When Will It Get Better

I am feeling the exact same thing what I felt in 2024, and it was very very dark. I have my GIKI test tomorrow, but I didn't study all that advance maths and physics because I dedicated my time to IBA.

I just don't know how will I find peace, was it my fault ? maybe not laziness, not procrastination, but strategy? and the fact I slept less the night before the exam? was it my fault? or IBA was never meant for me? I have loved IBA more than anything.

I remember that one time after the 2024 result I wokeup suddenly at night, I couldn't breathe properly because I was overthinking whether id EVERRR get IBA or not? So was it never meant for me? I need peace, I need a conclusion...

Career path

I'm an 18-year-old student from Pakistan and I'm genuinely stuck between two career paths.

I have admission opportunities for:

- BBA from IBA Karachi

- BS Computer Science from FAST

The important thing is that I have the aptitude and interest to succeed in either field, so this isn't a case of choosing based on what I'm capable of. I'm trying to choose the path that offers the best long-term return.

My long-term goal is financial success. I'm interested in both business and technology.

Here are the two paths I'm considering:

Option 1: BBA from IBA → ACCA (I'll definitely pursue ACCA alongside or after BBA) → MBA later if needed → Build a career in finance, consulting, accounting, or corporate leadership.

Option 2: BS Computer Science from FAST → Build strong software/AI skills → High-paying tech job (possibly abroad or remote).

I'm willing to work hard regardless of the path I choose. My biggest concerns are long-term earning potential, career growth, global opportunities, job security, work-life balance, and overall ROI.

If you were in my position today, which path would you choose and why?

I'd especially appreciate advice from:

- IBA BBA graduates

- FAST CS graduates

- People who've completed ACCA

- Recruiters

- Entrepreneurs

- Anyone who's worked in both business and tech

Please share your reasoning and real-world experiences instead of simply saying "follow your passion." I'm looking for practical, unbiased advice from people who've been through these paths.

Can someone guide me on this

OTF is asking for media consent. Is it necessary to give it? Can I reject the media part? Will there be a problem?

For Everyone Reapplying to IBA in 2027 Should I do this??

Alhamdulillah, I finally secured direct admission to IBA's BBA program! ❤️

I know many of you are heartbroken after the results. If you're planning to reapply in Round 1, 2027, or you're taking a gap year, don't give up.

I've been thinking about starting a YouTube channel where I'll upload free, in-depth marathon lectures covering every single chapter tested in IBA's BCAT, along with all the PDFs, notes, and study materials I used.

As you know, most BCAT preparation courses out there are very expensive, and I want to make quality preparation accessible to everyone.

Before I start, I want your opinion. Would you actually watch these videos? If enough people are interested, I'll give it my all and upload consistently.

Let me know your thoughts!

Ksbl or iobm, honestly

I've seen this comparison a lot but never got my answer cause equal votes are on both sides. But for the final time which one is actually actually better. I failed the iba's aptitude test and I'll go for it again but I want to have a backup option cause I won't be giving a third attempt in iba. Internet has a lot of points already that ksbl is more precise and academic and iobm has exposure blah blah but as a newbie I don't know if exposure is better or academic focus. Please honest help, if u're studying at anyone don't take ur unis side just because u're there.

For those who wanna transfer from math to cs

I see a lot of posts regarding transferring from Math to cs so I decided to make a post instead of explaining everything in the comments.

IBA introduced the BS Mathematics program 4 years ago in 2022, and the first batch graduated this year. Now, people have concerns about whether this degree is worth pursuing, if the faculty is good, and whether they should transfer.

So, I'll first walk you through the transfer process. You just need to take the aptitude test in Round 1 (R1) in March. Start preparing for the test in December, after your semester break. If you clear R1, that's great! You can take courses in the summer (this is only allowed for people with deficiencies). But if you don't clear R1, it’s totally fine. you can just appear for R2. Half of my batch transferred out after the first year, but they didn't just go to CS. People also transferred to Eco Math, Eco, ACF, and BBA. So, if you have an interest in any other program, make sure to apply for that school as well.

After transferring, you will have about 5 deficiencies, which you can cover in the summers and your remaining semesters.

Now, about the faculty, people say the teachers aren't really good. But I've heard students from all schools say this. There are good and bad teachers everywhere. Also, it depends on what your definition of "good" is. If a teacher is great at explaining but strict with grading, some might consider them "bad." It all depends. I hope you get my point.

Generally, the people I know who transferred specifically from Math to CS aren't too stressed about graduating exactly on time, but you absolutely can if you plan it right.

If you guys have any other questions, or if I missed anything, let me know in the comments!

Do not lose hope ever.

When I came back from IBA after the test I saw people sharing some picture which a person took from their meta glasses apparently, I saw 6 questions which were from the algebra section and people were going mad in the comment section telling everyone that the answers were blah blah blah and trust me I got 2/6 correct when I analyzed those mcqs and tried to remember what I marked. I started losing hope and I thought I won't get in, as these were the questions from the questions I couldn't even think I could do wrong.

Then I started to think that it'll pass and I shouldn't overthink about it and Alhumdulillah I got in, don't ever lose hope even if you don't get in, you are doing super amazing and you'll do the best wherever you go, relax and chill

Recite this dua whenever your heart feels like giving up, hope this helps, don't let your potential be discouraged by others, stay positive and just don't lose hope.

Gap year

I didn’t apply anywhere else other than iba and i couldn’t meet maths cut off due to 3-4 mcq’s. Only bahria, ksbl and szabist is taking admissions right now. Rest of the universities have closed it already. I’m not sure now whether i should take a gap year or apply to these moderate universities? Super confused. Personally i feel like taking a gap year is a better choice.

Nustrive for nbs worth it? Helpo last chance🥲

I need genuine advice on Nustrive. Is it really that good? Right now, we only have approximately less than two weeks left for preparation. So, I was wondering that, are Nustrive videos that good? Are they NET focused? And do they explain concepts really well in those short videos? Because short videos to SAT ki bhi hoti hain, aur short videos to organic chemistry tutor ki bhi hoti hain, and you can learn concepts from there as well. So, is Nustrive worth it for the concepts for such a less time? Will it help me learn better if I only focus on these videos? Is it focussed? And I don't have to look at anything else? Please guide me on that because I have less time, rAnd should I only register for Nustrive FLPs and past papers or vids asw? And how many FLPs are there? How many papers are there? is Nustrive really worth it and will it help me get in cuz I keep getting adverts so I’m curious Because this is the only attempt I have. Also How long does the subscription last?

What to do now?!

For the last few months, I've been asking myself "What now?"

I'm from a premed bg, and I always thought I'd become a dr. I gave the medical entry test, but my score was below the required aggregate (even thu i passed that test). At that point, I was so lost that I couldn't even think about any other degree or what I should pursue. I felt like I had disappointed everyone.

I had always been a high scorer , so when reality hit, it hit me hard. I realized I had never really thought about any career other than medicine.

After that, I applied for several admission tests and even cleared some of them, but I didn't want to go there. My dream was to study at IBA. So I took a gap year, gathered all my courage, started preparing for the IBA test... and wallahhh, NAHI HUA.

Now I feel like shit.

Ab kya?

At this point, I feel like such a loser. The worst part is that everyone assumes, "Mehnat nahi ki hogi na." But I did work hard. I studied. I prayed. And now I'm just asking myself, "Why am I in this same situation again?" Maybe i just wasted my whole time, maybe mujha gap year nahi lena chahiya tha..

I don't even know how I'm going to overcome this fear of failing.

Right now, I'm thinking about enrolling in ACCA. I honestly don't know what else to do... so maybe that's what I'll end up doing.

an advice to all those who couldn't get in

Maybe it was your third attempt, maybe it was your second or third gap year but guys this is what I can tell you guys that getting into some ivy university in pakistan doesn't mean your life will get instant better or you will start printing money immediately. No doubt IBA has one of the best resources to utilise and the opportunities are vast but trust me no degree from any university will make you instant rich. It all runs down to what your goals are and what you want in life and most importantly what you do with that degree.

As someone whos studying in iba, i can tell you that your skills and what you do outside your degree also matters. Yes the iba name can sometimes gives you a heads on with jobs but most of the time it all runs down to what else youve done outside your academic curriculum. Most importantly pray for your naseeb. I cant stress this enough. There are people jinn ko bohat mehnat ker k koi cheez milthi hai aur dusray wo log hothay hain jinnko Allah asaani se cheezein dedathay hain just because they've asked like Allah has given you the ability to ask Him anything and you are upset that you couldn't get in iba? World unfortunately doesn't ends when you couldn't get into iba. You have to press harder on the gas pedal and keep moving. Thats how life is warna koi aur ap se aagay nikal jayega. 10 years balqay 5 years from now no ones gonna even care if you graduated from iba or not. It all runs down to what you do with your degree and your skills to build the life you deserve. Life iss se agay bhi mushkil hogi tou kiya har cheez per bikhar jaogay? No. You have to stay stronger for yourself and during this time, please be your own bestfriend. You cant stop living your life just because you couldn't get into the university you desired or your friends are not with you anymore. You cant stop yourself from growing and growth sometimes can be isolating. Jis manzil per pohonchna wahan pohonch jaogay.
