Please do not trust paklap.com

Please do not waste your hard earned money with this scam company paklap.com . I ordered a high end brand new hp omnibook which worked fine for 2 months. After 2 months it started causing issues and i went to a repair shop to get it fixed. The entire laptop was refurbished with parts from other laptops of lower gen. I wasted 3 lac 90 thousand pkr with this company. Please save yours. Posting this as a cautionary tale for paklap.com. I dont usually order online and this experience has probably ruined online shopping for me forever.

Tech Still good for me considering my circumstances ?

I’m currently doing my A Levels and will be applying to universities soon. I live in Faisalabad and most likely will attend the Chiniot campus of FAST (NUCES), since other universities here don’t have as strong a reputation.

I’m very confused about whether pursuing tech—especially Software Engineering—is still a good path long-term. By the time I graduate (around 2030), will SWE still be worth it? I often hear that entry-level jobs are getting harder and that AI is changing the field.

Another concern is that I’m someone who has always been good at getting grades but hasn’t built any real practical skills yet. I’m worried that this might become a problem in a field like tech where skills matter more than academics.

I also cannot leave my city, so I want to understand realistically:

Are people actually able to get remote software jobs from cities like Faisalabad?

Freelancing and Upwork or fiverr are also becoming dead they are not source of predicatble income. People who are able to get clients off platform mostly they get clients which pay them monthly retainers.

I see people younger than me online claiming to build AI agencies and make money, which motivates that I should go in tech. At the same time, I don’t think I can spend this summer learning those skills because I need to focus on entry test preparation. After that, FAST has a reputation for being very demanding (“ragra”), so I’m concerned I won’t have time to build practical skills during university either.

FAST also offers a Fintech degree, which combines CS and business. From what I’ve heard, graduates often go into roles like data analysts or financial engineers They can also become SWE go into machine learning and stuff.

So my main questions are:

  1. Is pursuing tech still worth it for someone graduating around 2030?
  2. How realistic is it to get remote work or freelance opportunities from a smaller city?
  3. Given FAST’s workload, how do students realistically build practical skills alongside their degree?

I’d really appreciate advice from people who have gone through a similar path or are currently working in the industry.

Need suggestions

Hey, I am 20y/o M working as a senior engineer remotely in a US based company, I started my journey since I did my matriculation 2023, earning almost 1M PKR / per month (currently also paying off installments for a place I bought, it’s around half a million PKR per month and would go on for the next 7-8 months almost).

The job is going great, I love working here, money or workplace is not an issue.

But my brain keeps intriguing me to do something more valuable and impactful. I know if I spend my time I can create jobs and pass down my experience, vision and ideology to people. I have a lot of things in mind which I can do, I already learn new things everyday despite of my work; but of course I am also very busy with work, plus a tension of university even if I don’t attend classes regularly.

Is there a suggestion from anyone who have gone from the same phase of having enough skills and money to build a tech business or setup recurring income also managing their job (with less time). I am happy (infact i want to) invest my skills into the idea but only if the outcomes are promising so I don’t just give up when i get exhausted.

Flutter after graduation or switch to MERN for better opportunities?

Hey fam. So bit of a context.
Back in uni days I had no guidance or mentorship and I was basically surviving on the hope that someone would eventually tell me what skill I should pursue. I kept exploring different stacks and technologies and eventually decided to go with Flutter.

Thankfully I got a paid internship at a local company as a Flutter developer, but due to personal reasons I had to leave.
Now after graduating around 7 to 8 months ago, I keep feeling like maybe I should have gone with MERN stack instead.

Everywhere I look, web seems to have more opportunities compared to Flutter. Sometimes Flutter feels like a narrower niche and I start thinking whether long term growth, better salaries, and bigger opportunities would become difficult.

At the same time, I also have this weird ego in my head that after graduating I should already be earning instead of starting from scratch again and learning a completely new stack.

So I genuinely wanted advice from experienced engineers here. Would it still be a good decision for someone in my position to switch and start learning a new stack like MERN, or should I continue building deeper expertise in Flutter?

Would really appreciate honest guidance from people who have been through this phase.

Need Developers

Hey guys I am building a gaming zone system. So the idea is instead of cash, we make it crypto based and cross zone. A player creates account and top up a specific token on his account wallet. He can go to any zone and sign in and start playing. System will auto check the zone and start to cut token from his wallet and transfer to gaming zone owners wallet.
Most of the part is done, main admin panel is done, gaming zone dashboard is done and player dashboard is done, MVP is 50% ready, I have done everything from, but there are some challenges I am facing that AI cannot solve and can only be identified and fixed by real developers
So I am calling out developers if they want to help me out in this project. I am looking for a positive feedback, thank you

What features have you shipped this week?

Here are some features I shipped for BiteTube this week:

  • Added a dedicated “Why it’s worth watching” section so you don't have to watch videos just to end up closing them
  • Built “Continue the Vibe” dynamic discovery which helps user stay on the same vibe of content
  • Polished up the UI to improve user experience
  • Integrated Sanity as the CMS to make managing content easier and efficient

Share what kind of features you shipped in the comments to let other users know about your project!

How do you get people for "Closed testing" for mobile app launches?

I switched from Math -> Data Science -> Software Engineering (trying indie hacking). And I am finally getting around to launching my first ever thing (a mobile app).

I am only launching on Play Store first and I need 12 people to stay opted in for 14 days to be able to launch publicly. Bro how do you get these 12 testers? I gathered 13 of my closed friends and cousins and asked them to install. And only 10 have done (after repeated reminders etc).

I have heard there are some paid services on fiverr that can get you these testers but I didnt want any testers that I couldnt directly connect with for feedback and all. Which is also why i did not ask on any social media.

Am I doing something wrong? How do devs that do not have a lot of tech savvy people in their immediate circle go about this closed tested requirement?

Pakistan seriously needs a “LinkedIn but for actual freelancers” type platform

I’ve been building a platform recently and wanted some feedback before I keep coding myself into insanity.

The idea is simple: A place where freelancers can build a profile with verified projects, verified testimonials/reviews, proof of work, and an overall FreelanceScore based on credibility/activity.

No bidding wars.

No “sir please check inbox.”

No pretending you designed the Nike logo in Canva.

The reason I started thinking about this is because freelance trust is becoming a huge issue, especially locally. So many fake portfolios and copied work that even skilled Pakistani freelancers end up looking suspicious by association.

I feel like there should be a cleaner system where people can actually build trust publicly instead of just dropping random screenshots in WhatsApp groups.

Would something like this actually be useful or am I overthinking the problem?

Looking for a partner (buddy) for upskilling/dev talks

Hey, I am a Full stack developer graduated almost 7 months ago and doing my first job as Software engineer.

Besides my corporate job I am upskilling myself these days. But I am lacking discipline, that's why I need a genuine partner who is serious in upskilling themselves.

For me I have literally a timetable for 7 days a week in which (after my job) I am doing leetcode everyday, system design on alternate days and in parallel I am learning python to pursue towards AI/ML in future.

I have plans for multiple things in future like (DevOps and complex system design) so I can crack hard software engineering interviews.

I am mostly working late at night till 4AM, so we can communicate till late at night.

Hit me up if you are interested!!
