Starting a new adventure!
My English was pretty bad when I was a kid, but now I can totally follow and understand the whole story.

Hey, my Miyoo Mini+ came with a faulty X button.
Ive tried to take it apart and fix the button by carefully sanding the rough edges but it didnt help. The button shape is too distorted to not get stuck on press.
Ive tried to contact support but they dont seem to want to help. Ive tried looking for replacement buttons on alibaba but cant find any. There are some on etsy but ideally id not spend on artisanal buttons, i just want a standard button that works.
Any ideas? Anyone with spare buttons they can part with? Thanks!
I added some NDS game's to my mym+ and they do not show up in the game list. To launch them I have to go through AdvanceMENU in NDS. They are in Zip and also .nds files. Any help on getting them in the list would be Appreciated.
Doest Retroarch or OnionOS allows us to separately update RA and its cores without updating the whole OS? I think that the Beta of Onion has a newer RA, but I don't wanna install a beta version first.
As per title. Just an hour and 30 minutes-ish of gaming and it's already at like 30%. And I'm playing simple games like Pokemon on GB, Harvest Moon on Snes & GBA. Has anyone gotten one of those cheap battery meant for DIY projects with the correct jst connector and used them?
Hi everyone!
I'm new to this community. I’ve been working on some custom overlays for 640x480 handhelds because I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for, so I decided to make my own.
I’m a bit nervous posting this since I know there’s a lot of expertise in this sub, but I’d really appreciate any feedback or suggestions you might have. I’ve personally tested these on my R36S, but since I don't have other devices, if anyone with other 640x480 handhelds could test them out and let me know how they look, I’d be really grateful.
I've also included some custom shader presets I worked on. For the systems where I didn't create a custom one, I’ve included suggestions on which standard RetroArch presets pair well with them. You can check out the demo images of how they look on my GitHub fork here: https://github.com/montyfrog/perfect_overlays_plus (The name is perfect_overlays_plus, but it’s not actually that perfect 😅)
I’m still learning, so any tips on how I can improve these would be awesome. Thanks for your time and for checking this out!
Edit: Forgot to mention that this also includes overlays packs for LYNX, WonderSwan, WSC, GG(edit), NGP(edit), and Pico-8. Also, I’ve kept the existing overlays from the original creators in the repo to have everything in one place—full credit to them for their great work!
Been busy this past months but took some time the last couple of weeks to fix a couple of annoying things in the miyoopod app. If you have version 0.0.6 already you can enable wifi and open the app, there should be an update popup. It is recommended that you rescan your library after the update and restart the app. https://miyoopod.fragoso.dev
I really love this retro machine
I finally bought one for myself after lurking in this sub for a while. Not gonna lie, I was kinda worried about this little (onion) boy being overhyped by the community, and I can finally say...it is not. This device is awesome.
I wanted to share a few thoughts after a couple of days' usage, also in the hope that someone on the fence and looking for the same kind of feedback I was looking for, can find this easily.
That's it, sorry for the wall of text. I hope you're having a fun time with your devices.
Just want to mention DevilutionX multiplayer is playable on the Miyoo Mini Plus (and i guess the Mini Flip) via both local LAN and the internet.
I think it's pretty cool to setup a Hotspot with my phone and I can play Diablo with a friend.
This is the awesome project I'm not part of. So credits to them:

Currently, there isn't an official build available with network support enabled, but it works perfectly if you compile/run a build with the NONET = OFF flag enabled.
You can connect directly via local IP addresses, or use ZeroTier for playing over the internet.
Zerotier fortunately has a in game lobby Browser.
For direct connection via IP edit your diablo.ini file and add the host's IP address to the 'Previous Host' field in the network section.
File Location: /Saves/CurrentProfile/config/DevilutionX
Here my Build if you want to try it. I was only capable of building Version 1.5.1.

I opened a ticket. Maybe there will be a dedicated Miyoo Multiplayer Build in the future.
As a beginner to porting and game technologies (but not programming) I've been getting into porting for my Miyoo Mini+ running OnionOS recently. After getting stuck on a few more advanced projects I decided to go back to basics and I've been trying to learn properly using a game running on a modified Quake engine. This project is Nazi Zombies: Portable, an open source clone of the CoD Nazi Zombie mode originally written for the PSP.
The game featured in the video, which is a game I'd really want on my Miyoo but I was reluctant to try as the Quake engine it used would be hard to ge to work on the Miyoo. But there was an experimental port of it made for graphing calculators that upon closer inspection shared many similarities with how it could be implemented for the Miyoo Mini+. Then I also noted that its engine wasn't even that far off vanilla Quake which led me to the hypothesis that I could combine the calculator port with a version of Quake targeting hardware similar to the Miyoo to get it to work, and it did!
It still has major graphical issues, there's no sound, and I haven't nailed the controls yet, but it is playable already at 60fps! And now that I have the basics down I can also probably work on re-integrating features missing in the calculator port for something that plays at least as well as on the 3DS and PSP. This project has been a masterclass for me in C/C++ programming as well as porting, and I hope to apply what I've learned to my other projects.
These are some of the games I've scouted that could be possible to port, and that I'm personally interested in looking into. The common thread among them is that controls would need heavy adaptation to be fun on the Miyoo.
I am by no means a porting magician, my work is slow and crude, but I really want to learn. Thus far I've been learning from looking at other projects, and much of the work I do is to simply try to rip that out and try to get it to work. If someone more experienced wants to point me in the direction of any resources (could really be anything) or having a chat that'd be much appreciated.
I haven't been part of the Miyoo community for very long, but I feel energised and passionate about contributing to it. From what I can tell the Miyoo Minis still have a strong community surrounding them, but many of the experienced devs seem to have moved onto other projects. The official port directory hasn't been updated in a while, and I'm not sure if that's because no one is submitting ports anymore or if it's not actively maintained. Though I do know there has been some interesting projects that are still ongoing. Here some projects I've found not on the official repo (all of them are not ports though):
The Miyoo is objectively a pretty outdated piece of hardware, but that's what makes it so fun to develop for. And I still believe it holds a lot of potential for new ports. That's why I've been toying with the idea of creating a new port oriented website for the Miyoo Mini in the hopes of giving myself and other porters a new platform to encourage more awesome projects. Hit me up if anyone wants to help and contribute to it, or just tell me whether it could be a good idea or not.
While I've already got projects in the pipeline I'd be more than happy to take suggestions for other projects to look into. While I can't promise speedy delivery I could at least give my opinion on its feasibility!
I'm looking for a console that's easy to carry around, to school and things like that, because I have a Switch and it takes up my whole backpack. Should I choose the MM+ or the Mini Flip? I only want to play GBA and DS Pokémon games, and maybe some Mario games.
I’m trying to find someone who makes custom Miyoo Mini Plus shells. I haven’t had much luck on Etsy, and while I’ve seen people dye existing shells, I haven’t found anyone offering this as a service.
The orange buttons are easy enough to source, but getting an olive drab/army green shell is the hard part. If anyone here is willing to dye a shell for me—or knows someone who does custom shell work—I’d be happy to pay for the service.
So I have never played a Final Fantasy game. Ever.
I grew up in the 80s (I was the perfect age when the NES arrived (11 years old) and we played that, and then the SNES before moving to the PS1. However, in all of my years of gaming, I never played a Final Fantasy game (or rpg, for that matter). I bought FF VII for the ps1 simply for the box cover art, but never got into it. When i started, I had no idea what I was doing and quickly gave up (and probably went back to FIFA, GTA, Tomb Raider or Crash Bandicoot).
However, now that I have discovered emulation and my MM+ I want to dip my toe into the Final Fantasy series.
So where do I start? From the beginning and go chronologically? I know there is some confusion in numbering (from Japanese vs other versions? 3 is 6, or something?)
Or should I jump in elsewhere? Again, this is coming from someone who has NO idea about "HP" points (is that 'health' or 'hit' points?) and no idea about the 'combat' in these types of games...but I want to try! I have been doing some research into rgps, and know there are tactical, turn based, action rpgs, and I have no idea what any of them are, but figure its time to try.
Thoughts/Suggestions?
I recently ordered a Mini Flip, which just came in the mail and it's very lovely.
I already own a Mini which I plan on retiring as my main device, keeping it as a backup for when/if the Mini Flip breaks.
However, I've noticed that the Mini Flip is a LOT slower to boot.
When I boot my Mini, the boot sequence is something like
Miyoo Logo -> Onion OS -> Loading... -> main screen
But when I transfer the SD card over to the flip it instead does this:
Miyoo Logo -> SD Card Symbol -> Loading -> Onion OS -> Loading -> main screen
I've also noticed a number of other weird glitches and hiccups, like the screen showing random static at times, and a weird glitchy effect on the screen whenever I turn the volume up and down.
I'm not sure if it's to do with the fact that I just straight transferred the SD card from the old Mini to the Mini Flip or if something else is at play.
The Mini Flip also reset the theme I chose after transferring the first time, not sure what that's about.
Any advice?
First time playing Link's Awakening!
I just got my first retro gaming handheld in the MM+, and I only have a 32 GB card to work with right now. Is there any way I can adapt the Done Set 3 collection to fit it? I know Done Set 1 had a 32 GB collection, but I am still interested in filtering Done Set 3 if possible.
