Confused between Australia, Germany, and other affordable countries for a Master's after BDS – Need honest advice

Hi everyone,

(First of all I have mentioned the currency in INR, i.e

GBP- 40000 GBP approx

AUD- 76000 AUD approx

CAD- 75000 CAD approx)

I'm from India and have a BDS degree. I'm planning to switch to a non-clinical career and pursue a Master's in fields like Healthcare Management, Health Informatics, Health Information Management, or similar programs.

I'm feeling completely stuck and would really appreciate advice from people who have gone through this.

My situation:

I have offer letters from Australian universities, but the total cost is going beyond ₹50 lakh, which is difficult for my family.

I'm also applying to Germany. I have taken the PTE, but a few consultancies are telling me that the German Embassy may reject my student visa because I didn't take IELTS. This has made me very anxious because I've heard mixed opinions.

One option I'm considering is BSBI in Berlin/Hamburg, but I'm worried because it is a private institution and I've read discussions saying it is not as highly regarded as public German universities. Would studying there affect my visa approval, job opportunities, or long-term career prospects?

My budget is around ₹30–35 lakh (including tuition and living expenses).

My priorities are:

Good return on investment (ROI)

Strong job market after graduation

Possibility of staying and working after the degree

Opportunity to save money and eventually support my family in India

An English-taught program

My questions are:

If you were in my position, which country would you choose?

Is PTE really a problem for a German student visa, or is this just consultancy misinformation?

Is BSBI worth considering, or should I avoid it?

Are there other countries where I could realistically complete a Master's within ₹30–35 lakh and still have good career prospects?

I'd really appreciate honest opinions, especially from people currently studying or working abroad.

Thank you so much!

Finally Approved! 🇨🇦 Canada Study Permit (India) | Timeline + A Few Lessons

After what felt like the longest 10 days of my life, I finally received my Passport Request (PPR)! 😭🇨🇦

I spent hours on this subreddit reading everyone's timelines, so here's mine in case it helps someone.

Applied from Delhi, India.

Timeline

  • June 22: Study permit application submitted
  • June 25: Biometrics completed
  • June 29: Medical examination request (IMM1017E) received (I had already done an upfront medical)
  • July 2: Medical exam passed
  • July 2: Passport Request (PPR) received 🎉

My experience

This process was honestly much more stressful than I expected. I kept second-guessing every decision I made, but in the end, everything worked out.

If you're currently waiting, try not to compare your timeline with everyone else's or assume the worst from every status update. Easier said than done, I know, but sometimes your application is progressing normally even when it doesn't feel like it.

Good luck to everyone who's still waiting. Wishing you all a speedy PPR! 🍁🇨🇦

I have a bachelor degree but i am applying for electromechanical technician diploma

The reason is because I have zero work experience in electrical engineering, this program does not exist in my home country, I can't apply for a masters degree due to low GPA but this program will make me eligible afterwards. Do you think I'll be accepted by the IRCC

Passport Request Letter

My application for my Study Permit has been recently approved and I have a few questions; first, they asked for my passport but I already have a visa with multiple entries that is valid for the duration of my studies, will they modify that visa and give me a new one? Or will they just return it as it is?; second, how long does it take for them to return my passport? My flight is in two weeks (literally bought it on January) and to delay it without delay fees I have to modify the date 8 days prior to the flight so I just want to know in how many days did you guys get your passports back; and third, after submitting my passport, when do they submit the Letter of Introduction POE? I need to register to classes in 7 days and they said that without the issued Study Permit or the Letter of Introduction I shouldn’t register. If someone has had similar experiences to me please let me know🙏😁

applying as us citizen

I applied for my study permit a few days ago from the US as an American citizen. The website says I don't need biometrics or any of the other things, and processing time is 4-5 weeks. Has anyone had to wait longer than that? I'm worried it won't come in time. I also didn't know until after that you can apply at the border, so I guess I have to stick with this.

Student permit approved

My partner and I applied for the study permit last May 18, 2026 (from The Philippines)
Biometrics done: May 21, 2026
Upfront medical passed: May 25, 2026
Approval and passport request: June 29, 2026 (6 weeks)

I was a bit anxious with the result because I feel like we are a little short with the budget. My partner and I have online saved 40K CAD. Based on my research I thought we need over 50K CAD. Thankfully we got an approval.

I wanna say reddit posts and comments did help us to build our story line to the IRCC. I honestly thought I overdid the documentation I submitted, thankfully it worked. See you Vancouver!!!!! 😭😭😭😭

Study Permit Delayed Beyond Processing Time – Any Ideas Why?

I’m a Master’s applicant. I applied from Bangladesh on May 13 and provided my biometrics on May 18. My portal shows that my medical exam was passed on May 21, and my eligibility review started on June 16.

When I applied, the estimated processing time was 5 weeks. It’s now been 48 days. I raised a webform last Wednesday, but I only received a generic reply. What do you think might be causing the delay in processing my application?

Reapplied June 5 (Fall Intake) after IELTS OSR rejection – Anxious about timelines, any insights?

Hey everyone,

I’m getting really anxious and looking for any timeline insights from recent applicants. I’m heading to Ontario Tech (MITS AI) this Fall.

My first study permit application was rejected strictly because of an IELTS One Skill Retake. I fixed the issue and reapplied.

My current timeline:

May 5: Original application

May 11: Biometrics & Medicals done (rejected shortly after)

June 5: Reapplied

June 18: Portal updated: "You passed the medical exam"

Current Portal Status:

Eligibility: In progress

Background Check: In progress

Final Decision: In progress

(Additional docs & Interview not needed)

Since we are nearing July and the Fall intake is approaching, I’m stressing out. For anyone who applied or reapplied in June, how long did it take for your background check and eligibility to clear after your medicals passed?

Any estimates or recent experiences would really help ease my mind! Thanks 🙏

Visa Specific Office Requirement Letter of Reference

Hi, I am to soon apply for my study permit for a program starting September 1st from outside Canada (India). The New Delhi visa office instruction checklist states that they need Reference letter from the individuals providing you financial assistance for your program, you must include.

They give specific points that must be included in that letter and I already have an affidavit of Financial support on non-judicial stamp paper signed by my parent and notarized but there was a point I missed (number of dependents). Would it be fine if I have this reference letter just signed and not printed on stamp paper or notarized or would that be too risky. I dont really have the time for it given how late I am applying.

PhD study permit

Hey there, I got acceptance from good accredited University for my PhD program, which is funded and the fundings for a year are above the numbers which are required by IRCC for a year. I submitted my application for study permit last week itself wherein I had put my funding details as proof of funds. I am just curious to know what is the processing time especially when IRCC says 14 days for PhD students.
Any PhD students with study permit ? Would like to connect with you guys <3
