IM CLUELESS HELP

hi im currently trying to buy som esr products for my partner since his recent phone holder/wireless charger for the car broke :<

firstly was going to ask if theres an official amazon storefront page for australia!

also am looking at these two chargers but im not super tech savvy and dont really understand the diff between the qi2 and the magsafe~ he has an iphone 16 pro and from my understanding both would need a magsafe case to be compatible (please correct me if im wrong) ~ so the plan is also to get the phone case attached to the images above.

from my understanding they should both supply 15W for the iphone but qi2 is just more universal? does it benefit the iphone in any way more than the magsafe?
also did some research to find that higher W can damage the phone battery due to overheating ~ can somebody please help me confirm this? honestly id like a higher W if possible but dont want to damage battery so i think 15W is just fine too.

also read that it needs some kind of power bank or adaptor that supplies 20W or more and dont know where to start with that @-@
any help appreciated i feel so lost

The Truth About Wireless Charging-03: Qi vs. MagSafe. What's Actually the Difference?

If you've ever shopped for a magsafe charger, you've probably seen labels like:

  • Qi
  • MagSafe
  • MFM
  • Qi2
  • Qi2.2

There are just too many wireless charging terms to keep track of, and they don't always make sense at face value. For an average person trying to buy a wireless charger, having to Google each one separately just to understand what they all mean is far too cumbersome.

So today, let's clear up one of the biggest misconceptions in wireless charging: Qi and MagSafe.

1. Qi is the charging standard

Think of Qi as the language your phone and charger use to communicate. Developed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), Qi defines how wireless power is transferred safely between devices. If both your phone and charger support Qi, they'll be able to charge wirelessly. But Qi itself doesn't tell your phone where to sit on the charger.

That's where MagSafe comes in.

2. MagSafe adds magnetic alignment

Apple introduced MagSafe with the iPhone 12.

Inside every MagSafe-compatible iPhone is a ring of magnets surrounding the charging coil. A MagSafe charger contains a matching magnetic ring. Instead of placing your phone somewhere that's "close enough," the magnets automatically guide it into the optimal charging position.

It sounds like a small improvement, but it solves one of the biggest challenges in wireless charging. As we talked about in the previous chapter, even a slight coil misalignment can reduce charging efficiency, waste energy, and generate more heat. MagSafe helps keep the coils properly aligned throughout the charging session, making efficient power transfer much easier.

3. Does MagSafe charge faster?

Not by itself. One of the most common misconceptions is that the magnets are what make MagSafe faster.

They don't.

The magnets don't increase charging power. Instead, they help maintain accurate coil alignment, allowing power to transfer more efficiently. That usually means:

  • less energy wasted
  • less heat generated
  • more stable charging
  • more consistent charging speeds

In other words, MagSafe improves charging efficiency, not charging power.

4. So what is MFM?

You may also come across the label MFM, which stands for Made for MagSafe.

Unlike Qi or MagSafe, MFM isn't a charging technology. It's Apple's certification program for MagSafe accessories. An MFM-certified charger has been tested by Apple to meet its requirements for compatibility, safety, and charging performance. So while Qi is a wireless charging standard and MagSafe is Apple's magnetic alignment system, MFM simply tells you that Apple has officially certified that MagSafe implementation.

5. Then where do Qi2 and Qi2.2 fit in?

For years, magnetic alignment was mostly part of Apple's MagSafe ecosystem. To bring that experience to more devices, the Wireless Power Consortium introduced Qi2, incorporating a standardized magnetic alignment system inspired by MagSafe. So now Android devices can also enjoy fast wireless charging.

The latest evolution is Qi2.2, which continues to build on that foundation while supporting higher charging capabilities on compatible devices.

That's why ESR's latest-generation magsafe charger, the CryoBoost series, invest more to support the Qi2.2 protocol. Combined with precise magnetic alignment and CryoBoost's active cooling system, they're designed to deliver fast, stable charging while keeping heat under control.

We'll take a closer look at what makes Qi2.2 different, and why it's becoming the next step for wireless charging, in the next chapter.

So... Qi or MagSafe? The short answer is:

Qi tells your phone how to charge.

MagSafe helps your phone where to charge.

They're not replacing each other. They're solving different parts of the same wireless charging experience.

As wireless charging continues to evolve, technologies like Qi2 and Qi2.2 are bringing precise magnetic alignment beyond Apple's ecosystem, making wireless charging faster, more reliable, and easier to use across a growing range of devices.

That wraps up another chapter of ESR's Wireless Charging 101.

In our next chapter, we'll dive into Qi2.2 itself: what has actually changed from previous generations, what improvements it brings, and whether it's worth upgrading your current wireless charger.

As always, if there's another wireless charging topic you'd like us to cover, let us know in the comments. We'd love to include it in a future chapter.

Is anyone here actually using the cryoboost foldable charger?

How fast is the charging speed? How does it compare to wired charging? I kind of regret not buying it during Prime Day…

I’m seriously tempted now.Does it really not heat up while charging?

Qi2 Wireless Car Charger with Cryoboost cooling arrived broken

In all my years and all my amazon orders Ive never had an item arrive already broken in the package. I had been wary of this brand, assuming its just a shitty no name Amazon brand, and got convinced because this wireless car charger had the best comments and reviews all over reddit, and as best as I could tell you were all real people super happy with your purchases and customer service.

I opened the packaged and immediately broken pieces flew out. The piece on the charger that screws into the vent attachment had broken off into four separate pieces.

Wanted to post and give the company a chance to respond since no one was available on Amazon, and wanted some feedback on if I should try the same item again from people who have bought it.

Thank you ESR for the beautiful case!

I recently won the new summer series case and I have to say it’s been amazing! The case feels nice in the hand and the print has a nice 3D feel. The MagSafe magnet is very strong as well. Below are some images showing the case!

Thank you u/ESR_official again for sending out the case! 😄

ESR told me to email them. Been 5 days and no response. Should I follow up?

Hey guys I recently made a post about my esr case, received a response from esr official saying to email them, so I did 5 days ago and have yet to receive any response.

How long did it take for you guys to get a response? Should I follow up? Or try another email?
