OMP M2V3 Sport Rescue Switch is legit!

Flying today and its very windy, my M2 got away from me and started flying fully sideways right towards a bunch of trees!

I froze up and first and was stunned to think I was gonna destroy my new heli(have about 16 batteries flown so far).

At the last second I hit my rescue switch, which thankfully I had set up just a couple days before. It worked wonderfully! The heli re-oriented upright and blasted straight up into the sky missing the trees and saving me from collecting parts in the forest!!

I had tested the rescue switch of course but just at a hover and it worked wonderfully. I hoped it would work when the heli wasn’t upright and it sure did!!

TLDR: Rescue mode is totally legit and an amazing feature!

Test Pilot on Test Platform

Just thought I'd show the test platform I use to test the mechanics before I install them in a scale fuselage. This is 600 size and will go in a UH-60 Jayhawk fuselage I'm building.

K110S wrong pitch?

Hi, I just wanted to get into RC flying and bought myself a k110s. I saw a video where someone showed his pitch angles. They were nearly the same at 0% and 100% pitch. Mine got a huge difference. First picture ist 0%, second is 100% and third is center 50%.
Is this normal or is mine broken?

Stratos 200

To the people curious this is my 2 cents. I’ve flown almost every 200 out there except the new goosky whatever. I thought the info v2 pro was good but this thing on vbar is my new fav. 4s 3s it’s locked in 6 min flight times it’s not twitchy like the other ones were for me. It’s got big locked in feel it’s just a dream. So if you want a new 200 this things a winner for me. The only down sides I have are the canopy is complete plastic shit and the skids are a little low and flimsy.

Stratos 200 vs Goosky S2 Ultra

Im into Rotorflight in my bigger Helis.
Also flying an ol Align TRex 250 with Nexus and Rotorflight on it.
Thinking about a new 200 size heli.

What do you guys think about the hype on the new Stratos 200?
Is it worth thinking about getting the stratos or the goosky s2 ultra as an Rotorflight mini?

Indoor heli with nav lights

Hi,
I am looking for an indoor RC heli (these 20-50€ types from amazon, or maybe there are better ones) but with realistic navigation lights (red, green, white, and maybe a beacon).
Could you give me some recommendations please? I have a real drone for outside but really enjoy the small indoor helis as well, had good experience with a 20€ one.
Thank you

Good nitro heli for beginner?

looking to join this hobby and found this used Hirobo .46 Nitro Engine GPH 346 RC helicopter for my first heli which seemed pretty good for the price. Does this heli look like its in good condition/maintained well?

I have experience with nitro rc cars tho.

Seller description: Futaba servos and Gyro, also comes an extra tall boom, new spare tail rotor blades, new belt conversion kit, 2 set of new main rotor blades, one set of carbon fiber blades, some small extra spare parts and original building manual. Just need to plug in your receiver, recalibrate everything, connect to your own 8ch transmitter and ready to fly.

Finally got my first heli

I posted in this sub about a week ago asking for recommendations on where to get an rc heli, and I chose motion rc. I LOVE my huey!! it is such a great heli and I did break it on my first flight, but it was an easy fix. It was pretty windy last evening, but that didn’t stop me from flying for almost 2 hours and I ran down the battery lol. After work I am definitely flying again, and im taking it on my trip next week. I wish I could add a gimbal to fpv it, but it might be a bit too heavy.

4in makes a big diff :-)

I love the MD 500. My favorite helicopter ever. When this RTF version became available, it was a must-have. It looks 95% scale right out the box. The extra 4 in makes me happy. (That's what she said).

I was able to do a handful of successful flights. Cannot wait to get to the airfield this weekend.

The tale boom extension was printed in lightweight PLA, reinforced with carbon fiber rods and held on by epoxy resin.

I added a dollar worth of coins to the nose, and push the battery all the way forward. It flies good so far it has been super windy and I get home late so haven't been able to get any great photos, stay tuned.

Looking for a Reliable Brand for Stable Scale RC Helicopters

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a reliable company that makes stable, high-quality scale RC helicopters.

Stability is my number one priority, but scale realism is also very important to me. I’m open to both small and large scale helicopters. Smaller models are appealing because they are easier to transport and can be flown indoors, but I’m also willing to invest in larger helicopters if they offer significantly better stability, realism, and overall quality.

Here are the RotorScale helicopters I currently own and my experience with them:

  • RotorScale H-1 Huey “114th AHC” 150 Size (RTF) – Extremely stable and my favorite helicopter so far, but the swashplate assembly broke.
  • RotorScale MD-500 Defender “PAF” 120 Size (RTF) – Not stable at all.
  • RotorScale EC-135 180 Size (RTF) – Crashed on the first flight and is now broken.
  • RotorScale BO-105 100 Size (RTF) – Also not stable at all.

Based on my experience, the H-1 Huey was by far the most stable and enjoyable to fly, and I’m looking for something similar or even better.

My goal is to find a dependable brand known for:

  • Excellent stability
  • Realistic scale appearance
  • Strong build quality
  • Good parts availability
  • Long-term reliability

Questions:

  1. Which brands do you consider the most reliable for scale RC helicopters?
  2. What models would you recommend if stability is the top priority?
  3. Are there any brands or models I should avoid?

I’d really appreciate recommendations from people with hands-on experience. I’m willing to invest in the right helicopter if it offers outstanding stability and quality.

Thanks in advance!

Goosky S1: what spare parts to get

Looking at getting a Goosky S1 to upgrade from my k110s that I'm flying now and I'm wondering what spare parts to stock up on right away, so that a crash or two won't ground me immediately. I fly over tall grass and got pretty good with throttle cut so I don't expect much damage but what are the parts that break?

Best starter heli with someone who lives in a pretty windy area ?

My budget is max 150 USD. I live 3 miles away to Lake Erie so lake winds are pretty common, but some days are calmer than others. I'm not gonna be stupid and take it out on days where the winds are too high. Also, what wind speeds are too high for the helis u guys recommend, if you know that ?

Thanks in advance. I used to be big into rc helis growing up but I only got the cheap ones that broke within 15 minutes. Im excited to get back into it. With the weather warming up, it'll be a nice hobby. Okay bye xoxo

When should I start with inverted?

Recently bought an OMP M1 V3 Pro to be able to practice at home. I still don't feel comfortable doing complete flights backwards. When should I try inverted flight?

SAB 520 Tail Belt Rubbing (Again)

Greetings all,

Last year I got a SAB 520 and had a ton of problems with the tail belt rubbing against the main gear and pulley. SAB was no help at all. I spoke to Amain Hobbies about all this, and they gave me a very good deal on a new 520 kit. I built the new kit without using ANY parts from the original kit. It seemed to go together just fine and the belt looked good, thought I knew it wasn't perfectly riding along the pulley. This was in November of 2025.

Now it's May 2026 and the belt on the new kit is starting to show real wear. These belts should last for YEARS. I am now wondering what I can possibly do to keep this thing from requiring a new tail belt (and possibly more parts) every 6 months.

I could really use some suggestions here.

Trex 450L Part Availability

After my crashed 450l has been sitting crashed on the shelf for some years I decided to fix it again.

Most parts are out of stock at the align trex shop as well as many others. I want to order everything from one place.

Is this model being discontinued? Are the parts cross compatible with newer models? Not sure how i feel about certain clone parts. Would rather get oem

C-189 to CH-53K Conversion

I took the mechanics out of an RC-Era C-189, and forced them into a printed CH 53. The CH 53 was intended to be a desktop toy, so I had to scale it up and modify it the best I could in my slicer. Not a lot of editing options in a slicer.

Anyway it flies, but barely gets off the ground 😂. I printed the body as lightweight as possible, but the mechanics just don't have enough ass to lift this bad boy. I ordered some blades from a YX F-119S, to see if I can adapt them, and also a four blade tail from a Goosky E2.

I think it will fly better with those adjustments, until the motor cooks-off 😂. I will report when I get them adapted.

MD-500D Magnum PI Super Scale 470

Just received the MD500 Magnum PI design edition from Rodan.

This fuselage is beautiful. The lighting accessory kit is amazing.

The only trouble I've been having so far is with the telemetry. The voltage indicator on the helicopter is always at half full even though the batteries 100%

I'm thinking this is causing premature return to home triggers.

If anybody has an idea on how to recalibrate this setting please let me know.

The other issue I had is with the tail it's not proportional to the size of the helicopter. If you look out there other bigger models all of the tails are longer.

I have disassembled the stock model tail mount.

I am currently designing and 3D printing and extension motor mount that makes the fuselage look more to scale.

Hear a few prototypes so far.

Going to be using lightweight PLA reinforced with two part epoxy resin and then painted.

I had to extend the brushless motor wires and the rear beacon light wires.

Are 200 size helis harder to fly 3D?

It’s been over 15 years but I’m highly considering picking up the RC hobby again. I used to fly planes as a 10 year old and had a boatload of hours in the sim flying anything from jets to 3D helicopters.

In the search for a new outdoor hobby, thought I’d give 3D helicopters a real shot this time. I’m about 20 hours deep in Heli-X and feeling pretty comfortable again. Had to relearn all muscle memory ofcourse but I’m at a point where I’m doing a couple basic 3D maneuvres like hurricanes, funnels, tic tocs… in all orientations and some others I don’t even know the names of.

When it comes to buying a real first heli, everyone seems to recommend starting with a 200 size. I was wondering if they’re as hard and twitchy to fly IRL as they are in the sim? The smaller helis need very precise collective control because of the higher rotor RPM I’m guessing. A 700 class on bank 1 seems so much easier and more relaxed to fly. Wondering if it’s not easier to buy a bigger heli first? I prefer a low RPM flying style right now and all I see these M2/S2’s do in videos is either beginner flying or hardcore smack stuff. Can you fly these on lower RPM’s while still having enough lift for the fun but relaxed stuff?
