Help!! Seed not growing for new build in central Ohio.

I can’t for the love of god get the seed in my back yard to come in. It was put down about three weeks ago but has become infested with weeds.

I have noticed birds eating the seed(under the straw) but can’t keep them off it l. Especially while at work.

What products should I buy to get the grass growing?

I have begun ripping up the netting as well to pull the weeds. Should I rip up all the netting?

Troubleshoot St Aug!

Hello. Installed new sod as part of a whole house remodel. Did well for about 4-6 weeks and is now struggling in quite a few spots. Irrigation seems to be pretty even but I’m reconfirming now by heavily spot watering. Google says it’s root rot, but when I dig down a bit nothing seems soggy or hardly moist. Lastly, I don’t see insects.

Any help is appreciated on steps to diagnose and then treat. Could some very alkaline soil in spots due to digging be to blame?

Thanks!

Darwin Grass - Weed or Lawn?

Hi everyone, I just bought the house and had absolutely no idea about gardening/botanic before. By GPT and google search, I can barely confidently identify two lawn species on my backyard - Darwin hairy paspalum and broadleaf carpet grass. The rest of them still confuse me a lot because the AI outcomes usually give me a big question mark and there is not much online info about the lawn in NT…

Pic 1,2,3: GPT told me is crabgrass, can’t confirm as the internet pictures don’t look the same to me.

Pic 4,5,6: told by GPT is QLD blue couch? Again confused.

Pic 7,8,9,10: no idea…

Sod web worm damage

Noticed the web worms, treated with a left over insecticide (didn’t work), 2 days later treated with Bifen 1oz/1k. The worms have definitely slowed down. Still see some when I do a soap test. Does this area look like it will recover? Up close lots of green stolons. (All of this damage happened in roughly 5 days), north florida

St. Augustine or Burmuda for backyard in Louisiana?

We are choosing grass for the backyard at our new house. It gets used a lot. The kids and dogs run every day. I'm looking for a type that can handle traffic and recover quickly, so I can save on the number of times for lawn care. I live in Louisiana.

I saw some local lawn posts, and it seems like most people here choose either St. Augustine or Bermuda. I'm curious whether anyone picked one for the same reason I'm considering it. Also looking for mowing height advice. I have a Navimow i210, so if anyone uses the same mower with either grass type, what height setting has worked best for you?

Blue Resilience in SHADE?

Hey Everyone. I'm in Central NY, thus a cold region. My half acre lawn I've been prepping weed killing (stopped weed killing two weeks ago) and planning to reseed but that back 1/3 is shaded. I am using Blue Resilience on the ret of the lawn but thought I'd do Blue Shadow in that shaded area. I called Twin City and they said Resilience will do well in the shade. Is that anyones experience here that tried? Or should I just do the Blue Shadow in that part? Right now it thin back there and I killed off the moss and soil tested which showed ok.

I will be seeding with a slit seeder.

How to handle this weed?

Alright, I know. This is neglectful and easy to have prevented. But I didn’t do what I was supposed to in spring, and I let the back yard get way out of hand.

This one weed is killing me though. It has intense pollen in really allergic to, so mask and goggles is required. Naturally, it’s hot as hell, so I’ll be sauna face when I work at it. And the roots are soft and fibrous and the one in the photo is much stronger than I and stuck under a bunch of rocks so I can’t pull it without tearing up a square foot of dirt. Plus it has thistles?? My socks are cactus now and I wore shorts not knowing.

What chemicals can I get at Home Depot to kill this and maybe help fertilize? And if anyone could tell me what weed this is so I can add it to my allergy profile that would be nice…

Please help

Looking for some advice on how to get a more uniform yard in terms of grass type and weed control. I have various types of grass and weeds. Some great grass and some dormant grass. Various clovers, etc. Not sure if I can save this or if I just need to kill everything and start fresh. Located in Columbus Ohio. Pictures taken in August.

Thanks!

ID Help

Not sure if this post belongs here, let me know if not.
I have this aggressive, succulent feeling “grass” that seems to have come in with my Bermuda sod. Not terribly hard to pull but there’s a good bit of it and it grows fast and the runners root faster. This is in south east GA, and the sod came from SC. Any idea what it is and best means to remove it?

Lawn Leveling assistance

Is this a bad time of year to begin lawn leveling for the Fall overseed? I know it’s not a one-time thing, but I figured I’d get started if possible. I am in Zone 6B, Northern NJ with TTTF grass.

How do I fix this

I am less concerned right now with the section of the yard that has greenery (it’s not really grass, it’s basically mowed down weeds :/) my focus is on the section of the yard that is covered in tree roots. It really does not get much sunlight as there is a lot of tree coverage. In the fall this entire yard gets flooded with needles and leaves.

I would like to cover these roots and was thinking of trying the sand/soil mix and then putting turf or something similar on top. I’m not sure if that will damage these roots? Best case scenario I can somehow grow real grass. If that seems at all possible I’d like to understand the steps I should take to get there. Any advice is appreciated as we have two young kids and another yard for them to play in, but they’re curious of this yard and I won’t let them back here. This wouldn’t be a bad yard to fix up so we can utilize it. If it’s a complete loss and I shouldn’t even try, I’d like to know that as well haha.

Bemudagrass equivalent process for aerating and overseeding

I see a lot of posts on here about folks that have weed invested lawns or unhealthy soil, and a proposed solution is to aerate and reseed. What if my Bermudagrass is full of weeds and has indications of unbalanced soil? Overseeding is not an option from my research as bermuda sod is different from bermuda seed. Is aeration still a proper solution, and then what are my options for killing off weeds/crabgrass and simply planting more grass. Is sod my only option once my soil is healthy and the weeds are dead?
