A Bookshelf Full of Forgotten Emotions

Every shelf carried dreams, poetry, wisdom, and memories waiting for someone to open a page. Before screens took over our evenings, there were wooden shelves, dusty pages, and stories that stayed in the heart forever. Every book on this shelf feels like a voice from another era. A quiet library where poetry, philosophy, and nostalgia still breathe together.

Happy 92nd Birthday to Ruskin Bond.

Happy 92nd Birthday to Ruskin Bond.

Through 92 seasons of rain, mist, sunlight, and quiet hill mornings, your stories have remained a place of comfort for generations of readers.
Somewhere between the silence of old rooms, the turning of worn-out pages, and the sound of rain outside a window, we found a home in your world.
92 seasons later, we still return to it.
Some forecasts never change.

Either you believe in ghost stories… or you start noticing they all sound strangely familiar

Different country, different building, different people… same story every single time.

So now I genuinely can’t tell if paranormal stories are based on something real or if humans everywhere are just scared by the exact same things.

Which Books I must read enhance my knowledge of the English language?

Kindly suggest the books you have used during those days for learning grammar and Vocabulary. Also suggest some novels or story books for beginners to start by contextual learning.

Reading books while checking dictionary side by side

I recently started reading books seriously, and I’ve run into a problem.

While reading physical books, I keep encountering unfamiliar words. I try checking a dictionary side by side, but it breaks the flow of reading and feels messy. If I use my phone to search meanings, I get distracted almost immediately and lose immersion in the book.

So now I’m stuck between:

  • continuing without understanding certain words, or
  • constantly interrupting the reading experience.

How do experienced readers deal with this?

Do you:

  • ignore some words and infer from context?
  • mark them and check later?
  • use a Kindle/e-reader for instant definitions?
  • keep a vocabulary notebook?
  • or is there a better system altogether?

Would genuinely appreciate practical advice, especially from people who started reading regularly as beginners.

Saw Ghost-Eye by Amitav Ghosh at the bookstore today and now I can’t stop thinking about picking it up. The cover has such a quiet but intriguing vibe to it 👀

I usually enjoy Amitav Ghosh’s writing, but I haven’t heard many people talk about this one yet.
Has anyone here read it? Worth buying? Would love some honest opinions before I add another book to my already out-of-control TBR 😭📚
