Which Sword should my friend use?

My friend (Bloodhunter 17 Hexblade warlock 3) just got Zareil’s sword and I was wondering if he should use it. He uses swords as ranged weapons think like Kratos. He also has a custom ability called Blessed blades or smth here are the pictures.
Have attuned currently:
Aldereath Family Moonblade
+18 to hit
d8+12[Slashing]+d8[cold]|***Martial Melee Weapon Attack.***
Finesse, You learn elvish, throw range 20/60

Sword of the Marquesian Kings
+15 to hit

d8+19[Slashing]+2d8[Radiant]|***Martial Melee Weapon Attack.***
You can read, write, and speak Celestial. You gain resistance to radiant and necrotic dmg. Your charisma score becomes 20. You sprout wings that give you a 90 ft fly speed. Your eyes become luminous and give you truesight. Fiends have disadvantage on attacks against you within 10 ft. You have advantage on all insight checks. Throw range 20/60. While attuned your AC increases by 1

I don’t have the Attack stats for Zariel’s sword but My DM told me that it’s fire dmg and it will bypass resistances and immunities like hellfire but it doesn’t have any other properties of hellfire.

Custom ability:

Boon of Blessed Blades- Every time you crit with an attuned weapon, you gain an additional effect up to 4 effects per weapon. These effects last until the end of the combat.
- Blessing of Marquetian Kings: Level 0: The saint- you heal 2d8 when you miss, Level 1: The Soldier- +2 to AC, +1 to all saves, Level 2: The poet-Immune to charm, frighten, poison, and stun, Level 3- Builder-when you hit an enemy they have disadvantage on all attack rolls until the end of your next turn, Level 4-King- When you hit, you and allies have advantage on all attacks and crit range decreases by 1 until start of your next turn
- Blessing of the Aldreath Family: Level 0: The Leader-when you miss, add do to next attack and dmg, Level 1: The Striker- BA empower strike and roll max dmg for that turn, Level 2: The Healer- you can hit an ally and heal them for the dmg you would have delt, Level 3-Tank- whenever you or ally within 30 ft benefits from relentless, death ward, etc, restore half hp max. Level 4:Mage- Reaction prevent spell within 60 ft
-Blessing of Avernus: Level 0: Zariel: Whenever you mis an attack, you still deal 2d10 fire dmg that bypasses resistance and immunity. Level 1:
Tiamat: If your Crimson rite is active you may switch it to the rite of the Dragon. if it is not active, you may activate it to Rite of the Dragon. Rite of the Dragon: You deal 1d6 acid, poison, fire, cold, and lightning. Level 2: Bel- Whenever you hit with an attack roll, you deal extra dmg equal to half the base dig at the start of the targets next turn. Level 3: Set: If you get 10 higher than the AC on an attack. DC 15 con save of die. Level 4:
Nergal: Allies within 30 ft can concentrate on two spells at once

What are the best 2 swords or are they all good enough to where I shown look into trying to having him attune to all of them (which I would have to sacrifice his attunement to his armor, that isn’t amazing)

Mapping out progression for a rogue/ranger build

Hey everyone, I could use some advice building my next character

Context: I’m designing a Rogue/Ranger multiclass for a higher level campaign that starts at level 12 and might see us play until level 17-20. We use 2014 rules, with some 2024 exceptions at our DM’s discretion (Rogue gets Reliable Talent at level 7 for example). Additionally, everyone gets a free feat.

I thought about going with an Arcane Trickster 7 / Gloom Stalker 5 multiclass because I prefer the spell utility over the conditional burst damage potential of Assassin. My weapon of choice would be a light or heavy crossbow. The idea is to have multiple ways to generate advantage on both weapon attacks to crit fish for sneak attacks and sharpshooter bonus damage.

Regarding spellcasting, Arcane Trickster uses 2024 rules so no spell school restrictions. I’m trying to find which level 0-2 spells from the wizard and ranger lists would best compliment my playstyle/which synergies you would point out. Feel free to be as elaborate as possible, the more suggestions the better

As for higher levels, my character’s backstory is set up in a way that lets them further multiclass into wizard or fighter (this lore tie-in was one of our DM’s requirements for the campaign).

Do you think two levels of fighter for action surge down the line are worth it?

Would you first grab rogue level 8 for the next ASI?

What are your thoughts on grabbing a few wizard levels for more utility cantrips and another subclass?

Should I scrap multiclassing altogether and try an Arcane Trickster+Haste setup instead?

Map out the character level progression as much as you want, I genuinely appreciate any bit of insight you may have.

Thank you in advance for all of your ideas

Build help

Hey I was wondering if I could get some build help for my Fighter 5.5 but with 5 e subclass(subclass I plan on using is Samurai or Echo Knight )for a BALDUR'S GATE: DESCENT INTO Avernus campaign going from lvl 2-13… Currently 2nd lvl Geppetten(living plush from the Valda Spire of Secrets players pack) which spieces features are:Darkvison 60 feet, Construct Nature You don’t need food, drink, or air. You don’t need to sleep, and magic can’t put you to sleep. You can finish a Long Rest in 4 hours if you spend those hours in a motionless state, during which you retain consciousness,Geppettin Construction: Plushie You are stuffed with fluff. When you take Bludgeoning damage, you can take a Reaction to gain Resistance to the triggering damage. You are also knocked 5 feet away from the source of the damage. You can’t take this Reaction if you can’t be knocked away from the source of the damage
scores after modifiers from the Harper background (dex, int, cha +1)are 16,12,16,8,14,11… my fighting style is Dueling and skills from fighter are Athletics and Perception and from the Harper background are Performance, Sleight of Hand. Racial: Intimidation, Performance, Persuasion.Weapon Mastery are Longsword,Javelin and Glaive. Currently weilding a longsword and a shield… mostly going to be melee focused… new to fighter and also am not the best on planning out a build… and I know the background doesn’t seem optimal but I took it for character backstory reasons… thanks for the help and apologies for the novel

Warlock - to multiclass or no?

For context, I usually play Artificers or Sorcerers. Never played a Warlock before and also never multi-classed before (aside from a 1-shot) so no idea if this is a good idea.

I currently have a level 5 Earth Genasi Genie Warlock (Dao). I am considering multi-classing into Eloquence Bard for 3 levels after reaching Warlock level 6 then go back to Warlock for the rest of the build. Problem is, I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Current stats:
8 Str
12 Dex
15 Con
10 Int
14 Wis
20 Cha

Started with Magic Initiate (Cleric) from my background and took Fey Touched at level 4 so I have a boat load of spells at my disposal (many of which are 1/LR or at-will through invocations) and my go-to strat is basically an aoe (spike growth for now) and EB enemies in/out of it - the good ol' cheese grater tactic.

Now, the main purpose of Eloquence Bard is the social aspect (Silver Tongue), although the extra spells and slots and Unsettling Words doesn't hurt because, in the campaign I'm in we're moving toward more of a political intrigue (we're positioning ourselves for a coup) so I feel like having Jack of All Trades, bardic inspiration and that min 10 on a Deception or Persuasion rolls would be extremely valuable, along with access to more spells I'd find useful that I don't have to worry about pact slots when I use them.

Here's the problem though, the more I look at it and the more I look into Bard/Warlock multi-classing, the more I get the impression that you're usually better to grab 2-3 levels of Warlock and go Bard the rest of the way.

So I guess the main question is do I just stick with Warlock and grab feats like Skilled/Skill expert/Actor to boost the skill check reliability and just deal with the lack of extra spells and slots; or will taking 3 levels of bard actually be worth the trade off in the long run?

New player. Build help.

I’ve done 1 small campaign last year. Played it very straight forward as a Paladin. Am starting a new longer campaign in a few weeks. Looking for any help or advice for the character Im thinking of building. I have done some research.

The build Im interested in is a Aarakcora race way of mercy monk with 2 levels of peace Cleric.

Ive watched a few videos and done some reading. In general I like being more of a support/utility character but want to be able to mix healing as well as being an effective damagw dealer.

Some questions I have…. Mainly Ki points how and when I can use them, along with attack actions and bonus actions and such.

Also. Am I more effective/better off being unarmed. Or can i use a weapon like a spear to add range and projectile attacks

Any other advice is also greatly appreciated

Minor conjuration+Fast hands

What's your experience with basing a build around this?

  1. Do you lean rogue?
  2. Do you run dual daggers and resource manage empty hands?
  3. How do you leverage sneak attacks vs bombs?
  4. How do you rule regarding poisons/bombs and why?
  5. Is it an unfun character concept?
  6. What's a weakness one has to take into account - outside of dull rulings?
  7. Which spells do you run?

Backup Character Ideas

5E Currently playing a home brew campaign, the whole party is very new to the game, so, most encounters are either quick or 3 hours long. I’ve had a few scares of my character getting downed in combat so I need backup ideas in case I die.

Our party:
High elf wizard 3
Human Rogue 4
Dwarf Cleric 5
Halfling Bard 4 (me)

Based on the party, what would a fun backup be?

I’ve played warlock and monk before this but I don’t have much experience with other classes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

First time player help with character creation

I'm a first time player, closest I've done is baulders gate 3. I'm about to start campaign with some friends. My chemo treatments have me stuck at home alot so some friends are using DnD to get me up and interacting.

We are using Ravenloft and dnd 5e (guess how you say that) all of us players are basically doing Marvel charcters. Need help with my character, I'm doing Moon Knight (one of my favorite Marvel characters besides Spider-Man, Ghost Rider and Cap.)

Every search I've done doesn't give me much info other than using stuff like a fighter/undead Hex warlock with a reborn race which makes since with who Moon Knight is.

The DM has no clue how to create him either other than having me do 2 stats (we rolled for those last weekend, same numbers just in different slots) to change personalities and using the phase of the current Moon to give an advantage if it's over a half Moon.

I need help filling this character sheet out. Supposed to be a lvl 5. It's confusing the heck out of me. My rolled numbers are; 16, 12, 17, 13, 17, and 9. And the DM not having me use a Moon touch weapon (we sre using the moon phases instead)

Is there anyone that can help me out?

I need some help with a fighter paladin build

So. Context, I have been playing in this party for seven years regularly. I love this game, and most of our decisions have been made on a character basis rather than minmaxing. So my fighter sun elf decided that the best thing for him to do in a story beat was to take a paladin oath. I do not regret this. However, I like being a hard hitter and a tank. I'm a fighter paladin - ideal right? Unfortunately charisma was my dump stat. like it's bad. +5 strength, +1 dex, +1 con, +2 int, +3 wis, -3 cha. I'm not great at the rules, I don't understand a lot of stuff, but I do know that for paladins, charisma is important. My elf has the charisma of a door post. He's a level 11 fighter, level 1 paladin. I don't know how to make the paladin bit of his build work. We've got 2 rogues, one is a damage dealer, one is a dodge tank, 1 bard who can't fail any charisma rolls (she accidentally minmaxed trying to avoid other peoples niches), 2 wizards, one a glass canon and the other our healer. My fighter used to be damage dealer, but rogues with the sneak attack ability and wizard who learnt every single fire spell he was allowed outclassed him quickly so he became the tank, he's not great at this and I'd like to improve him. Any thoughts? He's my first DnD character so I didn't build him perfectly since I had no idea what I was doing for the first 3 or 4 levels. I've never minded that he wasn't minmaxed in any way until recently, since everyone else is so well suited to their niche.

Please help me optimize my Summoner Warlock (Level 7).

First off, I don't want to min-max. I'd be interested in insights from more proficient Warlock players since this is my first one. I'm interested in alternative ideas that I might not see, pitfalls I should avoid, or creative ways to utilize my kit that I'm currently not seeing.

My current sheet:

**Level 7**

**Invocations:**

* Pact of the Chain (Note: This is your Pact Boon)
* Agonizing Blast
* One with Shadows
* Investment of the Chain Master
* Eldritch Mind
* Gaze of 2 minds

**Subclass:**

* Great Old One (can't change)

**4th Level Feat:**

* Fey Touched

**Spells:**

* Eldrich blast, Mage hand, Mind sliver, Detect magic, mirror image, fly, Major image, summon fey, banishment , Dimension Door, Shadow of Moil + all GOO spells

**Background:**

* Charlatan

**Human Feat:**

* Alert

**Point Buy:**

* Str 8, Dex 14, Con 14+1, Int 10, Wis 10, Cha 15+2+1

Currently, I use Find Familiar early in the day and summon one monster in combat.

Combat looks like this after summoning: Eldritch Blast, bonus action command familiar to attack, familiar and summon attack.

thanks for reading im super interessted since i coulndt find alot of input online :)

Need help choosing allies

My party gets to make defeated bosses allies (without legendary actions and resistances) but with the unique abilities in the legendary actions ported over if we pass a check

So I need help pick which Arch devils we should pick to add to a list of summons we can pick from. My goals is to pick the strongest but also ones that have unique use cases.

Arch devils:
Mephistopheles(already picked)
Baezblum
Glasya
Levistas
Beial
Fierna
Mammon
Dispater
Zariel

Party info:
Cleric
Fighter
Blood Hunter
Druid
Sometimes a Bard too

The list they are being added already has

A Monk

A Druid w/ spelling focus

A Buffer and Debuffer

A Support Bard

An Attacker w/ Buffing abilities

As Menationed, Mephistopheles

The 8 wizard from the Cerberus assembly
-Abjuration
-Conjuration
-Divination
-Enchantment
-Transmutation
-Necromancy
-Evocation

(I know that the list isn’t that detailed but I don t have access to the character sheets so I’m going off my poorly written notes)

Inquisitive Rogue/Drunken Master Monk multiclass? Does this suck?

I don't know how to better phrase the question.

I'm pretty new to DnD, only done 1 short campaign that fizzled out after a couple months, and a bunch of one/two shots.

Obviously this is a pretty role-play heavy multiclass, and that's what I plan on playing it as, but I'm also just curious about the deeper mechanics and synergies between the 2 classes/subclasses, (if there are any).

If the 2 classes REALLY clash and suck together, I'd also love any suggestions or advice for this character idea? How to make them both mechanically viable while still fitting my original vision?

------

You don't actually need to read anything below this. Its just the actual character concept I'm tryna build.

The character idea is basically just a drunk Sherlock Holmes type. (Also really wanna make em a Harengon, but idk if that race is commonly allowed by DMs- it seems a bit out there).

I've got a short but (IMO) interesting backstory written up-

Parents fled the Feywild for unknown reasons, joined a guild of petty criminals, and were killed by corrupt Waterdeep law enforcement. Before they died, his mother taught Flynn (my PC) a bunch of spiritual stuff about balance and ki (I honestly had no clue how to include the monk side of things, this is the best I got). Then he grew up on the streets until he was taken under the wing of a city investigator. Then the investigator is framed for a crime/killed and the corrupt officials push Flynn back out onto the streets.

----

Any help or advice would be amazing!

If you wanted to play a character like this, how would you build them?

I believe my next one shot is starting us out at level 8, and there's a chance that'll turn into a full campaign. But even if it doesn't, I'm really interested in playing this character and wanna make sure it's really fun.

What's your D&D class tier list? Built a free one you can share

Rank all 13 D&D classes from S to F, you can drag and drop or tap and place. When you're done you can get a shareable link and even download the image if you want.

There is no wrong answers haha. Your rankings probably look completely different depending on what classes you've played, or whether you are ranking based on combat, roleplaying, new player friendliness, fun factor, etc. Thats the fun part. I would rank Ranger S tier mainly because thats the class I play the most haha.

Would love to see how people rank and what they base their rankings off of.

Also open to feedback and maybe other tier list ideas within D&D, i've thought about maybe doing subclasses within a specific class, maybe spells, monsters, etc. Let me know what you would want ranked!

Extended Preview of Mythological Items, coming soon on Kickstarter!

Hello, fellow adventurers! Today, we are excited to share an extended preview of magic items from our upcoming Kickstarter project, 300+ Mythological Items for 5E and 2024.

Step into a realm of ancient gods, legendary heroes, and forgotten civilizations with Mythological Items, a comprehensive compendium featuring over 300 magical items specifically designed for 5E and its 2024 ruleset update. This manual spans a vast array of cultural traditions, organizing its treasures into regional categories for easy reference and immersive worldbuilding. Each item includes not only full game mechanics, but also lore and background information to integrate it seamlessly into your campaign, whether as treasure, quest rewards, or the key to an unfolding mythic saga. From the storm-summoning weapons of thunder gods to cursed trinkets whispered of in ancient lore, this book brings myth to your table like never before.

This manual offers an extensive collection of magical items that can be incorporated into any campaign, regardless of its connection to specific mythological themes. The items presented in this volume, drawn from a multitude of global legends and folklore, are envisioned to enhance the diversity and depth of any fantasy world. This eclectic array mirrors the inherent blending of elements in many worlds and settings, where influences from various cultures and mythologies coexist harmoniously. For instance, Thor’s Hammer, Mjölnir, could serve as the centerpiece of a divine quest, while Draupnir, the Norse ring of endless wealth, might drive political intrigue or power struggles in a kingdom torn by greed.

Mythological Items also provides a solid foundation for campaigns that wish to delve deeper into the relics of a specific mythology or blend multiple traditions into a larger, interconnected setting. A campaign inspired by Greek mythology could see players donning the Nemean Lion’s Pelt, becoming nearly invulnerable as they take on challenges worthy of Heracles himself, while a campaign drawing from Japanese folklore could involve uncovering the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, the fabled grass-cutting sword tied to imperial lineage and divine storms.

We suggest checking our pre-launch page for additional info and an extended 30-page preview of our compendium, scheduled to release in September! Alternatively, you can also subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated on upcoming projects, special offers, and important news about our past and future works.

Happy adventuring!

LvL 7 Warlock + LvL 1 Oath of Vengeance Paladin multiclassing, could this work?

I'm a level 7 Celestial Warlock (tabaxi) considering multiclassing to improve my combat performance. I'm thinking of Oath of Vengeance Paladin (it fits my character’s journey, even though Oath of the Ancients might seem more obvious because of the Celestial theme), but I'm unsure because one side is ranged and the other is melee. The extra spell slots, higher AC, and getting Divine Smite from level 2 all seem pretty strong, though.

Could this combo work? How? Or would the build simply be stronger if I stayed pure Warlock?

I've never multiclassed before, so any experiences or advice would be super appreciated.:)

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitforge.mastersofdungeon&hl

Si jugáis en iOS, podéis hacerlo aquí:
https://testflight.apple.com/join/mg6UrBH9

Hexblade warlock build help

hey guys, me and my friends are going to start the Tyranny of Dragons campaign soon (lvl 1-15), and I have a build outline (kinda) and I would like advice on how to play this subclass, or if im doing anything wrong and it would be better to switch some things. btw my gm likes to use mainly 2014 rules.

THE PLAN: (point buy stats gets me 15 cha)
- hexblade warlock pact of the blade NO MULTICLASSING
race: skadar-kai (+2 cha +1 con and free BA teleport)
lvl 4: polearm master feat
lvl 8: ASI improvement +2 cha
lvl 12: elven accuracy for the +1 cha (gets to 20)
- the plan is to use a glaive

- this is only my second big campaign ever and i’ve never played warlock before, so if I could get advice on what spells/cantrips and invocations to pick at each level it would be so helpful, I also know about the warcaster feat, or sentinel. would they be worth switching something? the shadar-kai teleport seems very strong, should I keep this race or take variant human for an extra feat? I want to state that im supposed to be the party’s damage dealer so thats what the build needs to be, also, what is a fitting backround for this? sorry im asking so many things… and any other tips or something that slipped my mind is greatly appreciated!
