Worn Out Slots for Window Felts
Anybody have any suggestions on how secure the tailgate window felts when the slots that the clips attach too are worn/loose. I’ve been fighting with changing these for a couple of weeks and can’t get them to stay seated when raising the window. Tried buying a couple different brands to see if that would help (precision, lmc, Fairchild) but no luck.
Stapling them maybe? Have to see if a stapler is going to fit and will pierce but it’s the metal’s pretty thin
88 k5 smog pump
Hello! Looking for a little insight. Ive had my blazer for less than a year and have been on a fun tinkering journey. But there’s an awful lot I don’t know.
The small belt that powers my smog pump and ties into the fan wore out and broke yesterday. I drove home after removing it with no problems or concerns. I picked up a replacement and got it on there but there was an awful noise when I started. Worse than a loose belt squeal. I didn’t have anyone else’s eyes to look at what was happening and didn’t want it to run that way any longer than necessary. I’m thinking the smog pump might be seized up. My question is, long term, what could go wrong if I don’t get a belt back on there and have a functional smog pump? Again it’s an 88 k5. Thanks!
I want to Chrome chevy swap the grill to my Cracked, Black GMC grill. Need help finding a link to the product. Yes i want the chevy bow tie on a GMC it looks better.
The one on the left is mine and I want to swap to the one on the right.. i’ll even keep the chevy badge because I originally wanted a blazer but got a nice deal. Help finding this exact grill would be appreciated very much. Thank you!
Could someone please tell me if this is a Dana 44 or a 10 bolt?
Intermittent EST / Code 42 — 1989 K5 Blazer 5.7L TBI, 700R4
Been chasing an intermittent Code 42 for a few months now and running out of ideas.
What's been replaced:
Spark plug wires ((ACDelco)
- Coil (GM Genuine)
- ICM (GM Genuine)
- Distributor assembly (GM Genuine)
- Both coil connectors (black and grey)
- 2-pin and 4-pin ICM connectors
Other relevant work:
- ECM/ICM signal wires (EST, Bypass, Reference, Ground) rerouted away from plug wires
- EGR and EVAP deleted
- Long tube headers, custom exhaust, 4.10 gears, 2" lift
The fault is completely random — no conditions I can identify to reproduce it. The Drivability shop manual for intermittent Code 42 basically just says route plug wires away from ICM wires and check for broken wires, which I've already done.
After reading this I'm thinking the tan/blk Bypass or the wht EST must be must be opening or shorting to ground while running. https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/87-91-chevy-tbi-issues-code-42.29926/post-584657
Any ideas appreciated.
