Hey everyone, I’m 19 and completely new to skincare.
I’ve always had "good" skin and never had acne, so I got away with doing nothing my whole life, but lately my skin has changed. It feels and looks very dry, and I’m noticing a lot of rough texture and fine lines that are really bothering me at my age.
The few random products I’ve tried make my skin flare up a bit, it gets a bit red and forms small, pimple-like bumps.
What I need help with:
How to fix the dryness and texture without triggering a reaction
Recommendations for a super basic, gentle routine (cleanser, moisturiser, SPF)Where should I start?
Also, the past few months I've developed a red cluster on my chin that won't go away? There like tiny pimples but there not even pimples. I've never have anything like this on my face before.
Where do I even start? Any recommendations for a basic, sensitive-skin-friendly routine? Thanks!
I usually get acne around my chin, jawline, and cheek area, my forehead usually just gets the tiny bumps and texture. I experience redness/ hyperpigmentation from old acne that has gone away but left the red marks. I don’t have any scarring. My current routine which has improved my skin since it’s been worse before is the Laroche posay tomefaine purifying foaming cleanser, their double repair matte moisturizer, and sometimes i use the ordinary salicylic acid for closed comedones on my cheeks. i also sometimes use the medicube oxen pink collagen cream when i feel my skin needs moisture. Also i do have eczema but usually it never affects my face
My sister was the one who pointed it out first and said my 11s are looking much smoother, so now I’m curious if other people can see it too or if we’re both staring too hard lol. Routine has been pretty simple: gentle cleanser, Solawave red light mask atnight on clean skin, moisturizer and tretinoin on the nights my skin can handle it. Morning is moisturizer and SPF as per usual. I’m not trying to credit one single thing because tret and SPF are obviously doing a lot but the combo seems to be helping my texture look smoother overall. Im really happy for my progress if this does count as one.
Thank you all so much for your high altitude suggestions! This is the routine I used last night/this morning and what I am going to stick with for 30 days before adjusting any products. My face already feels so much better and it’s only been 24 hours.
AM: cleanse with water, 3-4 sprays hypochlorous acid solution, la roche-posay cicaplast balm b5+, spf
PM: cleanse with Cerave foaming oil cleanser, 3-4 sprays hypochlorous acid solution, 3-4 drops the ordinary soothing and barrier support serum, la roche-posay cicaplast balm b5+
The rosy cheeks brought to you today by fever from strep throat!
My routine:
AM Splash water on face Moisturize with Sukin rosehip day cream Some By Mi v10 sunscreen (when needed)
PM Cleanse: LRP Toleraine and/or Tula unscented Moisturize with Sukin rosehip night cream
On days when I feel a bit dry, I'll add LRP cicaplast, usually around my mouth and eyes.
I've tried SO many routines over the years and in the end, simple is what works best for me!
There are so many products and ingredients being recommended online that it’s hard to know what’s genuinely worth trying.
I’m curious, what’s one skincare product or ingredient that you personally noticed a difference with, and how long did it take to see results?
Like I'm thinking to start doing skincare I'm 17
And I have sensitive skin
I’ve been going back and forth on which LED mask to buy and figured I’d ask here before I finally decide.
I have mild rosacea on my cheeks, but I also get the occasional breakout, so I’d really like something that can help with both. I’m also prone to migraines, so I’m a little worried about how bright some of these masks are. I definitely don’t want something that feels uncomfortably bright or gets really hot.
Has anyone with rosacea found a mask that has helped with redness and acne, without being super bright or hot?
I’ve mostly been looking at the CurrentBody Multi-Light and Omnilux Clear, but I’m open to other suggestions too.
I’m also a little hesitant about the CurrentBody because I’ve heard some people mention having issues with their devices, and I’m wondering how good their customer service is if something goes wrong. Has anyone actually had to deal with CurrentBody customer service because their mask stopped working or they had a warranty issue? How was your experience?
If you have rosacea, I’d love to know what you’re using and whether you’d buy it again. And if you’re sensitive to bright light or prone to migraines too, I’d especially love to hear from you!
Hi everyone, I’ve been using 0.25 tretinoin gel for 5 months now and I’m afraid I’m not noticing a difference in my acne with it.
I use the cerave moisturizer(the one in the tub that u can get at Costco in a pack of 2)
For face wash I use the cera ve hydrating foaming cleanser and the non foaming one as well
I’ve been using the sandwich method ever since starting tret and my skin isn’t peeling or anything like that but even if my skin clears for a few days the acne always comes back(on the lower part of my face)
I’ve also been on spironolactone 50 mg for about 3 weeks now which I’m aware isn’t long enough to actually notice a difference but I just feel disheartened about the way my face looks as school is about to start again and this combination isn’t exactly working
I’m in my early 30s and have started noticing some faint lines around my eyes and on my forehead that weren’t really there a few years ago. They’re not deep, but I’d like to keep them from becoming more noticeable if I can. I already wear sunscreen and keep my skincare routine pretty simple, but I’ve been looking into other options too. Has anyone tried devices for fine lines or general skin aging? Did you notice a difference, and if so, how long did it take before you started seeing results?
I got this at a pharmacy a few days ago, the pharmacist recommended it for me. She said she personally uses it to squeeze all the gunk out of her nose.
I have enlarged clogged pores on my nose mainly. My skincare routine as a newbie is just a foam cleanser followed by a salicylic acid serum that I leave overnight.
The pharmacist said my pores were too congested and that the salicylic acid wouldn’t help if I don’t get them manually removed first, either professionally at a clinic or using this tool in the photo.
I’m not sure what she meant, but I think she wants me to use it just once to get the most prominent pores, then carry on with the salicylic acid.
i got off birth control last thanksgiving which was mainly used to shadow my acne until i was finished with puberty, (currently 19 F). My acne had started coming back when i started college even on bc so i just decided to get off it and let my hormones do its thing and sort itself out. it did not. i only really break out all over my forehead but it was just between my eyebrows and the middle of my forehead before tret. when i went on tret it spread all over my forehead, i have so much texture and new closed comedones that pop up every week that replace the ones i had just gotten rid of in that area. im at an all time low and dont know what to do. i think my skin barrier is broken so im just now only doing basic oil-free cleanser and oil-free moisturizer, (i have oily and somewhat sensitive skin).
AM:
clinique all about clean liquid facial soap oily skin formula
natrium azelaic acid derivative complex 10%
clinique dramatically different moisturizing cream(just switched to gel)
neutrogena collagen bank spf moisturizer
PM:
CeraVe acne control cleanser
tretinoin cream 0.025% (was doing this every night from working up from 2-3 nights a week)
clinique dramatically different moisturizing cream
the first two pictures were before tretinoin, the next three were the day i stopped all actives, and the last are a few days of the cleanse
Hey everyone, just curious about how you all handle your skin, especially when those first big breakouts hit.
Have the most stubborn skin tag in my armpit. Want to get it off asap but don’t want to go to the derm. Has anything worked for you to eradicate it completely? TIA!
can anyone recommend how to get smoother/youthful skin? Which treatments I need? I am 41. I just started last month Tret .025, Anua aa, prequel milky toner, Nazumbin 09 toner, Cosrx moisturizer, and Timeless Vit C.
Never any Botox, fillers, etc
Not perfect but 100% worth it!
everyone’s advice was right! i had a pretty large milia on my cheek (quite noticeable in photos and irl) and it finally came out today! i used a combination of methods so im not sure which fixed it, but it worked!
for a week or so i did the hot water on a towel to dry it out trick, it seemed to harden it and bring it to the surface more but wouldn’t come out. i use glycolic acid toner anyway but i started putting more onto the milia and rubbing it gently when i did my skincare. this also did seem to bring it to a “head” more.
however, the strangest thing happened a few days ago. i got a pimple right where the milia was! it became really red and prominent (albeit painless), became a lot harder and brought the milia to the surface a lot more. i noticed one day after washing my face that the pimple seemed to be popping, but it was just normal pimple contents & not the milia. i put hydrocolloid patches on it for a few days & after that i continued my skincare routine as normal. the pimple/milia began to shrink and today i simply itched my cheek and felt the whole milia just pop out.
i can’t believe something i dealt with for so long is finally gone! i only have one left on my waterline now, so i will continue to take these steps^ and hopefully find out which works best!
just wanted to share my success story with you guys, i hope the same happens to you if you want to get rid of your milia! i read a lot of potential solutions on this reddit page and didn’t believe any until now, you don’t have to have milia forever!
Top pic is 8 months ago. Bottom is now. I’m 31 and had been dealing with adult hormonal acne for a while. Mostly cheeks and jaw, but it wasn’t responding to anything. I also had constant redness/inflammation. This is the first time in YEARS where I don’t feel like I need foundation.
Here’s what worked for me (the lifestyle changes are probably the biggest drivers)…
Morning Routine:
- Rinse with water
- IS clinical Proheal Vitamin C serum (so expensive but unfortunatley I will keep purchasing because it’s good for acne and really brightened my skin)
- Vanicream daily moisturizer (I love this!)
- La Roche Posay Melt in Milk SPF 60 (I also love Round Lab’s birch juice SPF)
Evening Routine:
- Cleanse (I’ll use anything but currently using beauty bio The Balance cleanser)
- 3x week: VT Reedle Shot 100 (I like the glow it gives)
-1x week: Anua Azelaic acid (I like this for redness)
- Olay Regenerist
- Adipeau Volume Cream on top (I’ve had this for a few weeks.. too new to have an opinion on it yet)
Lifestyle Changes:
- Spironalactone 100mg (Probably 90% of the improvement was this)
- Red light mask 1-4 times a week (I think it really helps heal my post acne marks faster and gives me a more even tone)
- Broke up with my ex who was cheating on me (Probably underrated for how much it improved my stress)
… also if anyone has advice for chest redness please let me know!
I am also curious , is anybody allergic to Linalool?
