So what is your personal goal for Classic.

And I don't mean a: I hope for this to be added.

I mean what is your thriving goal, what do you want to accomplish in this version of the game?

Personally I only ever had a ranger up to 90, nothing else going past 40. I want to make an I/L main with a CB secondary for when I force my friend to play. My goal is to show them the world i grew up with and possibly get us both to 100.

Hes never played Maplestory and this will be their first time going into it. He never joined because there was no controller support. Well its here now baby~

Concerned about the PQ changes in MapleStory Classic

Is anyone else concerned about the direction they’re taking PQs in the Classic beta? (Basically just the low exp rates)

For me, PQs were one of the best parts of old MapleStory. KPQ LPQ, even monster carnival lol, etc. gave you a reason to actually meet people, build parties, and play together instead of just grinding mobs for hours.

My ideal version of Classic would have PQs as one of the main ways to progress. I want to log in, run my PQs, work through those progression lines, and then grind in between for quests, gear, drops, or just because I feel like it.

I’m totally fine with grinding being part of MapleStory. It should be. I just really don’t want Classic to turn into a game where grinding is the main progression path and PQs are basically side content.

The social/party aspect of PQs was a huge part of what made old MapleStory special. I really hope they lean into that. Anyone know if they are hearing the feedback on this one? Also any thoughts?

It genuinely blows my mind

Like, stop and think about that for a second. There's a whole active subreddit here, buzzing, posting, theorizing — for a game that (as of right now) doesn't even have a release date. We're all just sitting here refreshing, itching for any scrap of news, running on pure nostalgia and hope.

And honestly? The version of Maple that lived in the back of our heads for fifteen years — the one with the endless grind , Sleepywood at 2am on a school night , merching all day at the FM— might actually come back.

I don't even need it to be perfect. I just need to hear that Hene jingle one more time and I'll be a puddle.

What's actually pulling you back for this one — a specific memory, or just wanting that feeling again?

What a time to be alive.

Why are PQs seemingly so hard for the team to balance?

As many players have communicated, currently it would seem the MSCW devs are unsure what to do in regards to PQ balance. I am genuinely curious how this can be as it would seem the answer is fairly obvious?

I don't think it would actually be that difficult to balance, at least conceptually. There are obviously a lot of variables once you get into the exact numbers, but the basic framework seems pretty straightforward.

First, the devs have to decide what they actually want the PQ's primary purpose to be. Is it primarily an EXP alternative? A way to make money? A source of equipment? Or is it supposed to be a healthy mix of all three?

From there, compare the PQ to the only alternative: a player spending the same amount of time solo grinding mobs appropriate for that level.

If a 15–20 minute PQ gives you significantly less EXP than grinding, essentially no mesos (or a net loss after pot cost), and a small chance at an equip you're going to replace in 10 levels anyway, then there's a pretty obvious problem that I don't really understand made it past the 'ideas' stage. The PQ doesn't have to be strictly optimal compared to grinding, but it should at least provide a reasonable return for the time you're investing.

And you don't even necessarily need to make it better in every category. You could make it slightly worse for EXP but give it better equipment drops, or sacrifice some EXP for more mesos, or whatever combination the devs think fits the role they want PQs to have.

Am I crazy? What do other people think is this something that is plainly obvious and the devs are sleeping at the wheel or what?

Wondering how much bots effect the economy?

I've been going back and forth about whether or not to play normally, or to make an iron man account. It seems like the consensus on here is that there are going to be a bunch of bots. I've never played modern maple, and I've always done iron man accounts on private servers since the drop rates make it easier. Essentially, I have no clue how big of an impact bots have on the Maple economy. If they have a major impact I'd rather just go iron man because the game experience will feel cheapened if there are too many rare items flooding the economy and I feel like I'm just funding gold farmers anytime I buy an item off of a player.

We have to make Nexon enable drops visibility

This is a must and a crucial part of the game experience!!! We gotta bring it to their attention.

I really hope they'd listen to the feedbacks, as I know many wrote about it

Do you believe in dummy scrolling?

I was recently looking back at scrolling and I decided to make a video on it! There are a lot of mechanics that I think make scrolling interesting, but one that pops up a lot is dummy scrolling. I go through dummy scrolling in this video and the reasons why it may or may not work, but I’m curious to know if you guys believe in dummy scrolling? Hope this kills some of the boredom while waiting for release!

How Useful Are WDEF and Guard for Survivability?

Hi, I was curious about how WDEF works in this game. I hope it improves survivability by a decent margin, but I’ve seen some comments saying that WDEF is basically useless.

It would be a shame to have stats that serve little to no purpose. I’ve always disliked that in games. I understand that WDEF might not be very valuable for market trading, but I like the idea of having the option to invest in it yourself. If spending some money to increase weapon defense noticeably improves your survivability in the long run, it could also reduce the amount of money you spend on potions and other consumables. That would make it feel like an actual investment and give players more options for adapting their builds and playstyles.

So, how useful is WDEF in practice, and how exactly does it affect survivability?

Also, how does shield guard work?

Holy Symbol alternatives

Support classes in games are usually more fragile, but with powerful range type skills. Mercy (Overwatch) has great mobility and resurrection. Sage (Valorant) slows and has a wall. Soraka (League) has an aoe heal and silence. Browsing supports from other games has given me a few ideas, and I'm noticing some similarities between Priest's Doom and (from Deadlock) Sinclair's enemy transformation skill. As you can guess I'm quite bored so here you go:

HS - When active, could:

-Makes attacks lifesteal, may allow for shining ray to become more sustainable

-Resurrects a teammate, does not lower their exp

-Spawns a healing sanctuary

-'Soul bonds' to nearby party members, providing healing over time and splitting damage taken

-Provides a heal overtime, growing stronger when Priest is actively attacking

-Fuck it, Priest becomes invulnerable and moves faster through the temporary ability to fly. Matches with the holy angel type skills

-Allows Priest to mitigate damage, maybe absorb it as mana/hp. Magic guard becomes more necessary & Priest route may require more mana than fellow mages

-Provides temporary extra mana for allies, since DrK Hyper Body was nerfed to only give extra hp

-Increases amount of healing received by HP/MP pots and increase dex/w.att etc. pots duration

Its getting late so enjoy the read and goodnight :)

What actions has Nexon currently taken to prevent mass botting on release?

Hi,

You know it, I know it, this game on release is going to be filled with bots. Has Nexon talked about this? Will there be Lie Detectors on release?

Steam link/controller gameplay

In case if anyone was wondering, I tested playing Maplestory beta 2 on my galaxy tab 11 via steam link. My Xbox controller was hooked to my PC via usb cable. Overall functionality was pretty seamless. Very minor input lag but that may be from my own network connection. Default control schemes worked well and didn’t need any further control mapping for me at least. Warrior was the only class I tested. Mapping your skills and macros on PC then switching to handheld seems like the best approach for setting up. Didn’t get a chance to test third job. The reason I tested this was because I wanted to play while laying in bed after work. If you do not want to go out of your way to purchase a handheld gaming device, this is a great alternative as it only requires a tablet and controller.

Does Classic World run on Snapdragon processors / Windows ARMS?

Hey all, I'm sorry if this type of post is annoying. I just can’t find any discussion of those who were invited to the beta and their experience running the game (if it runs at all) on a Windows Snapdragon laptop. I’m asking because I recently got one of these computers for my wife, assuming she could play MS Classic, and now when second-checking for peer confirmation, I haven’t seen anybody talking about this. For those who have any knowledge on this, am I cooked? Should I try to return the laptop, or is this adequate for MS Classic? If the specs matter, it has 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD on Windows 11. Thank you in advance for any feedback or insight :)

Exp Rates?

Hey folks, I wasnt able to find the answer looking through this sub so I'll just ask it here.

Is it confirmed that they are doing the old 1x exp rate for classic world? If not, what is the new xp rate?

Thanks!

Idea for White Knight

I dont plan on playing WK, but I was wondering that it felt a bit underwhelming in COT2. And buffing it I think goes past the idea of just increasing damage (e.g. Make charges 20%dmg -> 30%dmg).

I was wondering. Would it be too far fetched to make every elemental charge 20 to max instead of 30 (60 points total to max the three elements instead of 90), and the extra 30 points saved can be used in an entirely new skill for the class. Maybe like a Single Target charged blow variant. I know WK gets blast in 4th job, but Im just trying to think what could be the alternative to buffing WK to feel good and fun in 3rd job compared to everything else. What do you guys think? Would it stray too far off the classic feel?

Edit: They already get Advanced Charged blow in 4th job, why not give them Blast in 3rd and make a new "Advanced Blast" for 4th

🖼️ COT2 Screenshot Dump

Screenshot dump of COT2 because what else do we have to look at for now x_x

Most of these are "auto-screenshots" from Classic Maple's new feature, mostly when you level up.
