Help me understand the ban!

Why is Douglas county still in a stage 1 fire ban. In years past it was on, then off again. But this year the signs on Santa fe don't budge even though we have been soaked for a while. Just wondering if they are being overly cautious or some other reason.

Hit and run in Sapphire Point

On Monday May 18th between 3:45am and 4:15am someone drove their car into my house. I am offering $1000 cash to anyone that provides Ring Camera or CCTV footage that leads to an arrest or conviction. The incident occurred at the south intersection of Sapphire Point Blvd and Baguette Drive. The police are reviewing the current footage now.

If you live on: Baguette Drive, Rhodonite Court, Fire Opal Ln, Fire Opal Court, Selenite Court, Geode Court, Slate Court, Dolomite Way, Dolomite Lane, Halite Court, Kimberly Drive, Cinnabar Drive, Pyrite Way, Pyrite Court you may have video of this vehicle.

If you live on Baguette Drive, Rhodonite Court, Fire Opal Ln, Fire Opal Court you have the highest chance of having footage of this vehicle.

The vehicle will pass twice on your camera within 5 minutes. The damage will be to the front lower bumper mostly what appears to be damage from impacting the boulder in my rock bed the garage door and the garage rock facia of my house.

I will not pay anything to the individual that did this or the owner of the vehicle.

Scrap wood disposal?

I have an absurd amount of wood from a deck remodel. Is there a preferred way of disposing? I thought about posting on Facebook for people to take if they wanted. I know there’s a slash and burn in Sedalia now but kind of wanting to avoid renting a truck and hauling everything. Also thought about paying a junk disposal company. Any ideas?

Also, some of these wood pieces are like 12-16ft long which makes it even more complicated but I figured I could just cut it all down.

Thanks!

Cat teeth cleaning SOUTH of Denver

Apologies Ive seen other posts on here about teeth cleaning but all the places seem to be an hour + from me. Im in the castle rock area and need a cat teeth cleaning. Hes only 5 and its just preventative basic cleaning. Needing this to be affordable please. I care about my cat more than anything but I do not have more than 700 for this procedure. Apex vet in greenwood village is charging criminally at $2200 TO START. and sploot those greedy private owners now its $1400 to start. Id really love to not have to stress my cat out with an hour drive before hand. Not everyone down here can be so awful and greedy, right? Please help and send any suggestions! Anything is appreciated!!

If you brought a kitten to the emergency vet in 2020

If you're out there, I wanted to let you know that the kitten you found on the side of the road and brought to the emergency vet in 2020 is doing well! He went from the first picture where he was starving, severely dehydrated, and had an upper respiratory infection to this big fuzz ball that loves nose scratches and follows me everywhere.

I know if I brought him in, I'd always wonder what happened.

Looking for Douglas County codes for finishing my basement

Hey everyone, I'm looking for a place where I can find the rules I need to follow for my basement build to be code compliant for permitting. Framing, electrical, plumbing, etc. I've done a fair share of Google searches and haven't rally come up with definitive information. Is there some kind of a document that goes into the nitty gritty? I mean, these contractors HAVE TO have some source to learn this from, right?

Thank you all in advance!

Youth Baseball

My wife and I are starting the process of relocating to Colorado and are targeting Castle Rock. Our son is a huge baseball fan, and a pretty talented t-baller. I saw that there is a recreational league put on by the city, that should be great for him at his age, but as he gets older, if he stays on his current trajectory, he will want something a little more competitive. Are there any official Little League or Babe Ruth leagues in the area? How about travel teams?

Ford Vehicle Service

Where does everyone that has a Ford take their vehicle for service? Saw the reviews for Castle Rock Ford service dept and am a little skeptical to trust them with anything short of a rental car.

Anyone getting rid of old carpet?

I’m looking to dampen some sound in my shed and need a bunch of carpet. Have a truck and a happy can do attitude. Also open to ideas on how to accomplish this because this is the best I got lol.

Playing guitar and bass and mic - not drums!

Lowe’s or Home Depot

Curious if everyone has had similar experiences as I have. Generally speaking, I find the folks at Home Depot helpful, while at Lowes, not so much. Have you had the same experience?

What’s going on downtown near the hideaway?

Just drove by on I-25 (this is about 5am) and there must have been more than a dozen emergency vehicles spread around the block. Anyone know what’s up?

Water tastes like mold

We moved to Castle Rock from Colorado springs in February. The water taste from the tap wasn't great, but seemed fine. But now, as of last week, it now has a taste that I would describe as tasting like mold. The taste is so bad, it isn't drinkable without gagging and even rinsing mouth with water from the tap doesn't seem safe.

We read that there was some water maintenance being done through mid may. They were using free chlorine and will be switching back to chloramine. The information I found says this maintenance should go through mid may, so the timing kind of correlates with that.

So the question, is this new taste the standard? If so wtf, I would rather take the chlorine taste over this.

No street racing last night.

Thank you Castle Rock PD. It was absolutely delightful to not hear the idiots and assholes racing up and down 25 last night.

Your efforts to keep our community safe are greatly appreciated!
