Freshwater Tank?
Is there a reason why I couldn't use a freshwater tank for a saltwater aquarium? I keep seeing used ones around here, that are in amazing shape, and thought that would be pretty cool.

I have just started my first reef tank I am using a Landen 16 x 16 cube but I am using a light from a 13 gallon fluval evo tank. Just wondering how I would go about using that light for coral growth. It has a white and blue mode and a blue mode. The catch is that it is only manual touch. If I put it on a timer it will only go to the white and blue mode.
Had a few Asterina hitchike from my LR, and recently started pulling them out because they have been eating my macro algaes. Compared to the tiny asterinas I have found, this guy is a unit, about thumbnail size. I don’t want to pull him out if he’s not an asterina… looks to have 5-6 legs. Pull him out?
The tank’s dimensions are 33cm wide, 72cm long and 40cm tall.
It’ll be a mix of macroalgae and soft corals, along with For snails there’ll be 1 Trochus Snail, 3 cerith snails, a single strawberry conch and three nassarius snails, 9 sexy shrimp, a single porcelain crab and a feather duster worm
I’m thinking a pair of clowns or some other nano fish
I have a bonded pair of clownfish that have been in this nano 15g for eight months, always healthy and happy. No changes to tank in over four months…cancer in the family and I have been gone for multiple days at a time over the last couple months and I haven’t even tested any parameters - the zoanthids, GSP, snails, hermits, and Acans are all in good shape - the tank appears healthy and is stable with no excessive algae.
I was gone for a few days and came back to see them active and hungry, acting normal, but their mouths are white and it doesn’t appear to be a growth, just not bright orange like they were before
fighting?
bacteria?
The tank in question is 29cm in Width, 58cm in Length and 42cm Height, so 70 litres or 18 gallons.
I was originally wanting it in my 25 gallon but they’re just too aggressive for my other livestock.
And this tank in particular is will have corals and macroalgeas that are more invasive, think blue octodes and caulerpa taxifolia Pulsing Xenia, green star polyps, Kenya tree, mushroom coral, Star Polyp Blue (Anthem App) and zoanthids
Just received this coral from LFS and looks like I have a hitch hiker. Any ideas what it is? The first part of the video you can see the muscle looking thing jizz in the water. Then a better video with the blue light off.
I was originally planning on a clown harem tank but it wont work out after some research. Im gonna start by putting gsp on the back wall im Thinking of xenia on bottom rock but i have that overhang blocking light? Should i just put it on top of the overhang? Next to the nems. I have a single kessil a160 over my cube.
The tank’s dimensions are 33cm wide, 72cm long and 40cm tall, so 25 gallons.
I have to be honest I really really want the damselfish! I mean look at him!
But my tank will also have sexy shrimp and snails.
Thoughts?
I’m curious how much torches and hammers go for when they are grown out, I have a green torch with 6 heads and they’re sold for $80-125 per head online and I have a dragon soul with 3 heads when they’re sold for $80-400 per head, what’s a reasonable ask I’m breaking my tank down and don’t want to look crazy
I‘ve had my jellyfish for close to 2 months. My tank is fully cycled. Today I noticed there are a bunch of little white things crawling around the suction cup of my thermometer. Google said they are likely copepods, but I wanted to make sure/figure out what to do. i feed them dry food from JellyfishArt (I know it’s not great, but I live in a dorm and that’s what I have) and use Stability and JellyBio Maintain when I do water changes. I saw that copepods can be a good source of food for jellyfish, so if that’s what they are, should I just leave it? And if I need to get them out of there, how do I clean the tank so they don’t come back? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Hello Fish Owners and Experts!
Ive recently introduced a pair of clownfish into my tank alongside a few corals and they seem to be settling in nicely over the past few days. Energetic, eating, I've kept a close eye on water parameters and all seems to be within tolerances. After cleaning some excess food today I noticed the female had some marks on her usual brilliant white.
As a new owner I've little experience with warning signs to look out for and I want to ensure I'm doing my all to provide a safe environment for these fellas. So my question is, do these marks look lile bruising or something more? She seems to enjoy swimming into the outlet pump high flow area and riding the current, maybe she collided with a rock and this is just the aftermath. Thankyou all for your time and any opinions!
Found these when cleaning my five year old 75gal sw tank. Small 3/8” in length and slightly smaller diameter with a prickly outer and a small ‘tongue’ protruding from the center.
I’m just got home from work about an hour ago and found my biocube completely opaque with two of my fish dead, I pulled everything I could out and put my rocks in buckets and all my livestock I could find in this little 3 gallon tank.
I think my anemone crawled into my wavemaker and got shredded.
How do I fix this? I’m going tomorrow to my LFS and buying enough water to do a 100% water change but is my biomedia still even okay to use? Or do I have to start from scratch?? Any advice is appreciated I really have no clue what to do here.
What I have living right now is a pair of clowns, a yellow angel, a conch, turbo snail, peppermint shrimp, tuxedo urchin, Halloween crab, emerald crab, and a handful of small hermit crabs. And a yasha goby who honestly looks to be on his way out. I can’t find my anemone crab or my sexy shrimps, so I have no clue about them. I just want to save everyone I can 😭
I also have some corals (spaghetti leather, pulsing Xenia, zoas, gsp and a Duncan) I don’t know what to do 😭😭😭😭
Image is when I just got the tank
The tank in question is 29cm in Width, 58cm in Length and 42cm Height, so 70 litres.
For macroalgae blue octodes and caulerpa taxifolia
For corals Pulsing Xenia, green star polyps, Kenya tree, mushroom coral, Star Polyp Blue (Anthem App) and zoanthids
I’m not sure about inverts or fish.
Help?
I’m wanting it to be wild and low maintenance compared to my display tank
I’m wanting two aquariums.
One aquarium will have more verity of macroalgea and the over being more invasive and I’m thinking maybe I could switch it between the two tanks so it can eat them without outright destroying them?
For the first tank its macroalgea will be red bamboo macroalgae, Cryptonemia Crenulata, dead man's fingers macroalgae, branching hex macroalgae and orange galaxy macroalgae.
The invasive reef will just have blue octodes and caulerpa taxifolia.
But is my idea silly/dangerous?
