Some signed Mario stuff from a long time ago....

I haven't dug this out in a while, and I figured I'd post a few pics

1990 NHL All Star Game stuff-

Signed ticket - Purchased through Penguins at one point. Probably a charity sale... it's in plastic and has holographic COA.

A signed All Star Weekend program.... I went to the skills competition practice day and bought it.

Walking around concourse, there were a few former players, etc. I was like 15, so didn't know who anyone was, but there was a crowd around one guy. He turned to his page and signed. Turns out it was freakin' Ted Lindsay!

Got Mario to sign it a handful of years later. I've always wanted to get Gretzky to sign it, but have never had the chance.

And a bonus, "Mr Hockey" Sports Illustrated issue.

And no, I'm not selling any of them.

Put the Griswold 14 Griddle to work for dinner on the Weber

Reverse sear with charcoal and wood chunks, then seared on cast iron is the best of both worlds.

I'm content with my Leatherman collection

Decades of multi-tool ownership, and I've owned many different models of Leatherman over the years.

I have a couple more laying around somewhere, but I've narrowed it down to these four as the best for me.

Wave+: I've had this since the plus version pretty much came out. It's the GOAT for a reason. It lives in my truck with some bits, but gets used around the house or outdoors (hence the orange grips).

Free P2: Slim enough for EDC, big enough to do most things. I typically don't need other bits, so the Phillips and flat driver work fine. Good scissors. Free technology is great. I wish it had a plain edge, but I usually have a pocket knife on me.

Skeletool CX: I've had this the longest, carried it every day for years until I got more into pocket knives. Slim and light, driver has good ergos. I wish it had scissors, and I've had the pliers replaced once because they broke. I wish they tried to evolve this platform a bit (instead of just pretty colors).

Style CS: My favorite of the small Leatherman tools. Scissors are great, blade can do minimal cutting tasks. The downfall is the weak carbineer clip. It used to be on my keys, but I lost one and had them fall off the ring too many times. File and tweezers are a plus.

Being thankful...

I stumbled on this John Prine keychain from an online ad, and it really struck a chord with me.

I like John Prine's music well enough, but reading this line put his chorus and melody in my head for a few days so I ordered it.

It made me think just how lucky I am... We often get sidetracked on our (often trivial) problems or focusing on things we want, etc. But sometimes we need to realize how lucky we are.

I have four healthy kids, a great wife, a safe home, steady work, etc. I'm pretty good at being content in what I have, but little reminders help.

As I and my kids get older, I'm trying to instill that in them as well. This keychain is a bit ironic as I saw it on a social media ad, but with social media, my kids often focus on cool things they see, or things they want, and not so much on what we have.

Anyway, rambling at this point, but especially those with older or adult children, what have you done to help them be more thankful?

Wife is looking to replace Venu 2. She's not a heavy user, any recommendations?

Wife has had Venu 2 for a few years, but battery life is really dropping.

She doesn't use it for much fitness stuff, some walks/hikes, wellness type stuff (sleep, stress, etc), and phone notifications (Apple).

Any good outgoing models or something like that that would be a simple transition, and offer decent battery life?

Has anyone dyed orange grivory?

Has anyone tried dying orange into a red or burgundy color? Even a brown without turning it black?

No olive loadout bucket on the website? - It was in one of the "leak" pics posted last week.

I thought the olive bucket would be cool, especially if it had the orange logo, but all that shows on Yeti's site is the wetlands one.

Hmmmm... which one to take camping?

Camping next weeked, and debating on which one. I'll have a fixed blade, so it will be used for small stuff around the site, some food prep, hopefully to gut a few fish, etc...

PM2 LW is new, so I've been carrying it a lot. Open construction is easier to clean. BD1N is fine, but not exciting.

Endela was my companion last summer. I love Cruwear, so am a fan of the PD1.

I'm going to put a neon green lanyard/fob on it, because dark/black knives aren't great for camping lol.

I couldn't pass up the sales... I like this one.

I haven't owned a PM2 for probably a couple of years. Good knives, but the squared edges and boxy feel of a lot of the G-10 Spyderco handles never felt great to me.

But with the rounded edges, this thing sorta melts in my hand.

26oz Rambler water bottle "true" capacity with cap?

I bring a 30oz stackable to work every day with ice water. With the lid on, the capacity is about 28oz. I'm thinking about switching to a water bottle, but wanted to make sure that the 26oz really can hold 26oz with the cap on (probably looking at the new flip chug cap).

I can probably deal with losing a couple ounces, but don't want to push it and get a bottle that holds even less.

New to me purchases...

Getting back into Swiss Army Knives, I wanted to round out my collection a bit. I've had a 40 year old climber and bought a new Huntsman. I wanted to try the backside Phillips, and also wanted a Camper, but I didn't want to spend a lot.

Super Tinker (I did buy blue scales), and I wanted a Camper with the "Camping" logo on it. Each from the 'bay for $15 & $18. They have some scale wear, but basically new internally.

I'm happy to be able to give them some use, after them seemingly just sitting around for years.

Warranty is awesome!

I posted a few weeks ago about a Climber that I got 40+ years ago.

Dumb me broke the tip of the pen blade many, many years ago, and a few people replied about the warranty.

So I sent it in... Scissor spring was broke too.

Got it back today with a new blade, and they replaced the scissors for some reason as well? Not sure why, but I'll take it.

It looks like the scale must've cracked when they disassembled it, because they replaced those too (I didn't realize the old ones were solid).

It was cool that they sent everything back as well.

All for $5!

A local grocery store has these for $18.99

I like all three beers a lot. I grabbed a 12 pack last week and didn't realize the deal. The particular store is a little out of the way, but I was near there again and grabbed two more.

(Best day website sells these for $27.99, Amazon for $24)
