Feeling overwhelmed

Im really interested in taking up photography as a hobby. Im a complete beginner (i cant even take good photos on my phone camera). After doing a bit of research online, i bought a new Fujifilm X-T5. Now Im feeling overwhelmed by all the dials and settings. What are good sources for learning the technical basics of photography? Are there classes (physical or online) you can recommend? How do i keep at this without losing interest due to the technical hurdles usually encountered by beginners?

My Experience with Camtech Alec of Cameohub

After thinking about this for a while, I’ve decided to share my experience with Camtech Alec of Cameohub so others can make an informed decision.

I sent my Ricoh GR in for repair in middle of 2025. What followed was nearly a year of repeated delays, apologies, and reasons why the repair was taking longer than expected. Throughout the process, I consistently followed up and was repeatedly assured that progress was being made.

Near the beginning of 2026, I was sent a video showing the camera appearing to work and was told it had already been shipped. Based on this, I paid nearly ₱9k for parts and labor. Later, I was informed that there had been logistical issues with the shipment.

As the months continued, I repeatedly requested the return of my camera. By last month, I learned that the camera was actually still not working. At that point, after waiting almost a year, I no longer wanted to continue with the repair and simply asked for my camera back regardless of its condition.

Before it was released to me, I was asked to sign a confidentiality agreement. In return, the shop agreed to release my camera and refund the payment. I agreed because, after waiting nearly a year, I just wanted my camera back.

I then sought a second opinion from another repair technician. According to their inspection, there were missing screws, the built-in flash—which had been working before I sent it in—was no longer functioning, and they believed it may had been parted. A third opinion was asked, and believed that repair was bad that it looked like it was parted.

As of today, I also have not yet received the agreed refund. I’ve attempted multiple times to reach out, with no replies any longer.

I understand that repairs can be difficult and that not every repair is successful. But it did not feel as though my time nor camera were respected. I’m not trying to influence anyone’s decision, I just wanted to share my own experience.

Thinking of swapping my a6400 for the a6700

Is it worth to swap from a6400 Body to a6700 Body?

Current Gear:
- a6400
- Tamron 17-70mm f2.8
- Sigma 56mm f1.4
- Viltrox 35mm f1.7
- Viltrox 9mm f2.8

Main reason is for IBIS.

Worth it rin ba swap yun tamron zoom to sigma 18-50mm para mas light overall setup?

Where and how to properly store a camera?

It’s my first time having a mirrorless camera and I want to avoid anything that could damage it since I’ll be using this until I graduate. Right now, I only store it in a camera bag. Please also share how you guys maintain your equipment, thank youuu!

Some sample shots from my Lumix G3 as a beginner

For a 15-year-old camera, I can't believe it can take these kinds of photos straight from the camera, except for the last four as I tried editing raw photos. I find it very fun shooting with a camera than with a phone. There's just something satisfying hearing the shutter click and adjusting the settings yourself then looking at the shots you took, even though the settings/focus are all off due to me using a manual lens and not knowing what all the buttons do. Might be here for the long run haha.

Is there something wrong with my Olympus camera?

How do I fix this? I hope it's nothing serious. The LCD keeps blinking, I don't have the film inside of the camera, is that causing the problem?

Bought a used camera to try out photography using a camera, any tips?

So ayun, I bought a used camera(Lumix G3) sa shapi(from japan) for around 7k for both the body and a MF lens to test the waters. This is gonna be my first camera and I have no knowledge when it comes to photography using a camera kasi kadalasan cp lang gamit ko pag-pic. Had to rely on google lens, ai, and YT vids to manuever around the camera though kasi japanese yung language and di sya nababago, in which I already knew bago ko pa sya bilhin(mag-aral nalang siguro ako japanese haha). Any tips for a newbie in handling a camera or taking photos with it?

Is 85k enough for buying a mirrorless camera and lens as a gift?

I am planning to bring the giftee to a camera store with a wide selection or mirrorless cameras. She used to have a DSLR but it broke and haven't used it for almost 5 years now.

I don't have any expertise in the photography hobby but did my best to shortlist potential options like the Sony A6400 + Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 lens. We also tried a demo unit of the A6400 with the original kit lens, and she got excited about the idea of finally taking photos again. So at least my gift idea is in the right direction. I read online that the kit lens is not that good and better buy a separate versatile lens like the Sigma.

I have budgeted around 85k for this gift. Is this enough?

Also, is it a good idea to bring her to a camera store with demo units to see what she actually likes? I'm worried my current budget is not enough for other options.

Thank you in advance everyone!
