Toro 4100d issues

I'm going for the hail Mary here and praying someone has the answer considering the only post I've found is on the gcsaa and left unanswered.

I got a 4100d (obviously) and out of the blue it just started to throw codes. Sometimes the decks will lift up and you can limp back to the shop. Other times you can't do anything except for shut it down and let it sit. Everything points to the ECU as being the problem to me, but I've also read that that is not likely the issue. Toro said it was the fuel manifold or something which was replaced with no luck.

Thinking of being a superintendent for a local muni

Local muni currently has 1 guy for 2 courses and he’s leaving for college in a month, anything I should know before applying? I’m going to be the weekend superintendent for both courses if I get promoted. Any helpful advice is welcomed.

Bunker boy

Hi all, just started a part time job at the golf course (when im not farming) and they out me on the sand pro bunker thing. And I really like it! What are some of your tricks for working bunkers?

Spot the Hydraulic Leak

Hard to believe we had a hose blow on our roller and made one full pass front to back on this green a little over a week ago. Mild dish soap is the way to go.

Time to move courses?

Been working at a course for 6 months or so, it’s a VERY small course with a small crew too. This is my first course ever working at and I’ve found I love the work a lot.
Here’s the issue, because we’re a smaller course (family owned) our budget is really tight and there’s constraints on what can be done (water, equipment staffing etc)

My boss has said to me many times and has followed it up with some action that he would want me to stay long term and move me up within the company, however it’s the middle of the season and we’re in the red which means my hours have also been cut.

I know I’m still very new to the industry but I’m not sure if this course is the right fit for me, not sure what I’m really asking here more so ranting maybe??

It’s been in the back of my mind that I get experience at this smaller course then move to a bigger operation, I’m just wondering if I should stick the season out or what.

Wasting my time?

I just need to vent and get some opinions.
I’ve been working on a golf course maintenance crew for about 2.5 years. I’ve always tried to do whatever job I’m asked without complaining, offered to take on more responsibility, and even told my boss I’d work weekends if they needed me.
A coworker who has only been here about 6 months without having any experience working on a course just became an AIT. He’s also related to another AIT on our crew. I’m not trying to take anything away from him, but honestly it has me wondering if I’m wasting my time here.
The part that’s frustrating is I’ve never had a performance review or really been told what I need to improve to move up. It just feels like I don’t know where I stand.
Am I overthinking this, or would you guys start looking for another course if you were in my shoes?

Consultation needed pls

Hey all,

I'm not a superintendent — I'm a university student building a software tool for golf course turf management, and I've realized I've been building it based on assumptions instead of talking to the professionals who actually do the work.

I'm not here to sell anything. I genuinely just want to understand your world better. A few things I'd love your honest take on:

  • What's the most tedious or frustrating part of your daily/weekly routine that you wish was easier?
  • When you're diagnosing a problem on a green — disease, drought, whatever — what do you actually rely on? Experience, lab tests, gut, asking someone?
  • What turf tech or software have you tried that was useless or annoying, and why? (This is the most useful thing for me to hear.)
  • If a tool could save you time on one thing, what would you want it to be?

“Why is the range tee so beat up?”

Model citizen on the left. Inconsiderate munson on the right. Good thing we invested in those $200 divot patter signs this year. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Board politics

Fellow supers, how are you dealing with your boards not listening to your advice/knowledge? I'm sure it's universal and most boards are filled with complete monkeys. However, I feel like mines taking a turn for the worse this year and I could use some advice on politics/strategies. Without a long backstory for context it's hard to paint a full picture so: I'd just like some tips and tricks to reign them in a bit.

TLDR; tired of being told how to do my job and not being trusted as the professional I am. Any ideas?

Gnats.

Besides wearing safety glasses 24/7, how do y'all keep gnats out of your eyes? Whether I'm tank mixing at the shop, or anywhere on the course, my staff and I are bombed with the little MFers.

Best of luck through the next 90 days everyone!
