS tutor.
— Was employed as an English language methologist for children who learned English as their third language/7 months
— Currently working on AI trained website/app.
— Have a vlog about China and its culture.
— Have a channel about education and opportunities for Central Asians.
—And also participating in hackathon on training AI models rn, but idk the results yet.
—Amateur guitar playing.
—And graphic designer & digital artist experience.

Honors:
—nothing major, only regional first place diplomas for English language olympiad.
—and some really basic stuff like diplomas for excellent performance in my after-school additional classes

Skills:
Python
C language
Motion design
Animation
Digital art

I’m gonna write about accessible education in my study essay and express my passion for learning and teaching children.

Realistic Feedback Needed: Russian Applicant (3.6 GPA, English Major, CSCA 70+) Seeking 50%+ Scholarship at Tier-2 Chinese Universities

Hi everyone,

I am planning to apply for a Bachelor’s degree in China and would appreciate realistic feedback from people familiar with Chinese university admissions and scholarship selection.

Here is my profile:

Academic Background

Nationality: Russian

Current GPA: 3.6/4.0

Degree Sought:

Bachelor’s Degree (open to programs taught in English, particularly in Humanities, Social Sciences, International Relations, Business, Linguistics, or Education)

Language & Competency Exams

CSCA math (China Scholastic Competency Assessment):

Expected score around 70+.

English Proficiency:

IELTS: 6.0

University & Scholarship Goals

Target Universities:

985/211 institutions.

Scholarship Goal:

At least a 50% tuition scholarship, although I would also like to understand my chances for higher-level university or provincial scholarships.

Questions

  1. Scholarship Chances

With a GPA of 3.6/4.0, an English-language academic background, and an expected CSCA score of around 70+, how competitive am I for a 50% or greater scholarship at Tier-2 Chinese universities?

  1. Importance of CSCA

How much weight do universities place on the CSCA score compared to previous academic performance? Would a strong CSCA result significantly improve scholarship prospects?

  1. University Selection Strategy

Which category of universities should I realistically target to maximize scholarship opportunities?

Regional public universities

Provincial universities in Tier-2 or Tier-3 cities

Universities with strong international student recruitment programs

  1. Scholarship Types

Which scholarships are generally the most realistic for someone with my profile?

University scholarships

Provincial government scholarships

CSC scholarships

Other institutional awards for international students

  1. Overall Assessment

Based on the information above, do I have a realistic chance of receiving at least a 50% tuition scholarship, or should I primarily expect partial funding and focus on less competitive universities?

I would greatly appreciate honest feedback, university recommendations, and any advice on building the strongest possible application strategy.

Thank you!

I need advice

Hi!

I am a student of Pakistan.I want to ask a few questions.

1)How to find universities that are offering English taught Undergraduate programs with scholarships.Do I have to check every uni website seperate or is there any website for that.

It can be university, presidential or provincial scholarship as long as it's fully funded

I can't apply for CSC cause it's Chinese taught.

Is there a website for that purpose

2)What's does the application opens for most universities? I mean If I want to study in 2027 September intake cause in spring there are no scholarships, when should I start applying?

3)On every uni website there is a list of programs in English or Chinese for international students.

Are scholarships available in every program or only for some programs .

If it's only available for some ,then how do I find that majors?

4)Is it possible to apply without csca and submit it later like after December test or should I take csca first ?

Which one is better?

5)Do I need appostile or attestation before applying or can I apply first?

It would help a lot if someone could provide some info on this

Thanks in advance!

Useful Insights on Chinese University Dorms (2026 Edition)

Here is a quick breakdown of the rules:

1. The Dorm Bed Is NOT Automatically Guaranteed

Many students assume that getting an admission letter or paying your tuition means your bed is secured. False.

  • In top-tier cities, campus housing is in high demand, and only a fraction of freshmen get a room on campus.
  • Accommodation booking links usually drop in August and can vanish in minutes. If you miss the window, you'll be forced to rent an apartment off-campus, which is 3x more expensive and requires a 12-month lease. Check your email daily and act fast!

2. Prepare for the Mattress

In most Chinese dorms, a "mattress" is just a thin layer of padding stretched over a solid wooden board or metal mesh (sometimes not, must confirm in advance).

  • The fix: If that is the case, use Taobao or JD within your first 24 hours and order a thick memory foam or latex mattress topper (dianzi).

3. Prepaid Electricity

Utilities work differently here.

  • Electricity isn't a flat monthly fee included in rent. You have to top up your meter digitally via WeChat Pay or Alipay. If your balance hits zero, the power cuts off instantly.
  • Most rooms have smart breakers that trigger if you plug in high-draw appliances like hair dryers, electric kettles, or rice cookers. Check your dorm's limit before plugging things in!

4. Bathroom Realities & Squat Toilets

Depending on how new your building is, you might run into traditional squatting toilets rather than sitting ones—and toilet paper/soap are never provided in public or dorm bathrooms.

  • Pro-tip: You can buy a "squat-to-sit adapter chair" on Taobao for about 50 RMB to make your life easier.

5. Roommate

Most schools assign roommates randomly. You might luck out with an awesome roommate or end up sharing a tight space with three other people, so come prepared with a bed tent to block out light and carve out a little privacy.

6. Campus Deliveries

You will definitely be doing some online shopping on Taobao. Just remember that delivery drivers do not bring packages to your dorm room door. Everything goes to central campus pickup stations or automated parcel lockers. You'll get a text with a 6-digit code to grab your box from the shelf.

For 2026 intake, if you are still not admitted, this is the final straw

Currently most programs are closed and the remaining ones are very unreliable. The only exception is probably XJTU's Chinese language program and we can help you apply for free (you have to pay the tuition though to the univ directly).

If interested let me know.
