Transportation

Alright. Need someone to chime in with information or an idea.

I live out here in castle rock. My vehicles engine jumped timing and the engine destroyed itself. This is my only car now its toast. I have a small family and a job and a new job lined up. I make a paycheck to paycheck salary, I dont have alot of money 1k or less. My current job is in the golden area, and the new job on Evans and Dhalia. Ive seen no rtd out here I know theres a station in Lone tree for the light rail. Uber out here runs close to 20 bucks a trip . I cant afford a car payment everymonth 400- 600 seems to be the norm.

If you have no functioning car how do you get out of this town for work ????

Is there a shuttle or carpool service to the light rail?

Is their a service that helps people down on their luck get something to drive ?

Is there ride vouchers through uber or yellow cab to get to the light rail?

Does anyone out here or know someone that has an old running vehicle for around 1k that they want to sell . If it can get me to the light rail , and has a clean title... thats all I care about?

Jeff Hunt Doesn’t Want 5 Douglas County Commissioners…

FYI: He and Heidi Ganahl charged admission for this festival and pocketed the profits. We all paid for it. The grifters are scared the gravy train that is our tax money will dry up for them if we have more representation. Fiscally conservative, my 🍑.

Shaded Parks and Playgrounds

Parents of small kids, where do you take them to play in the summer? I grew up here and am back to visit for a few weeks with two littles. Living in the PNW has made me soft and pasty, and I can't believe I ever thrived in sun/heat like this. But the Washingtonian in me also can't bear the thought of letting a sunny day go to waste, and frankly, we'll all go crazy if we're stuck inside all day.

I've seen other parks in the mountain west with giant sun sails over the play structures. Has anything like that been built here?

2nd day of school lockdown

There was a "medical emergency" at Flagstone Elementary yesterday. Rumor has it, a 1st grader with a history of violence slammed a kid's head into a pole that required staples after an ambulance ride. This kid with a history like this, is still at school apparently. How is it that the district isn't taking this more seriously and protecting innocent children from violence?

Freeway merge lights

What’s the deal with these freeway entrance merging lights? Specifically the southbound I-25 freeway entrance off Meadows Pkwy? Every day it feels like there is a back up from someone waiting 20+ secs waiting for the light to change green. I understand the idea behind these but cmon people just give a few seconds and then go we don’t need to over complicate the system. As long as there is a car width between merging onto the freeway should be easy as pie. What also gets me is the double merge lanes where the sign says “one car per light” and both cars go 99.7% of the time. Coming from AZ at least the lights would alternate to distinguish which lane should go. Whoever’s idea that was should be punished… I’m sure it can’t be that difficult to adjust that because as the system is today and throughout Denver from what I’ve seen it’s horrible and borderline useless.

Best Bagels In Castle Rock

Hey everyone, I’m wondering where to get the best bagels in the Castle Rock area. We’re moving from Florida where great NY style bagels are available freshly baked at our local TooJays Deli. The ones there are so authentic… (sigh), I’m not sure we’ll we’ll approximate that level of greatness, but I’ll settle for really good! Thanks in advance for your help!

Recommendations For Whole House Water Softener System And Companies

Hey everyone, my husband and I will be moving into our new home in Castle Rock next year, and I’d like to get recommendations for reputable companies that install and service whole house water softener systems in the area.

I’d also love to hear about your experience with said systems, and what it takes to maintain them. And I was also curious about whether relying on the filtered water from the refrigerator would be enough for drinking and cooking or if it would be necessary to also install a separate water filter by the kitchen sink. I’m REALLY trying to avoid that, since those faucets are imo pretty hideous.

Also, these systems soften the water before it ever reaches the indoor plumbing and appliances, thereby sparing you a lot of damages to everything down the road, yes?

Thanks to all of you in advance! 🙏

Recently started a home improvement/handyman& custom carpentry business in Parker — looking to earn trust the right way

Hey everyone — my name is Mike and I recently launched Built Right Home Improvements here in the Parker / South Denver area.

I spent the last decade in a corporate sales role and ended up rediscovering how much I enjoy building and improving things with my hands - something I did as a kid and into adulthood helping my family with my father’s property management company in Chicago.

What started as fixing issues in my own home turned into custom built-ins, wainscoting, gates, furniture projects, and helping friends and neighbors with their homes. What was supposed to be passing time while I looked for my new sales role turned into a new business venture.

My goal is to be transparent, fair-priced, and work on your home as if it were my own. I’m trying to build a company that homeowners trust because we communicate well, show up when we say we will, and genuinely care about the finished product.

I’d love to hear from homeowners in the area:

What’s the biggest frustration you’ve
had with contractors or handyman services?

What would make you feel confident hiring someone new?

I’m not here to hard sell anyone — just trying to learn what people value most so I can build the business around that.

Appreciate any feedback.

Founders HOA and beehives

Was researching having a hive following the municipal code of the city only to find the HOA says it’s not allowed. Has anybody gotten a variance to raise these important pollinators?
