Sex with flex disc

Purchased both the disposable and reusable flex disc because I started breakthrough bleeding once again and my partner was spending a few days with me.

I mentioned the disc to my partner and he was very interested in it so we tried 2 positions and he said he felt nothing and neither did I , which was great I did check to make sure it was still sitting correctly and it was so that was perfect.

So the next day , I put it in while I was in the shower and then of course one thing led to another. He didn’t know I had it in but I certainly could not feel it and I don’t think he could other. I kind of now feel a lot better about sex and not on edge like I use to be because my periods are so unpredictable and even though he’s fine having sex on my period I’m not so I feel like this is what will make me feel comfortable going forward.

Haven’t tried on my actual period yet but I’m kind of nervous because some people said it shifts and then will leak all the blood out

Sex with a menstrual disc is NOT risk free-I got INJURED

I got significantly injured having sex with a menstrual disc in. I have seen a lot of ads recently from "medical professionals" offering up discs as a "mess free" solution for period sex.
I can't bring myself to comment on social media, but I have to share this cautionary tale of terror.
Maybe if you are just having run of the mill vanilla sex for 15 minutes you would be fine, but that ain't me. My boyfriend and I were sleeping together about a year ago and "him" and the disc pinched me. It hurt when it happened, but that was nothing compared to the next few days. My period stopped, but the bleeding did not. I had sharp internal pain and bleeding (not period blood-if you know, you know) for three days before it resulted in an emergency visit to a gynecologist on a Saturday morning. She confirmed what I suspected, that the disc and "him" had pinched my inner wall and torn the membrane. Guys, this hurt. I don't have great insurance, so it wasn't a decision that I made lightly to go to the doctor.

  1. Yes. My disc was properly inserted, I had been a disc user for quite sometime when this happened, this was just my first (and last) time having sex with a disc in. I still use discs, but I will absolutely not wear one when having sex.
  2. It was either the soft disc or the flex disposable discs. I don't remember which, but I have seen ads for the flex disc as a solution and these are comparable in composition, so take that for what it is.
  3. I was told I needed to wait for it to heal for about a week and then use a water based lubricant for a few weeks afterwards.
  4. I'm not telling anyone what to do, but I feel very strongly that these products that are marketed as "mess free" should come with a risk disclaimer.

Omygosh I am so impressed so far!

I used a cup for years and loved it, but then got the copper coil in January and had to stop (apparently you can kind of suck out the coil with the cup when you remove it so it’s advised not to use it). Now it’s been a few months, I decided to try a disc.

I got the Hello Disc because it’s affordable and I like the idea of the ring pull and different options with that. Also the reviews are really good.

I tried it for the first time last night: day two of my period (my heaviest day) but it’s lighter at night and I’ll be lying down so I figured it’s a good time to try it out. It took a couple of attempts to get it in, but that’s mainly because I was overthinking it. I went for the tuck method with the ring pull as I didn’t want anything hanging into my vag.

The next morning, there was nothing in my pants, and I mean nothing. I wouldn’t have known I was on my period. The cup’s good, but it’s not that good. I’d often have some very light spotting.

It autodumped when I took my morning dump, then I took it out completely (it was in a little too securely but I got it out ok), rinsed it and popped it back in with no fuss whatsoever.

Emboldened by my success, I decided to try it out today as well. Day three is still pretty heavy and I work in an office, so if there was a critical fail, I’d have to go home and change, which would not be fun to explain to my boss, but I decided to trust it.

It has not let me down. My underwear is completely clean. There is not even a speck of blood.

We’ll see how things go when I take it out this evening without the autodump dump, but so far I am very impressed.

am i inserting wrong or is it something else

hi all, i recently decided to try out a disc! i bought the Saalt in size small, but whenever i try to insert it, i physically cannot get it into my vagina any more than a single centimeter. i’ve seen people have problems with it not sitting properly in regards to the cervix, but i can’t get the disk to go in hardly at all. i’ve tried several times, in a relaxed state, multiple different positions, but still nothing. i have no problems whatsoever with tampons, and i can fit (only one) finger up to locate my cervix, which leads me to believe this isn’t vaginismus (i also have never experienced the spasms or involuntary tightening, it just seems my vagina isn’t quite big enough…. lol)

if anyone has any suggestions or ideas that would be very much appreciated!!

update:
I finally found what works for me!! the deep squat, like tippy toes while squatting lol, worked best. and the drawer analogy someone mentioned helped so much! the angle really is a lot more horizontal than you’d think, but now i know. thanks everyone for their suggestions!

Scared of suction and getting stuck

Hi! I really want to try a disc, particularly for an upcoming anniversary trip during which I’m most likely going to be on my period. I am scareddddddd of suction and something getting stuck. I had a baby 3 years ago and the cervical checks during labor were numerous and brutal and I have some trauma around that. I felt like whole arms were up me so I’m pretty sure I have a quite high cervix. I’m 34 and would like to use it during sex. Has to be easy to remove so I don’t panic.

What would you suggest?

Day 2 of 7: Student volunteer trying to raise ₹1,000 for Menstrual Hygiene (She Can Foundation)

She Can

Hi everyone,

I am a student currently volunteering for a short 7-day internship campaign with the She Can Foundation (shecanfoundation.org). We work toward women's empowerment, education, and distributing menstrual hygiene kits to girls.

My personal volunteer goal is to raise a small pool of minimum ₹1,000 by the end of the week. Because I am highly uncomfortable asking my own friends and relatives for money, I am reaching out to this supportive online community.

I have attached the foundation's official government registration certificate to this post so you know this is 100% legitimate.

If 10 kind people could spare just ₹100 each (or even ₹50—the price of a cup of tea), it would immensely help me cross the finish line for my internship requirements.

You can donate directly through their secure official NGO page:

👉 shecanfoundation.org

📌 Important for my tracking: Please type "Abhilasa Kulkarni" in the referral column during the payment checkout process so the NGO logs my volunteer credits correctly.

If you do donate, please DM me and share screenshot so I can keep track of my progress. Thank you so much for your time, empathy, and kindness! 🌷💛

Recommendations for Newbies?

I'm 21, and for the last 10 years I've only used a pad. I'm super excited to switch to a disc, except I have no idea where to start! My priorities would be no leakage, easy to take out (because I panic easily), and just overall good quality. I also have never been sexually active and I'm not sure if that's relevant. I plan on getting an IUD in the near future though.

I live in India, so I prefer something that ships here but I could ask a friend to bring it from the US, too. I'd appreciate any recommendations thanks xD

newbie help

hey all, i’m 23, had a period since i was 9, but only ever used pads (therefore, pads are the only thing i’ve ever used). i’m not super adventurous when it comes to venturing out from what works, and I’ve never even used a tampon, never had an IUD - nothing. I currently just tried my first flex disc, I think I’ve had it in for like maybe 20 minutes at this point.

Because I’ve never put anything up me, especially when on a period (except perhaps my boyfriend) I’m really not sure what I’m supposed to expect. I can feel a slight pressure on what I’m assuming is my cervix, so there’s some mild uncomfortability but nothing that’s like crazy or painful. I’ve only found people either saying that they don’t feel a thing or they do and flex doesn’t work for them.

I’m trying to judge whether or not I put it in right with no reference. I was hoping if maybe some more experience gals on here could see what I’ve said, and tell me if this is normal to feel with a flex disc.

Disc Frustrations

I can't figure it out. I started with the disposable flex disc and it was way too large it literally stuck out of my vagina. Yes I inserted it right. I tried answering it multiple different ways, it just wouldn't stay tucked. I then sized down dramatically to the saalt soft disc size small. It seemed to maybe work but it also didn't really stay tucked. It at least didn't stick out, but it would sit only a nails worth deep. Took it out to see just how far everything is, I can reach my pubic bone with only one knuckle, and my cervix is only two knuckles deep. Barely more than half my pointer finger. And I don't have long fingers. My cervix also never gets more shallow or deep, its always that distance. And I'm 100% sure it is my cervix. Is my vaginal canal just too short for a disc??? Why is it so short?????

Discs for high cervix?

Many years ago, I tried using menstrual cups but could not get them to work as I have a very high cervix. I’ve been using reusable pads which have worked well, but I hate traveling with them and they aren’t the most comfortable. I came across menstrual discs and wondering if these could potentially work for me with my high cervix? If so, what brands do you recommend? Need to be reusable. I’m in the US.

Thanks!!

Need Support: Disc size

Hi everyone! I am a long time re-usable menstrual product user. I started with cups because they seemed a little more user-friendly but had to switch to discs in 2023 because I got an IUD.

I first started with the Hello Disc, but swapped to the Diva Disc when it first was released because I really liked the pull tab and leakproof shield features.

Every time I start my period, there’s a few days where my body has to get used to the actual feeling of the disc. It feels like it’s either putting pressure on my colon (feels like the urge to go but also constipated?) or on my urethra (similar symptoms to a UTI? Just a nagging pressure/pain, struggle to pee?). I think it typically goes away after a few days when my body gets used to it, but then it’ll start all over again at the next period. A piece of context that may be important: I have OCD, and one particular OCD cycle is surrounded by the fear of getting or having a UTI, so it gets amplified when my disc happens to be putting pressure on my urethra.

Is this because my disc is too big? Diva Disc is one size and seems a lot smaller than other discs, or at least the Hello Disc? Are there other recommendations you guys could offer on discs that are smaller?

how do flex reusables compare to disposables?

hi all! so I'm new to discs and for the last couple cycles I've been trying out flex disposables. thing is I've had a bit of leaking and more cramping with it in despite triple-checking my placement, so I'm thinking it might be too big.

I was wondering if anyone's tried the flex reusable? if so, how do y'all think it stacks up? I love the flex disposables and was just wondering if the flex reusables feel softer or if maybe I should look for a different brand.

anyway, thanks for the help! and good luck to everyone on their period 🫠

How are yall boiling your disks

If I place it upside down it floats with an air pocket so in my head, the part with the air pocket isn't getting disinfected. If I place it up it sinks and I'm worried it'll melt or something from directly touching the pot, if I put a little water in the middle it'll float but then the edges are outside, therefore in my head it's not getting disinfected bc it's not touching the boiling water 😭

I feel like I'm crazy by making this stuff up in my head so I want to know how ya'll are boiling your disks so I can feel better

Edit: thank you for all your answers, very helpful

Seeking Feedback: Free Menstrual & Ovulation Tracker in AllNest App

Hi everyone,

I recently published my Android app called AllNest, and one of its modules focuses on menstrual health tracking. Currently, it includes:

Period tracking – log your cycle dates

Ovulation tracking – see expected fertile days and ovulation dates

I want to make AllNest the best free app for menstrual and overall reproductive health, but I’m not fully sure what features users value most.

I’d love your suggestions on what would make this app genuinely helpful for daily tracking and health insights. Some ideas I’ve considered:

Symptom tracking (mood, cramps, flow, sleep)

Reminders for period, ovulation, and medications

Health insights or cycle predictions based on your data

Integrations with fitness or health apps

Nutrition or wellness tips aligned with your cycle

Since the app is completely free, my goal is to give the community the best experience without ads or paywalls.

If you use menstrual tracking apps, what features do you wish were available?

Thanks so much for your feedback!

My fiancé is wondering whether or not to switch.

She 23F normally uses tampons during the day and pads or the reusable underwear at night. She is wondering the pros and cons of switch and if it’s something she should try. Any and all advice would be great please.

u/ProduceAlternative30 — 10 days ago

slight leakage even though it feels like it’s in right! any advice?

i’ve been using soft disk for a few days and i really like them! i have some slight leakage though :( i’ve been adding a light tampon to help soak up any leakage until i get it all properly worked out.

i am tucking it behind the “bone” or whatever it is, so i’m just not sure what i‘m doing wrong! the tampon is able to slide all the way in as well, so i can only assume i tuck it far enough back. i know with tampons, i have an issue where it often soaks just one side, so it could just be the shape of my vaginal canal.

i really would love to switch over because it has helped my cramps a lot!! i just can’t seem to figure out what i’m doing wrong.

GaiaFLOW discs on Amazon?

Anyone used these disposable discs on Amazon??

I started using disposable discs about 6 months ago and have loved them! I’ve tried flex and softdisc and they’ve worked well for me. They’re slightly too large for me though I think and I saw this alternative on Amazon but can’t find anything about it!!

I have been trying them today for the first time and I think they might be slightly smaller than flex and softdisc. They feel more comfortable to me and I haven’t had any leakage at all, which I usually have a little bit with flex and softdisc. The actual plastic-y material that catches the blood also seems to be softer?

Just wanted to see if anyone else has tried them!

Note: I know there’s smaller reusable discs, I haven’t gotten the courage to try reusable discs yet due to being scared about dealing with a mess 🥲

I am so done LIKE DONE DONE

After 5 years using the cup I decided to switch.First day with the disc and I had leaks. I don't even have a heavy flow.

WHAT ON GODS HEAVEN AM I DOING WRONG??????

I took the nice quiz for getting my Goldilocks disc ,no I can't reach my cervix ever. I have room for a whole skyscraper up there y'all I am not kidding so I went with lumma H

I put the disc in and it got suctioned by my cavity in a magical way and then it almost did the job alone? just tried to push it further till the bottom and then left it alone for 5 hours

I woke up to stains

._.

.-.

What a disappointment. At this rate I am considering taking pills to make my period go away I AM SO DONE PLEASE ALL I WANT IS TO NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT PADS AT ALL OR PERIODS AS A WHOLE!

What are y'all doing so you do not leak?
