Has anyone here seen The Kirlian Frequency?

Short argentinian web series, a bit of a mix between Welcome to Night Vale's weird little town and TMA anthology horror, you can find all 10 episodes on YouTube.

Magnus Archives event in Sheffield

Me and my mate just started saying what if they bring out a special guest and it’s just an avatar. Like fuck me, Mike Crew just showed up and now the entire theatre has just tripled in size 🫪 and now I can’t find the exit

“The eye watches and the stranger conceals, but me? I lie, Archivist”

I made a Micheal doll! Thanks to everyone who weighed in about the eyes. I ended up sculpting and painting them myself! He can move his limbs up and down, has wire in his neck, AND has a voice box that says the title of this post!

Hiatus Fatigue

So I want to preface this with saying that Magnus (both Archives and Protocol) are some of my favorite audio shows of all time, probably bumped up to the number one spot and consistently staying there since I found Archives mid-season 3 back in 2017-2018. I understand that a small independent production growing over time from their success needs to reallocate resources and funds towards other projects and original shows to keep their steam going, especially since Magnus is their most profitable project and especially since RQ opened up into a podcast network that’s taking other popular audiodramas under its wing like woe.begone, Deviser, I Am In Eskew, Maeltopia, Malevolent, Old Gods of Appalachia, Penumbra, Silt Verses, etc. The liveshow is also a feat in and of itself, and I really do commend the RQ crew for being able to branch out as much as they have in the last years.

All that being said, the wait time for Protocol has kind of tested my patience a bit and the announcement of the biweekly release of the Protocol S2 Act 3 made me fully realize this. I know they’re trying to extend time so that S2 will last for a good chunk of the rest of the year, but that in and of itself irks me a little as someone that was waiting with baited breath throughout 2024’s release of S1. I don’t think Magnus has ever done a biweekly release before either, so it’s an adjustment that I feel was kinda dropped on us. It bothers me a little that I’ve been waiting for what feels like a full year to listen to the season’s last ten episodes of a show I love, only for the time to listen to those episodes to be extended even further, a 10-week trek into 4.5 months. I think I’ve actually lost some investment in the plot over time, and that’s as someone who practically carved the statements into the back of their head. Granted, this could also be because of how the last twoish years of my personal life have been extremely difficult, and the show actually started its hiatus right before one of the most stressful periods in my life. Probably a major player in why I feel like this to begin with, to be honest.

I don’t know, I know I might come off as whinging a little, but it’s how I feel I guess. Again, no hate at all to the RQ crew, I think I just have really bad hiatus fatigue and the news that I’ll have to go through a surprise 10 extra weeks of waittime leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Do any other listeners feel similar?

MAG 7: The Piper [fanart]

Years after first listening to TMA I finally painted a fanart of one of my favorite episodes! This is Wilfred Owen writing in the trench some time after first hearing the Piper's music. Hopefully this one will be the first of many!

The Burn Line by Jonathan Sims

So excited that I got my ARC of The Burn Line by Jonathan Sims today! I can’t wait to read it and review. I’m a career bookseller, and one of the funnest perks of the job is getting to request and read books early. I’ve already preordered copies for my store and I can’t wait to start selling them on the release date in August. If you’re excited about this book, I urge you to preorder if you can, or talk to your local library about ordering copies. Preorders are so important for authors because they help prove market demand, and they also help books to make bestseller lists. Happy reading!
