People who have taken this for a long time- opinions needed.

This is regarding my wife, I recently discovered she is back on it after maybe 1 - 1.5 year break. Prior to that she’s been mostly on it for 10+ years. She’s prescribed 75mg a day which seems awfully high to me. She’s not terribly overweight but at times has put on 30-50lbs I’d say. Also times she’s been pretty thin due to the drug. Refuses to exercise or make the necessary dietary and lifestyle changes. Granted exercise on this stuff is really bad news due the effect on HR and body load and the half life is extremely long.

Long story short she doesn’t know that I know she’s back on it currently and I’m documenting things moving forward as we’re having issues. Also of concern to me but not her is she’s prescribed 1.5mg Xanax daily and takes whenever she feels like it and also hiding alcohol so we’ve got a few different things going on.

I’ve taken it in the past as well as stronger stims so I know exactly what it is & does. I also quit drinking 4.5 years ago so I’m well versed in that as well.

How is she getting a doctor to continually prescribe this for over a decade? Any other long term users here who can help shed some light on this situation or advice. Confronting right now is not what I’m looking to do. Things are going to come out in time. I’m well versed in recovery and different substances but more concerned about the day to day and long term effects. I don’t understand how some quack doctor can just keep giving her this.

Or should I not be that concerned?

Woke up late

I’ve gone to bed super late the past two nights (not related to phentermine) and woke up late today, like 1:30, and I’m wondering if it’s too late to take it. Should I skip it for today? Everything I look up just says if you’ve missed a dose take it as soon as you remember unless it is “too late in the day” to avoid insomnia or sleep disturbances, but what is too late?

Any alternatives to phentermine? Wegovy oral pill?

I’m going to try to ask for one more refill of phentermine but I doubt they will give it to me. Has anyone else been on something similar that works? My primary left the practice and I’m seeing a new doctor for my physical, but I’m sure they won’t budge on a phen refill.

Built a tolerance? Phentermine does not feel as effective

I’ve been on phentermine for 6 months and have had great results! First time in my life I’ve been able to maintain a calorie deficit and I lost 20lbs in 4 months. I ramped up to 37.5mg quickly. It was really great not being distracted by hunger and thoughts of food, while it lasted.

My weight loss has plateaued, and I’ve lost 0 lbs in the last 2 months. I can feel my appetite increasing again. It’s been harder to maintain the deficit, and I’m often going over (still well within maintenance zone so no weight gain). I’m at the max dose so my NP says the next step would be to add in topiramate (brand name Qsymia) but I’m concerned about the side effects.

Has anyone else experienced a plateau or appetite increase while on phentermine? Does your body develop a tolerance?

Phentermine

I just got prescribed phentermine 37.5 and I know it acts like a stimulant and I’m on day one and already feeling the jitters, my question is how long the medication lasts for the day, I work an office job so not much moving around while I’m at work 5:30am-2:00pm, will I still have the energy to exercise by the time I get home which is around 3:30pm, what has been yalls experience?

I don’t know if it’s actually working

I started taking phentermine on June 20th, the doctor prescribed me half a pill one hour before breakfast and the second half one hour before lunch.
Since then it’s like I’m still hungry but I don’t wanna eat. Like food grosses me out. I try my best to ignore it and eat in a calorie deficit but I’m hungry all the time. Like when I’m awake it’s pretty much the entire day.
Am I doing something wrong or is this how I’m supposed to feel?

Side note: before I started taking it I was always hungry, like I could eat a full meal, feel full for about an hour and then be hungry again like I hadn’t eaten. The most this pill has done so far is dull the feeling slightly. As I write this I’m hungry but I’m trying my best to ignore it. Especially bc nothing sounds good to eat anyway.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

Phentermine

Hi all!

I’m a 35F and was prescribed phentermine today by my Dr to help aid me in my weigh loss journey. Since I’ve started in Feb I lost 12 lbs on my own but that’s it no matter what I eat or work out I would not lose weight. I am also a runner who’s training about 4 times a week my biggest concern is heart rate, I did read and it states it increases heart rate and that’s my only concern that when I’m running my heart rate will cause me health problems. My Dr didn’t seem too concerned about it, when I do start I’ll will probably take it early morning and my runs are late afternoon. Anyone have any insight? I’m excited to start on this journey I’ve changed my eating habits tremendously I want to use it as a tool in the aid of my new lifestyle.

Phentermine and Methylphenidate

F (30), 5'2, currently taking 10mg of methylphenidate, 7.5 buspirone (2x Daily), 175lbs.

My new PCP prescribed me 37.5 phentermine, saying that this will help with food noise. I only take methylphenidate Mon-Fri.

My psychiatrist is hesitant because both phentermine and Methylphenidate are stimulates. But my PCP said as long as I take them hours apart, and to monitor my blood pressure. I should be fine.....

However I am scared of take both and need some advice ASAP.

Am I just in my head?

I work out 3-4x a week.

Between those days I workout and I track calories intake.

Food noise is hard for me and I have an oral fixation (can chew a entire pack of gum in 2 hrs)

And I am currently in therapy
