New pile of ducklings!

So... Long story short... I'm fostering 5 muscovy ducklings 😂 I don't know how I always end up being a nanny of someone haha but I'm happy because they're the cutest thing ever 🥰 I don't have experience with muscovys, so any advice will be appreciated. There's one who seems a bit weaker but maybe it hatched the last one. We don't really know. I call that one Mini Pip

mean neighbor threatening to call HOA regarding muscovy ducks :(

there are about 5 muscovies at the lake in my neighborhood. emphasis on LAKE and this lady who lives ON THE LAKE is mad about them BEING IN THE LAKE because theyre near her property. anyway, i visit them regularly and throw seeds in the water, and there is one kind lady who gives them some seed as well in her backyard (her property). the ducks hardly ever leave the lake and when they do theyre basically only on her property or the other side where no one lives. basically, a chick got stuck in the mean lady’s pool and she got mad and threatened HOA and so now hanging w them is basically off limits or else she will call. she basically claims everyone hates us even though the muscovies have been there for ages. i am very upset about this. these ducks were my therapy, my happiness, and i dont want to be around them anymore because if she calls HOA they may be exterminated. there are other everglades, endemic species that hang around there and shes pissed off about them too. im most worried about the muscovies because they could be exterminated. i just dont understand what her problem is

Looks like ducklings are on the way

We didn't want ducklings this year. Oh well, looks like a change of plans.

Neighborhood ducks :)

My new neighborbood has 3 males muscovys who are very friendly and polite. I've named the white headed one with no head feathers "Quackalator" and he wags his tail whenever he knows he is getting peas.

I have seperated my mascovey drake from the rest of my flock. Now the 5 ladies have been without him for a few days. Happy and frolicking but today I notice one female trying to mount the other and biting her foot and wing. What is the best thing to do when they behave his way?

Dry face?

Im just curious if anyone else's muscovy occasionally get a somewhat dried out looking face like the picture?

Occasionally, my oldest female Pinky will look like she needs a medicube face mask!

She has full access to a pond with lots of running water so its not like she should necessarily be dehydrated.

The abandoned ducks in my yard are growing.

I posted about these ducks being found under my carport abandoned. Well, we’ve been raising them. And they’re growing…. But how much are they supposed to be eating?

They have a14ft run, with a small chicken coop, I use to put them up in at night (8-8:30pm) until morning. No food or water after dark . They come out between 7-10am .

They get let out, new food and water put down, pool filled, and rechecked every few hours since someone is always home.

They eat approximately 3-5 times a day. Kalmbachs duck & goose feed %18

I took away the organic duck crumbles, with high protein since I didn’t actually know the age..? Should I still give some high protein food mixed in. They’ve been on the Kalmbachs for about a week. Not mixed with anything. I offered mixed greens cut finely. Thawed frozen peas, and neither were a hit, they nibbled and tossed it aside. I tried putting it in the pool and moving it around. Not really interested.

What other greens and vegetables can I offer??

They do love store bought black slider fly larvae, crickets, mealworms, super worms , red belly minnows, and whatever bugs they find foraging on the ground.

How much is too much..? They always seem hungry.

The last picture in the blue tote was the first day that we found them.

I don’t want babies , how do I separate, &what age

I don’t want eggs or babies . I’m not looking to breed.

Just offer a safe place to live out there life .

What do I do when the time comes …… about the female to male ratio.

I think I have three males .

Could I just keep the males together in a trio and the two females together in a pair

With a divider in the cage , but still allow them access to see each other ??

I want to know ahead of time

will they remember me?? :((

ive been feeding, bonding w, and taking care of my university’s muscovy ducks at the local pond for the last nine months now. i basically go everyday and sit w them after classes (it helps me sm mentally. like i seriously cannot express how much theyve positively impacted my life). i am now on summer break and I am home 5 hours away, meaning i wont be able to see them. i love them all so much, and i just want to know if anyone has any insight into if they will remember me or feel sad that ive left (i dont want them to be sad). they all run up to me when they see me. i was gone before for a month for winter break, and they remembered me (and were very excited to see me). anyway, please let me know if they will remember me or if i will have to restart the bond (which im fine with doing, it would be a bit sad ofcourse)

Any way to guess the age of this Muscovy?

This (we assume male) Muscovy duck (lovingly dubbed 'Chicken') has been in our local park for as long as I can remember. He's like the weird uncle of the mix of duck families around.

My boyfriend even thinks it's the same one he used to feed 10+ years ago as a child. Would that even be possible?

I'd be sad to find out he's basically at the end of his life now..

Babies

We just got new babies. I'm new to Muscovy ducks. I raised chickens and other ducks just not these guys before. This is to share these cuties but any advice or fun facts about the differences of raising Muscovy ducks vs other ducks appreciated.

Ps. the 5 brown ducks are Khaki Campbell babies and this is a temporary brooder as they were a bit of an impulsive buy. We do have a coop and everything and will be expanding to give the ducks their own home away from our chickens (mixed flock right now).

Can they have the skins and rinds of fruit and vegetables?

Watermelon rinds?

Zucchini skin!

Tomatoes skin?

And others?

I know they can’t have onion…but what else can they not have

Is there anything I should be doing first before giving to them to eat …besides wash.

Pic so I don’t get lost

What does this behavior mean?

What are they doing if you see anything else than I do? To me the white female is trying to dominate the black female and then the male all horned up is trying to catch the white one and breed her as she is not really willing to breed with him.

But the females seem to be jumping and biting each other and i dont quite understand why. Is it just hormones because of breeding season? Because they are okay with each other all year until the black one starts sitting on her eggs more.

The white female is quite old now and she probably doesnt want to breed anymore, wich seems as a problem since the male is young and new into the flock and he seems to made a pair only with the black female as they are always by each others side and the female usually goes alone or with the two of them and then she just forages on her own in the garden.

Should i let them establish it themselves or should i try to separate them when i see them going crazy like this?

Inherited a Muscovy Duck with a house I bought

Hey folks!
I just bought a house, and the owner had to leave her 3 chickens and Muscovy duck behind - she’s getting older and just can’t care for them anymore. I’ve been asking her questions, but I’m worried she wasn’t taking the greatest care of the duck at the end.

It’s just one female duck - is it lonely? It also seems to be limping and relatively lethargic, and only perked up when I brought out grasshoppers and mealworms for a treat.

I’ve heard niacin for the limping may help, but does she need a duck friend? Any other advice welcome!! Thanks so much!

help identifying ( ⚠️ dead duck photos 7 and 8, trigger warning proceed with caution ⚠️ )

hello, I am so so sorry to post this here I will take it down if I need to.

I love spending time with the muscovy ducks in my park, they're so beautiful and fun to watch and they've made me want to have some of my own. today however I found a sad surprise, one of them was dead in the lake. my fiancée said it looked like he choked on a fish or something I'm not sure what happened. I'm trying to identify which member of the flock it was. I have narrowed it down to these pictures, does it look like either of these? WARNING the picture of the dead one is the last 2, it is very upsetting and graphic. if all you're able to do is see if the first pictures are the same guy i thank you so very much.

thank you for your help and i will post some of my nicer pictures in a bit.
