i just saw a post about somebody’s (beautiful) interpretation of janie, and i just wanted to share mine.

to me, janie is about my actual sister. we used to be absolutely inseparable, she genuinely was my entire world. every room we walked into, people would say ‘watch out’ because we would just be in the corner cracking each other up and ignoring everybody and everything else. when things got rough with either of our mental health, we’d just camp out in each others rooms and talk all night long. she was my built in best friend.

she’s had a boyfriend since she was a young teen, and for the first few years of their relationship, i got along with him well. i did notice her drifting away a bit, but that’s normal given the circumstances and life moving fast, as it does, so i wasn’t bothered by it.

but he ended up moving in with us a few years ago, and he’s always had drug issues, so within that time, he’s gotten her hooked on what he does. the first time they got sober together, i had hope that it would stay that way, and things would go back to normal. but coming up on a year now, they’ve moved out, became homeless, and are worse off than ever. he has convinced my sister to go no contact with my entire family

hayden captures how i feel about the entire situation better than i could myself. i feel like she was stolen from me, and now i can’t recognize her at all. she was my sister first. i haven’t seen her in months, all i do is worry and hope she comes back home one day.

i showed my mom janie, and every time we hear it we just bawl our eyeballs out. when i saw hayden preform it live, i facetimed my mom so she could see it too. it was one of the most touching and intimate moments of my life. my hands were shaking so badly that my angel of a boyfriend had to hold my wrist up so my mom could have a steady view lol.

ik this was months ago but it killed me bc I was listening to tempest this morning

we got to the aftershow somewhat early and we got pretty good spots at the venue, and while we were chillin waiting for either squirrel flowers or ethel (i cant remember which) some girls SHOVE into the crowd (PACKED af place too) and one girl smushed my friend into me and me into two other ppl (shoutout them, they were so sweet) and when we were like yo theres no room she just glared at us like okay queen....and then american teenager started playing and she was singing all the words so my friend was like well at least shes a fan🤷🏼‍♀️ then a few songs later tempest comes on and we're all swaying quietly (bc, yk, tempest) and i look over and this girl is on her fucking phone. then my friend got my attention and goes "shes fucking shazaming the song." and i see her shazam open on her phone. AND THEN SHE PUT HER ARM UP WITH HER PHONE FACING ETHEL. SHAZAMING. TEMPEST. WHILE SHES SINGING.

anyway she spent the whole show drunk af sliding into guys' dms for whatever reason and barely paid attention to ptolemaea. she eventually ended up a little too drunk and security came and got her and she knocked her drink over on a few of the ppl we made friends with in line.

truly unforgettable show (she did angels and fuselage🙂‍↕️) but it was partially bc of that girl cuz like acting like that at w concert??? wat r we doing broski lollll

I live in Canada but the CD isn’t on Amazon when I click the link from her site or if I search it up, does anyone know where I’d be able to get one? the preacher’s daughter CD is the only one I can find but I’d really like to get both if possible. Hope this isn’t a super stupid question but I’m genuinely stumped 😅 any help is appreciated!
