Famous bullfighter Morante de la Puebla, gets gored yesterday. Currently in ICU with a “very severe” prognosis.

Wound described as “Bull horn wound in the posterior anal margin with a trajectory of approximately 10 centimeters (4 inch) , partially injuring the anal sphincter muscles with a 1.5-centimeter (0.6 inch) perforation of the posterior rectal wall.”

He went surgery immediately in the clinic inside the plaza, and then moved to a hospital in Sevilla where he is currently in the ICU but evolving positively, he will be out of bullfighting for 2 to 10 months. The surgery was complicated because in a case where the muscles hadn’t been repaired correctly this would have caused medical incontinence. Morante is considered the most famous active bullfighter in the world.
