Alternatives prior to MSclassic release
Hi All! I am dying to play MSclassic, however, I am really fed up with the fact that no timeline is provided for a potential release date. What are great alternatives to play to quench my thirst for nostalgia?

Of course we have to worry about the game being released first but once it does, new content will eventually be added; personally, I’d like to see the game go in a different direction to GMS and go it’s own way.
I reckon a great direction to go would be to have new jobs exclusive to Classic World. And to keep the Classic theme these jobs could just be additional branches to the existing Explorers. They would also just use the existing weapon types as well.
(Release Pirates first though)
Examples could include:
Shield-Based Warrior
Swordsman -> Sentinel -> Guardian -> Bastion
Uses a shield as its weapon. High survivability, specialises in party defences and knock-backs/anti-knock-back.
Gun-Based Thief
Rogue -> Scout -> Agent -> Strider
Uses guns and bullets as its weapon. Would require new gun variants that scale with DEX and LUK to distinguish them from pirate guns without having to program a brand new weapon type.
Specialises in traps and map control to avoid overlap with Bandits, Assassins, and Corsair.
Sword-Based Pirate (or potentially Axe as well?)
Pirate -> Duelist -> Raider -> Dreadnought
Haven’t really given this one as much thought but it fits thematically (scimitars etc). Use one-handed swords that require DEX as the main stat so that this, along with a unique design differentiates itself enough from Warriors.
Suppose I have 2 computers to play maplestory on, what 2 classes would require the least amount of attention span? 2 archers? Double melee doing the same input? Bonus points for playing one set up with one hand and one set up with the other
So I've been playing Exodus a bit while waiting for classic to release. I was gonna play either F/P mage or Xbowman. I always played Cleric back in my childhood, and wanted to play F/P and Xbowman but never did, so I figured to go with that upon release
Anyways, had a few too many gummies and said screw it and made a sin on Exodus, just to try. And I think I just fell in love. Never played it as a kid because it was always the most popular, and equips and stars were sooo expensive. But now I think this might be the class for me. I know they tweaked skills on Exodus so that might be skewing my view, so was maybe wondering if anyone played any of those classes could weigh in and help me make a decision?
That said about the skill changes, I know they tweaked a lot of skills in official classic too. I'm just not as read-up on them. Any insight is greatly appreciated, and I can't wait for release regardless! See y'all there :))
Chinese Maplestory closed beta went live a few hours ago and…wow. Even with all of Global’s skill changes and new maps, I honestly feel Global definitely feels wayyy more like Maplestory back in the early 2000s.
The attached screenshot only shows a bit of the Cash Shop, but basically
* everything red is now purple for some reason. Maybe something due to depicting blood? Stuff like potions and even the hue behind the Dark Lord. There’s actually some funny Chinese memes of this.
* membership which gives unlimited on-spot revives, 1.3x exp, summonable store and storage
* 2x exp coupons (in addition to membership)
* battlepass (yup also different from membership)
* one time use death exp insurance coupons (so I guess you can eventually solo any boss if you buy enough with the membership)
* item gachapon
* you do way more and take much less damage. I’ve heard beginners can do 100+?
There’s probably more differences but that’s what I’ve heard.
Im curious what people are itching to play and and why.
I remember having a blast playing maple as a kid and it was a big part of my childhood. The grinding also wasn't a big deal because time to me, as a kid, felt differently. When I heard classic is coming again, I got really excited again for the nostalgia. But, I'm no longer a 12 year old kid during the summer with hours of time to kill. Now I'm 33, full time job, and going to be a new first time dad in a month. I'm worried I won't have as much fun or I'll lose interest because of the major time investment to level up once you get higher (I think I ended up getting 10% exp/hr late game). Anyone else having the same thoughts?

Hey everyone,
We have started working on a new BasilMarket-style website for the MapleStory Classic community:
Right now, the main features being worked on are account login, buy/sell listings, and auctions. The goal is to keep the classic marketplace feeling people remember, but give it a cleaner and more modern layout.
The current item and monster data is based on old MapleStory data for now, not the new MapleStory Classic data yet. That will be updated soon once better Classic data becomes available.
We are also planning Discord integration later on, including scammer reporting through the #scammers channel and eventually buyer/seller ratings. The goal is to make trading easier, safer, and more community-driven.
You can find the Discord link at the bottom of the website if you want to join, follow updates, or give feedback.
For me I think its Frozen Tuna
I have to admit something I'm not proud of and I was wondering if anyone else do similar.
Have you ever found a bot with monster magnet farming with evidently full inventory/pickup not working and took a little advantage of it?
I have to admit I did. Ofc each time I've spotted any bot or sometimes evidently person cuz I manage to get a reply to some harsh words sent in their address, I've reported and defame them. Although once or twice due to being poor I also spam/hold Z to not let this small fortune on the ground to waste.
I know it wasn't right and each time I've wondered if I'll also get banned (wasn't sure if I'm breaking ToS since I'm not using any illegal programs, as a teenager back then I didn't rly read it before accepting but please don't tell Nexon). Just to clarify I only gathered like few thousands meso + w/e items drops, it was on low lvl areas like pig beach or Perion's outskirts with axe stumps/wild boars.
Are you also guilty?
For me I personally would like for them to pretty much follow the same route story wise up until Cygnus was implemented. Then from there they should tie in the alternate timeline stuff with the Black Mage not creating the rift/big bang.
What do you guys think? Should they ever reach that point to begin with? I know they have some sort of plan on doing something different with how the story plays out based on the video they had with Manji.
I even modded my 3ds to have it sleepywood themed :)
Where are the weekend warrior parents that are planning to play Maplestory Classic? Moms and Dads? I’m looking for a group to play with, looking forward to nostalgic vibes.
Wouldnt that be a lovely way for nexon to handle a such a project?
Ive been looking for something to scratch that itch
Tried diff games, maple servers like royals, artale but nothing hit
Only need something to hold me down a few months
Found a maple worlds server called Old School Maple. Invited a few friends to play (3 guys) and fast forward a week… theres 50 of us. I think the people are yearning for maple classic old school experience and a social place to chill. Highly rec the server.
Tbh idc much about rushing to end game i want to enjoy the journey with people near me. Just going to training spots and adding people made it so i had a pool of ppl to draw into kpq and other spots.
See you guys in OSM or in classic once that drops, we’ve also got a thicc community going for both. Come join the brotherhood of dumplings 🫃🏻
Also curious what games you guys are playing atm?
