Looking for an old WRKT radio bit series
Does anyone remember Rocket Sports with Rollo? It aired occasionally in the afternoons on Rocket 101 (100.9 WRKT). It was some kid and his buddy talking trash about sports and sports related material. The material is beyond dated at this point, but i want to hear it for nostalgia. Or to ruin another happy childhood memory by revisiting the awesome past to realize its dumb. Potato/Tomato.
Thanks for reading!

Volkswagen mechanics(TDI)
I have an old Volkswagen TDI and it needs some work. Any suggestions on a mechanic? Unless you think my best bet is the dealership like new motors.
Support for special needs individuals
Hi, I am moving to Erie soon, I have a special needs sister with severe intellectual disabilities and was passionate about improving accessibility for individuals like her in my area.
I was wondering how accessibility looks for individuals with intellectual disabilities, are there stuff for them to do? My sis is not coming with, but would love to help similarly if possible.
If anyone as any insight I would really appreciate it!
Which animal safari for the kids and grandpas?
Would like to take the kids (toddlers) and grandparents to animal safari. We are looking for variety and experience for the kids. In other words to include some rare animals like lions, tigers, rhinos...etc other than just llamas and giraffes. I came across 4 options:
Keystone Safari (Grove City, PA): the closest. Offers both walking and drive through options. Seems mid range pricing. Not sure about variety.
African Safari Wildlife Park (Port Clinton, OH): Offers drive through option. Seems limited animal options. Some reviews complained of car damage from animals. But I am willing to rent a car and put some protection if people would recommend this park the most.
The Wilds (Cumberland, OH): The farthest and most expensive. Some reviews stated it's a true wild experience but it can be hit or miss with animals.
The Farm at Walnut Creek (Sugarcreek, OH): Very mixed and contrasted reviews on the web from very enjoyable to just a simple Amish farm without animal variety.
We are not from Erie and relatively new to the area so wanted to know what locals think. I will also welcome any other suggestions. Niagara falls is on my bucket list too.
Need Advice on Moving to Erie
My wife and I are nearing retirement (we're both 63 and each about 3.5 years away from it) and we're planning on moving to Erie to be near our son. He's close to graduating from Gannon and plans to stay in the Erie area. We're seeking advice on whether to buy a house in a condominium community, or in a non-condo neighborhood (apartment life isn't for us). On the one hand, I worry about rising HOA fees with a condominium; on the other hand, I don't know how expensive landscaping and snow removal will be in a non-condo neighborhood as I get older. Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated.
Fifty Years Ago Today…
On July 4, 1976 (or, possibly, on Saturday, but I really think it was after church on the Sunday) as all the months of preparation and celebration for the Bicentennial came to a head, the congregation of Sarah Hearn Memorial Presbyterian Church had a picnic on the lawn. I was 13. I remember it vividly, probably in part because in just a few weeks we were moving away from Erie and leaving behind the church I’d been born in and grew up with.
I took these pictures a couple of years ago on a visit. Looking the picture of the lawn, sandwiched between the church building and the house next door that was then the manse, I realize it can’t have been all that big an event, even taking in the backyard of the house, but to me it seemed like the nicest picnic in the world. The decorations, of course, were red, white, and blue (as were most of the clothes worn by our mothers, and even a few of the fathers), and for some reason I especially remember one old lady’s prize lemonade recipe.
It’s funny to think that all these years have passed and I’m probably nearly as old as that “old lady.” Poor Sarah Hearn is abandoned now, and a great many of the people at the picnic—for it was not, by and large a young congregation, us Sunday schoolers aside—have, as we used to say, departed the church militant to join the church triumphant. I suppose it’s possible I’m the only person remembering that sunny July morning when, it seemed to me at least, we were all so happy, if only for the day.
Chances of being approved on rent
Hello! I’m a 22 year old who is moving to the area. I have never rented or leased before. I have two dogs (goldens) I am just wondering if anyone knows the chances of me getting approved at Willowood or any other property. I would like a townhouse due to having two dogs.
I make about 2,900 clear monthly. I do work in healthcare so my monthly salary fluctuates depending upon need, but never lower than 2900. I’m looking at one that’s around 1,800 a month. I don’t have a car payment or anything else that would take a lot of money monthly.
Happy 4th weekend
Hey Erie, I'm sitting on the beach at long point Ontario watching you guys light off fireworks across the lake. Be safe out there. Happy 4th everyone 🇨🇦🤝🇺🇸

“Power Chord” W. 26th
I was driving down W. 26th (just past 79) and noticed a church that had been closed now has a sign that says “Power Chord” and something about ‘studios for musicians’. Does anyone have any insight as to what this is or if it’s some kind of new business? Can’t seem to find anything about it online. Thanks (:
How is everyone doing with the heat wave?
How are you doing with the heat wave? I’m especially wondering for people who don’t have air-conditioning in the area.
I lived out west of the mountains in WA and lots of people did not have air-conditioning during the 109 heat wave. It was awful.
Do most people have air conditioners here? If you don’t have one, how are you doing?
Is there anybody who’s a little crazy who’s loving this right now?
Just wondering how everyone’s doing.
Recycling center/ drop off
Hello, just moved here. I live near the Lecom gym. I have a lot of cardboard and some other recycling that I’d like to get rid of. I know our disposal service picks up Recycling, but is there a place I can drop it off all at once?

erienewsnow.comShort-term apartment hunt in Erie — 3-6 month lease, heat-sensitive, which of these is actually decent?
Hey Erie folks,
I’m looking for a short-term spot (3-6 months max, not trying to lock into a year) and I’ve narrowed it down to a few places. I’m planning to live alone, but I’m open to splitting a 2BR if it’s around $1,600–$1,900 total ($900ish each).
My main thing: I cannot tolerate heat well, but I handle winter fine. So strong AC/good cooling is a must. Long-term leases are a dealbreaker.
Places I’m considering:
Cider Mill Apartments
Northview Heights Apartments
Landmark Square Apartments
The Reserve at Millcreek
Lovell Place
Modern Tool Square
Questions for anyone who’s lived at or toured these:
Which of these actually offer 3-6 month leases without gouging you?
How’s the AC/cooling situation in summer? Any of these known for being ovens?
If you had to pick one for a solo 6-month stay, which would it be?
Also — where do people actually find roommates in Erie? Facebook groups? A specific site? Craigslist feels like a gamble. I’m clean, quiet, and just need someone similarly chill to split a 2BR if I go that route. Any local leads would be huge.
Not looking for luxury — just functional, cool in summer, and flexible on lease terms. Any real-world experience would be huge. Thanks!
