Hi, I've been playing guitar (electric) for like a month now, not too great at it yet but yesterday i realized that the end of the pick that i got with my guitar was getting really worn out. Am i supposed to keep using this one or should I buy a new one, and if a new one, which one would yall recommend i buy?

Guitar pick from my yearly festival

Here are the picks I caught at my yearly festival !

Primus, guinea pig, filth, anaal nathrakh, omnium gatherum, internal bleeding, fit for an autopsy, signs of the swarm

Cool story on the anaal nathrakh's one, a few years ago when I struggled with life this band really helped me, and I never got to see them live before this festival, so I wrote them a letter to thank them and the guitarist came to me and gave me this pick. He told me that there's only one like this in the world and that it is for me ! Even got a hug and a setlist ! It was so lovely from him !

What are your favorite picks? I'd love to check them out. I'm a big fan of trying out different picks

These are my favorites so far. I actually put bevels on my acrylic, celluloid and ultem picks. It gives them amazing attack and superb fluidity. Just for my taste.

OMEGA guitar picks is a scam, beware on Ebay, multiple accounts, all FAKE guitar picks.

I've been collecting for 15 years ,I've spent a ton of money on Omega picks, mostly Alice Cooper and Slayer, but now I come to find out everything is fake. Yes, people say they had a deal with Alice Cooper, but I have spoken to three members of the Cooper band that say they had no idea about many of these picks. LEE that is Omega now is making fake picks with the Dunlop logo on them, bands like Soundgarden. Also many other picks with the Omega logo claiming to be authentic tour picks, but I have spoken to multiple sources that say NO, those are repos, and we have no deal with Omega. Confirmed artists that say they are a scam and they have nothing to do with the fake company called Omega include, Slayer, Crue, Gordon Lightfoot, Duran Duran, Misfits, Queensryche, Styx, Buddy Guy, Allman Betts and more. All artists I have confirmed through messaging management, all say the same thing, NOT real! Now this person is going off the rails with stuff like Stevie Ray, Laney Wilson, Pearl Jam, Heart, Aerosmith, pretty much everything is FAKE! Easy to confirm any of these, just message the band management. I have sent multiple reports to Dunlop and even had a private investigator hired. This company is fake, easy to tell by their social media, or lack there of. Beware of many accounts, all the same guy LEE, Ebay accounts include wiwill-8152, coopersgoons, ThirftySounds and many more. I have lost thousands to this fraud, I have spent months reporting him to various sites, and three management companies are after him. I know where he bought his printer, where he buys the inks, the private investigator is all over it. Let's get rid of this person.

Pick identification (Right angle triangle, no brand imprint)

both sides pictured

got this pick at an assorted pick jar at a music store earlier this week. asked store where they sourced the assortment, said they order in bulk, so no clue really where it came from.

some of the picks in the jar are used, some are new, so I’m not sure if it came with no branding on the face or if it was rubbed off. fun pick to play with, honestly has a nice sound and feel. pretty thin, about fender thin width?, rounded edges make me think it’s not just an off cut. haven’t been able to find anything similar with any search terms. would like to identify brand and shape name, if possible?

advance thanks for any help!

Picks…curving?

I’ve played for years using the basic above Fender pick. On occasion, and especially of late, the picks have developed a curvature, no matter their age. It feels as if I bent and squeezed them for a while, but as far as I know, my picking style is middle of the road. And my environment is neither humid nor dry—and my playing is not good enough to make my hand red hot. : )

Is this normal?

A few picks I've caught, a few from merch kits, and some from shows in general.

1-3: Melvins, 4-7: CKY, 8/9: Down 2020 kit, 10/11: Crowbar shows, 12: Fall of the Idols/Wolfshead, 13: Louder than Life 2025 Beatbox booth, and 14: random restaurant.

Need help choosing my first “serious” pick after 7–8 years of fingerstyle/rhythm playing

Hey everyone!

I’ve been playing guitar for around 7–8 years, but almost exclusively as an accompaniment to my vocals. I’m primarily a rhythm guitarist, and I’ve always played with my fingers (using longer nails).

I did try using random picks from local shops during my first 2–3 years of playing, but they never felt comfortable, so I eventually gave up and stuck to fingerstyle. Looking back, I think the real issue was that I never actually learned proper pick technique.

Now I want to make the switch, mainly for three reasons:

  1. I feel like learning proper pick technique will open up a lot more rhythmic variations and improve my overall playing.
  2. I finally want to learn to play lead guitar after listening to john mayer's songs, and a pick is pretty much essential for the style I want to play.
  3. Managing long nails is becoming a huge pain—they keep breaking, and I’m tired of depending on them.

So I’m looking for recommendations on a pick (or maybe two picks) that would suit someone in my position. Ideally:

  1. Great for rhythm and singing accompaniment.
  2. Also capable enough for learning lead guitar.
  3. Comfortable enough that I won’t hate the transition from fingerstyle.

I’m leaning towards Dunlop picks since they seem to have the biggest variety, but I’m completely lost between Tortex, Flow, Jazz III, Primetone, Ultex, Gator Grip, etc.

If you were in my shoes, which pick(s) would you recommend? Is there a good “2-in-1” option, or should I just buy two different picks for rhythm and lead?

For context, I mostly play Bollywood, soft rock, pop, and acoustic arrangements.

Would love to hear your suggestions—and if you’ve made the same transition from fingerstyle to picks, I’d love to know what worked for you!
