Time to ban the OC AI Slopfest, put some regulations in place for business design
Great video showcasing the sad state of business marketing and design I experienced recently in OC (I know it’s everywhere). Mind numbing, lazy, uninspired, and ugly as hell.
Why not set some standards and require businesses to maintain the beachy charm OC used to and still could have? Other places do it.
Places on the boardwalk to watch NFL Sundays?
I asked this last year in the significantly less popular r/oceancitymd (guess I didn’t know this one existed lol)
I have been to ocean city a few times now but have only recently been an attendee of Oceans Calling and this year we will have the vast majority of the day free on Sunday. Looking for a place where we can watch, ideally, numerous NFL games on Sunday on the boardwalk. Like a place with Sunday Ticket that plays everything that’s on.
Previous recs included Pickles (tried that and was told it was a 5 hour wait lol like what why even offer anything) and Hooters (which ended up being pretty good as far as TV setup but like, best case scenario is never Hooters)
Staying on 18th off the boardwalk so anything between that and the festival grounds or even a little further past 18th is fine but would prefer to hit it otw into the fest.
TIAA bros.
Anyone know what happened behind the Jolly Rogers Speedway this evening? State Police helicopter and Fire and Police vehicles present.
Around 5:00 something this evening, a State Police helicopter landed right behind Jolly Roger’s Speedway on 30th. Also saw a fire truck and a couple cop cars, all lit up. Just curious what happened.
Flies too?
In the low-80s the jellyfish were not the problem today — it was flies. Swarms of biting and non-biting ones. Chased most people away. The flies couldn’t bite through rash guards/towels, but they were everywhere from 1-630. Bug spray did not deter them.
Suggestions : evening walks / strolls
Visiting and staying in midtown. Family likes to go for walks after dinner / evenings. Any recommendations for area parks, neighborhoods, foot paths, etc. No beach (no sand). Have done boardwalk twice. Driving to destination is okay. Thanks in advance.
Jellyfish at Assateague
Are people swimming and boogie boarding at assateague? We're staying near 7th street and have only been able to get in for very brief periods of time without getting stung. Yesterday there was no one in the water and folks that did were getting stung multiple times within minutes. Is it worth while trying the beach out at assateague? Or not worth the effort
Jellyfish situation
I'm on 81st Street. There are definitely some jellies, enough to keep my timid family from swimming. It's nothing like the videos I've seen from last week though! It's safe to play/walk on the edge of the water, and there are a few brave people swimming in the waves. I haven't heard anyone screaming about getting stung, and there are some kids walking along the beach collecting jellies in buckets.
The weather is absolutely incredible, A+ no notes.
Ferris Wheel from the Oceanic Motel
The ferris wheel as taken from in front of the "luxurious" Oceanic Motel right on the inlet. This was taken a week ago, August 11th about 10:00 pm.
Places like 7brew?
Is there any places near that serve energy drinks or energy drinks”tea” like drinks similar to 7brew?
Take the Time to Visit Assateague
We stayed in OC for a week and did all the usual fun stuff - the boardwalk, beach, ice cream at Dumser’s, Jolly Roger, crabs, you name it.
But the short trip to Assateague is a worthwhile recharge. Beautiful beach, fewer jellyfish when we were there, and if you’ve never seen the wild horses, don’t pass on the opportunity.
The pass is $25 to get in and is good for a whole week.
If you’re in OC for 3 or more days, spend at least half of one of them at Assateague Island.
Unpopular opinion but as a first time visitor, this was a tourist trap.
Not hating on it but this was my experience. Just spent the last week here as a first timer.. Did all kinds of stuff and ate at all the highly suggested places and still this place seemed like an absolute tourist trap the entire time. I couldn't have one fucking meal without someone trying to come take pics of us to make some $. I couldn't sit at the beach without someone offering to do the same. Way different than going to obx or Clearwater FL where it's way more chill.
Everything here just seemed overpriced and the food was all mid at best aside from a few spots. Bad monkey, dead Freddie's, longboard cafe awesome suggestions and those places were delicious.. However all of the boardwalk food sucked. The seafood was ok but for the cost of being here it was way overpriced for the experience.
I will say, we didn't let the jellys bother us and got to swim and visiting assateague island was amazing. Kids got to see the horses and really enjoyed that experience hiking around. Lots of good mini golf spots too, but I guess I just don't see a need to visit again.
What do y'all do when ya come down?
Oh no the Po-Po
What did I miss during my nap, i mean doing laundry🤣
I think they were just taking a break actually
Best Place to Eat/Drink
My wife, brother, and I just got into town. We are looking for places that won’t break the bank but be a good time when it comes to food/drinks. My wife and I tried Coastal Salt tonight since we just got into town and we were starving. It was good, but we were looking for something a little more relaxed. We have never been here so we were looking for suggestions. Thanks in advance.
Accessible Mini Golf?🚫🪜
Hey friends,
Looking for a recommendation on a place that has a mini golf course built for people with limited mobility. I’ve been to all the old pros and they typically take you up and down stairs to get to the various holes.
Is there a spot with little to no steps? Bonus points if it’s open late.
We're at 144th Street at the beach. there are no jellyfish, I repeat, there are no jellyfish. Take to the waters!
reddit.comGood morning
Huh- I posted this earlier but apparently it didn't post. This is 145th Street, right on Md/ Delaware line
CNN
Stay tuned- apparently OCMD jellyfish problem is going to be on CNN with interviews with harbor master and some other people I can't remember right now🤦🏼‍♀️

Best hikes/trails in and around North Ocean City?
I am looking for some hiking trails in and around northern Ocean City. I hit the gym early in the morning and would love to do my cardio outside. Please give me your suggestions. Thank you. 🙏
