Caught on Video: The Final Magnetic Monorail Ticket Sold at Tokyo Disney

Looks like they’ve officially moved to QR code tickets only now. I came across a YouTube clip of someone buying what was apparently the last magnetic ticket ever today. Kind of a bittersweet moment, honestly. Feels like the end of an era!

Both parks with 18 y/o son- confused about HE

Hello there! My 18 year old son and I will be heading to the parks in late June- early July. I booked the Ambassador Hotel for check in on June 30th and planned on going to the parks on July 1st and 2nd. I was told nobody get HE on the day of check in, but now I’m finding conflicting info on different websites.

I know the Ambassador hotel is giving HE starting on July 1st. Will we get HE on July 1 & 2 or have I messed up? I was thinking of buying tickets for the late afternoon on June 30th, but wasn’t sure if it was worth it.

Is there a calendar that says which park has HE for each day or is it just whichever park I choose? DL, WDW, and DLP are familiar to me (AP holder for WDW for 5 year previously) but these parks are a different beast! Please help me out so I don’t disappoint my kid and myself! Any help/tips are greatly appreciated.

First TDR

Tokyo Disney first timer here. My boyfriend and Iare super fans and this is gonna be our first trip to Japan.

We really wanna try to do at least one of the parks twice but also have a full day for ourselves. I have read through all the guides here, but I still have some questions and things I would need some advice on.

First of all, I’m looking at the VP options and I see the max days for these are three days. Seems like adding an extra night and chaining it to an existing VP is a bit of a hassle and I think we’d rather book hotel separately but… what would I truly be missing out on here??

Seems like the biggest downfall would be not being able to book Premiere Access ahead of our vacation. But how much of a Hunger Games situation is it to get the PA for popular rides early in the morning?

Even if we have Happy Entry, is it still a pain in the butt to try and buy PA in the park?

Also, seems like the consense here is doing two days for DisneySea and 1 for Disneyland. Now; we take Disney seriously. We’re terminal Disney adults lol. Does 2 days for each park sound like overkill?

And, I know this aint like the WDW Disney bubble so having a ‘day at the resort’ might not be as exciting… but what would a chill day at a Disney hotel look like for you? I definitely would eanna try Chef Mickey if we stay at the Ambassador, but what other fun things other than Ikspiari?

I consider myself a WDW veteran but this is all so new, I would love anyone’s input!

Has some else though about that and made a sountrack in English to donlowd in youtube, apple, spotify? Of the disneyland sea Tokyo?

Plan recommendation

I am going to DisneySea this Thursday . It looks like it will be raining 100% and Frozen is closed for maintenance. I know that was the hardest ride to get DPA for.

Given this, would you guys recommend still lining up 2 hrs before opening? Could we go later and stay until nighttime and still ride most of the popular rides?

Having a day at Disney sea before heading back to HND—luggage storage?

Hi all, planning to spend my last day here at Disney sea. My flight leaves at 10:55pm and I am staying at Hilton Tokyo Bay. I’m planning to taxi to the airport. Which is better, leaving my luggage at the hotel and going to pick it up, or is there a luggage locker outside the park I can store it in and taxi directly from the park? Thank you in advance!

Mysterious Island Geyser Bubbles are Back!

Okay so I’d heard about these little “bubbles” in the water around Mysterious Island for ages but had literally never seen them myself 😅 Apparently they’re actually working again now (!!) so if you’re there keep an eye out and try to catch them!

Also throwing in a bonus video from 2001 when they first filled the water which is kinda wild to see.

Tokyo Disneyland, Thursday May 14 report

I went to Tokyo Disneyland yesterday and had a blast, so I figured I should share my experience while it’s all fresh in my mind. Solo trip with a regular ticket.

Forecast was sunny, but windy, with highs of 25 C with low possibility of rain in the evening. I decided not to bring a jacket with me and that was kind of a mistake (more on that later) but I think ultimately it didn’t matter. Crowd calendar was at B.

My goal was to get to the front gate 1 hour before Happy Entry started, for May 14 that was 7:45. I’m staying in the Ueno area so I took the Hibiya Line to Hatchobori Station to transfert to the Keiyo line. I ended up missing the Hibiya train and took the one 5 min later. It was super crowded and annoyingly half the riders got off one station before Hatchobori. Keiyo line was pretty calm and even had seats open. If using Hatchobori station make sur you exit the Hibiya Line gate on the right side otherwise you have to get top side to reach the Keiyo line. There are signs.

Ultimately I made it 5 minutes later than anticipated but it was fine, I had about only a dozen groups ahead of me in line. I like that you go through security before lining up for the gate, unlike DisneySea where I feel it gums up the entry. Weather was pretty easy to enjoy.

Got past the gate at like… 9:05. I hoofed it to the Haunted Mansion and bungled getting a 40th annoversary pass for Pooh. I don’t know how it happened or if I accidentally erased it by getting a Monsters Inc one later but I only realized my mistake when the pass had run out (and I only saw them again while I wasn’t allowed to get them, booh). Anyway, got on Haunted Mansion pretty easily, as I got there ai joined the group waiting for the Stretching Room.

Got out and had to update my credit card info to buy a DPA for Beauty and the Beasts, got a 3:10 one but earlier ones were still available. Met the Cheshire Cat by the exit of the Mansion and even got a picture with him! Awesome!

Thinking I had my Pooh pass my next goal was Roger Rabbit but I walked on to It’s a Groot Small World on the way since it was a 5 minutes wait. Adorable and I enjoyed trying to spot all the Disney and Marvel characters in the scenes! Got to Toontown and the queue was supposed to be 20 minutes but really it was more like 15.

A full hour and three rides down I felt peckish and I was planning to buy the souvenir cup from the Queen of Hearts Banquet hall so I figured I could get something simple and I ended up getting the flank steak which was probably stupid because I had a reservation to the Crystal Palace. I should have just gotten the minestrone. Anyway it was tasty and I have a souvenir for a friend. After realizing my mistake with Pooh and those passes being unavailable I got an Anniversary Pass for Monsters Inc, return time 4:15.

After that I walked by Splash Mountain, saw Pluto and the raccoon from Pocahontas, and then I figures I’d burn some of those new calories with the explorer canoes! Weather wasn’t at max heat yet and wait times were at 5 min. It was fun but the lady sat in front of me kept messing up my rhythm!

I had an hour left before my reservation so I went to Country Bear Jamboree, pretty empty, did some more minor shopping, stupidly got the Vaneloppe event Mango-Apple and Milk Swirl sundae (delicious though), walked by Jiminy Cricket and Pinocchio by the Home Goods store and finally I was ready for lunch.

Crystal Palace is a buffet restaurant and I kinda ate too much. Roast beef was good, the swordfish was good, karaage is hard to mess up, the black pastas with shrimp were good, the fried shrimp with tartar sauce were excellent, the curry rice gratin was great, and the best dessert were the Olaf mochi with lemon filling. I regretted getting the chocolate cake instead of more Olaf mochi. There was no mid day parade that day which sucks because I had a window seat and I could have watched that from there. I got the special drink and it was fine. I don’t think it’s essential.

It was almost 2 pm when I got off and had time to go before my 3:10 time at Beauty and the Beast. I went through World Bazaar to the Tomorrowland Side and walked on Star Tour! Always at 5 min wait. I had a BLAST so I went back in right away! Then I took the long walk around (because of Space Mountain construction) to head towards Beauty and the Beast. I sorta walked around that general area for 20 minutes.

Beauty and the Beast is an amazing ride and I have to say the videos do NOT do the ride justice. They’re clearly using stabilizing gear because the ride vehicles are way more dynamic than you’d think! Good spins, elegant dancing, all smooth movements. It was worth the 2000 ¥!

At this point it was roughly 3:30 and I figured I’d get a Fantasy Land dark ride in before heading BACK to the corner of the park with Monsters Inc. i really should have done those instead of Star Tour, not really efficient here on my part. Oops. Anyway, Snow White was at 20 minutes and this is the infamous ‘scary’ Snow White ride that’s basically unchanged since the 80’s. While in line I saw a bunch of characters come out: Cinderella, Prince Charming, two mouse girls, Wendy, Peter Pan, Alice and the Mad Hatter! Snow White was fun but we got stalled where the witch gives you the apple and later under the boulder by the ending! I got to take a Picture of Alice leaving (also realized Rapunzel was also there!) by the time I left.

Monsters Inc was a LOT of fun. It was great to look around all the mad cap scenes to find the hidden helmets! It went by SO fast! I had been told the seats were tight but I was comfortable enough. It think it was less of an issue than Journey at Disney Sea.

I did two more Star Tour rides and got some alien mochi at Pan Galactic Pizza Port. Also watched parts of the animatronic show on the second floor! Highly recommended.

By then the sun was dipping and it got really chilly. I regretted not bringing a jacket. Pooh was down to 50 minutes wait and decided to hunker down and do it! Turns out I only waited like 30 minutes to reach the boarding area. I was out of there in 40 minutes. Really charming ride… but we got stalled in the ‘Pooh trips out’ room and were stick starring at stars for like 2 minutes.

It was about 7 pm, the parade time was approaching, but it was getting cold and I was getting tired. I did some shopping and headed for the last ride I had on my bucket list: Jungle Cruise at night! It was a fun experience with twinkling stars, atmospheric lighting menacing glowing eyes in the jungle, the Skipper using a spotlight. The temple scene is cool.

In the end I would have liked to do the Western River Railroad and Big Thunder Mountain but I was beat and it probably would have been freezing. I also could have done the Tiki Room but I wanted to go home.

But not before grabbing a Creme Brulée churro at Parkside Wagon! Totally worth it was a short wait and super delicious. I caught some glimpses of the night parade and did some last minute shopping before heading out. Exiting before the end of the parade made for an easy ride on the Keiyo line.

I’m sore but I had a BLAST and did everything I really wanted to short of Big Thunder (and Pirate because it’s in refurb).

Disneyland Tokyo trip report 7 May - low key planning for excellent time

Just wanted to share this in thanks for the helpful tips we got on this sub. Me and my partner are not huge Disney fans but both went to Disney in Anaheim once with our parents when we were kids, so when Japan with under 10 kids was on the cards we thought we better do Disney.

Timing:

We picked the first day after golden week - crowd calendars indicated low crowds. We took advice to line up early and bring a picnic mat (100 yen from daiso).

We also went about a week into our Tokyo trip meaning we already had familiarity with snack options, travel, crowds, and crucially kids were used to walking a bit more.

Planning / priorities

We generally familiarized kids with what Disney rides and expectations. We tried to pick one must have ride each. We decided on 40th anniversary priority passes and a strategy for first ride, possible dinner and eating options and that was it. We prepped them for crowds and waiting times.

We also asked them if they wanted to see parades or shows and set expectations around everything being in japanese.

How the day went:

We got in at 8am, and kids spent most of an hour with activity books and snacks hanging out and people watching. On entry we got monsters inc ride and go seek 40th anniversary priority pass, then later got one for Thunder Mountain but that was it.

We opted out of DPAs, primarily as wait times barely exceeded 10 mins for pretty much everything, bar splash mountain (40 mins but worth the wait, especially with no queue all day for anything else) and our second poohs hunny hunt, which we did as our second to last ride.

Food queues were really short and mild (I think a 5 minute queue for popcorn was as long as it got).

All up we counted 22 rides done, including 4 repeat rides and everything we wanted covered bar Beauty and the Beast which was the only ride that had a queue over 90 minutes and the kids voted for splash mountain instead. We hopped off our last ride just in time for the night parade which we caught by Toontown and took two very tired kids back into Tokyo.

The kids had an absolute blast, and us adults did too, especially as our own Disney memories were of massive queues for very few rides.

We're really stoked for our family that we picked Disneyland over Disneysea for this trip - It entirely felt like how Disney should be!

DisneySea on Friday, May 15

Second time visiting DisneySea, and am happy to report that it continues to be one of if not the best theme parks in the world, though the crowds were kind of ridiculous.

My partner and I first visited the park in Feb 2024 aka pre-Fantasy springs, and spent most of that trip running around all the lands and the main ride attractions (took ~40K steps that day - big oof). This time around, we wanted to explore the new land and just vibe - maybe check out some rides that were closed our last trip, see a show or try a sit-down restaurant.

Jetlag was on our side and we arrived outside the park entrance ~6:45 AM, which got us into the park at 9:10. Most people brought a blanket to sit on while waiting, and we only had to stand for the last hour before opening - this was a nice change from 2024 when we also arrived a few hours early and stood the whole time. Weather was cloudy but the sun came out in force later, so our light jackets ended up being necessary sun protection.

First thing we aimed for was the Fantasy Springs area, specifically the Tangled ride (sadly the Frozen ride was closed for scheduled maintenance). We got there at 9:22, with a posted wait time of 20 minutes. Grateful we did this ride first thing because the wait later ballooned to 1.5-2 hours, and never really went down. We didn‘t rely too much on fastpasses/DPAs, but given the crowds, I would highly recommend it if possible. The ride itself was short and lovely - the lanterns took my breath away.

Aside from the ride lines, the Fantasy Springs area was not crowded in the morning and we took our time admiring the fountains, the hotel, and Elsa’s ice castle; Anna and Elsa were also near the Frozen ride chatting and taking photos. We had a lot of fun wandering around the area with Hook’s pirate ship. DisneySea theming is 10/10 - even the booth that sold garlic shrimp popcorn looked like something the Lost Boys would sail in.

The lines for the Peter Pan and Tinkerbell rides were ~40 minutes at this point with no signs of getting shorter, so we decided to walk to a ride that was closed last time - Sinbad. We liked it so much we rode it twice. Best of all, when we were there at 10:30-11 AM, it only had a 5 minute wait time!

While waiting in the post-security pre-entrance crush at 9 AM, I was glued to my phone and got a day-of Magellan’s reservation for 11:30. The normal set menu is 8000 yen and includes 4 courses - appetizer, soup/fish, a main, and a dessert as well as coffee/tea. We were seated under the huge globe and wandered around a little to peek into the side rooms and the secret bookcase door. Overall they really nailed the old world explorers club aesthetic. The food was also in line with fine dining - smaller portions and high quality. If you are looking for a splurge or a quiet/elegant place to eat, would recommend.

Another ride that wasn’t open our last trip was the trolley, which we happily rode from Port Discovery to the American Waterfront. We then walked toward the Venetian gondolas, but were told that because of the Jubilee celebration boat show, they would resume service at 4:40. With wait times between 2-4 hours for the major rides at this point, and given we snagged tickets to the 2:35 PM Dance the Globe show earlier in the day, we stuck around the waterfront and Toy Story areas to browse the shops and get some ice cream. Luckily a lot of characters were out and about in these areas - we ended up seeing Donald, Scrooge, Daisy, Pluto, Marie, Clarice and the green army men in the span of about 20 minutes (~1:25-1:45).

The Dance the Globe show was a lot of fun, and the dancers really brought their all. The 25th Jubilee song is also extremely catchy. If you also end up going on a sunny day, be aware that there is no shade and you are not allowed to have umbrellas open during the show, so you and everyone else will be slowly roasting for ~25 minutes. Was feeling pretty tired by this point, but earlier we had gotten a DPA for Journey to the Center of the Earth, which was a welcome respite from the heat and one of the best rides in the park. It ended up being ~30 minute wait with the pass.

Spent our last moments admiring the Mysterious Island area, pressing a medallion with Chandu on it, and heading out with some new, wonderful memories.

P.S. Last time we visited the wait times were high but not as high as they were this time around, which of course could be due to any number of factors. Part of me wonders if overall wait times would differ if Frozen and Indiana Jones were in operation (Journey to the Center of the Earth was also closed for an hour in the afternoon), though I’m sure the time of year/day of the week, or changes to the park since then (Fantasy Springs, the Jubilee celebrations, etc.) have a significant impact - ultimately it’s a testimony to how much people want to go here ❤️

Visited Tokyo Disneyland 5/14!

We had a wonderful time. We arrived around 7:45am, got past security and waited in the line for gate entry. It really does move fast once the gates open at 9am. I was in charge of securing DPA and 40th APP for my entire group. We got to ride 10 rides before 3:30pm! We did not stay longer as our party included a 4 and 5 year old and they were getting pretty tired, otherwise I think we could have definitely fit in more rides before the end of the day.

Monsters Inc (rope dropped)
Alice’s Tea Cups
Beauty and the Beast (DPA)
Pooh’s Hunny Hunt (APP)
Baymax (DPA)
Star Tours
It’s a small world
Haunted mansion (APP)
Splash mountain (DPA)

It felt like APP passes sold out for most rides by 11:30am? so I definitely do support getting to the parks early to try to catch as many APP rides as possible.

We ended our day with a meal at Center Street Coffeehouse with Baymax curry!

Places to with stamps?

We have two kids who are collecting eki stamps (and any other stamps we find) in little stamp books. It looks like the hotels have stamps, but I haven't been able to find if there are places in the park that might have stamps also? If anyone has any suggestions for stamps, we'd love to know.

Thanks so much!

October 2026 Vacation Package booking opens May 19th 2026, 3pm JST

October 2026 Vacation Packages open for booking next week, May 19th 2026, at 3pm JST.

Source: https://reserve.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/news/detail/2754/?pagingNo=1

Happy Entry & Hotel Selection Reminder: Please remember that for October 2026, only Hotel MiraCosta and Fantasy Springs Hotel guests will get Happy Entry to DisneySea, so take that into consideration when choosing your VP hotel. Also remember, while all hotels provide Happy Entry to Disneyland, as there is no Happy Entry for day of check-in, so the only Vacation Package that can take advantage of Disneyland Happy Entry is the 2 Night 2 Park Days (Park ticket second and third day) package.

Key summary

All 5 of the Vacation Packages that were on sale for September 2026 will be available for booking for October 2026.

Disney Halloween / Lazos de la Familia

Disney Halloween this year run from September 16 through October 31, 2026. Lazos de la Familia (with a Coco connection) will run in DisneySea for the same period until November 2.

Closure alert

Before you book, always check the official closure list (https://www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/tdl/monthly/stop.html) to see if your favourite ride, parade or show will be down for maintenance before making your decisions.

At Disneyland, the Cinderella’s Fairy Tale Hall castle walkthrough closes from 2026/10/1 indefinitely.  At DisneySea, Tower of Terror will commence its 1 month+ closure starting 9/28 and won’t reopen until 11/5. Also, despite some speculation that Indiana Jones might reopen sometime in 2026 (because it is coming close to a full year of closure by September 2026, no announcement has been made at this stage). Some examples of closures are below (these are not exhaustive:

  • Indiana Jones - 2025/8/18 - TBD [TDS]
  • Cinderella’s Fairy Tale Hall - 2026/10/1 - TBD [TDL]
  • The Enchanted Tiki Room - 2026/9/24 - 2026/10/23 [TDL]
  • Tower of Terror - 2026/9/28 - 2026/11/5 [TDS]
  • Electrical Parade - 2026/10/2 [TDL]
  • Sky Full of Colours Fireworks - 2016/10/2 [Both parks]

VP Chaining 101 (i.e. if 2 nights just isn't enough)

The 2N2D packages are great "Swiss army knife" packages that enables chaining of Vacation Packages together to enable longer packages.

You can book them in front (Ticket on Day 1 and Day 2 type) or behind (Ticket on Day 2 and Day 3 type) any other VP - even itself - to create a longer packaged vacation. For example, Unlimited VP + 2N2D (Ticket on Day 2 and Day 3) = 3 night 4 days vacation (TDL/TDS/TDL/TDS), or 2N3D + 2N2D = 4 night 5 days vacation (TDL/TDS/TDS/TDL/TDS). While technically they remain two separate package reservations, if you are careful to book the exact same room type/specification, it is almost like you had a longer package (just contact TDR to put a note informally linking them after booking).

Booking tips: Can I just set an alarm and go to the site at 3pm JST?

Not really! There is a queue system that is implemented when website traffic picks up. If you start at 3pm you might not get through until hours later. The TDR IT is also very bad when it is under load. See here for some tips: https://www.reddit.com/r/TokyoDisneySea/s/V6EylAKvM3

I manage to book the same room type as a standalone hotel room booking (before or after) my Vacation Package.  How do I notify the hotel to avoid changing rooms?

Once you have made all the reservations, use the official hotel online form (and under "Type of Inquiry" choose "Request to link multiple stays with different reservation numbers and assign them to the same room"), so you don't have to change rooms. The bookings will remain separate. Your VP remains pre-paid and has different cancellation policies and deadlines compared to your hotel bookings (which is deposit only and remainder payable upon check-in).

IMPORTANT: Just double check to make sure you book rooms that has the identical room type/room name/floor range (if applicable), number of beds and room size (in m2) as otherwise it would result in a room change.

Under the “unlimited rides on eligible attractions” package, the description says “Enjoy churros, popcorn, or frozen dessert as much as you like!”  Do I get all of those in my package?

No, unfortunately! The operative word there is the “or”. Your entire party must choose just one type of snack ticket.  That is, either churros, or popcorn or frozen packaged desserts.  If you choose churros then you will not have any popcorn.  Everyone in your party will have the same ticket type and you cannot mix-and-match.  Not all snack ticket type is offered at all times (except during winter months there will not be any frozen dessert option).  See also this post here.

How are Vacation Package costs calculated, how the Beverage Ticket works, and are meals pre-paid?

See this post here.

Do I get popcorn or popcorn bucket with the Vacation Package?

See this post here.

Do I get Happy Entry (early entry) with a Vacation Package?

Not necessarily. It depends on which hotel you are booking as part of the package.

Gray Sparkling Jubilee hoodie sold out; any hope for new stock?

I was at DisneySea two days ago, and when I asked about the gray Sparkling Jubilee hoodie, was told it was sold out everywhere. 😭

Is there likely to be any new stock for these within the next couple of weeks?

I'm on holiday in Japan, and DisneySea was my first ever Disney theme park; this hoodie was the one souvenir I was really keen to get. Is there any hope, or is it gone for good?

PS: I'm open to going back into the park if necessary!

Tokyo Disneysea shops

Does anyone know what stores this top is likely to be in?

I want to narrow it down as someone is going on my behalf and they hate shopping. They’ll will be in the Tokyo disneysea park for a day and I’m not certain if it’s just figaro’s or emporio that are likely to stock it. Any help is appreciated

Is riding Tower of Terror worth it for trade off of going on the weekend?

Hi! I’m going to Tokyo in September and I was originally going to go on a Tuesday or Wednesday in hopes of it being less crowded. HOWEVER, I saw that Tower of Terror is closing on 9/28 for refurbishments :( That means Sunday 9/27 is the only day I could go and still ride it. Is this ride worth it for a possibly busier day?

Evacuated off of Frozen twice in one day!

As the title says, we were at Disneysea yesterday May 9th. Considering the wait time, we decided to do Anna & Elsa's Frozen Adventure first. After having waited over three hours we finally got onto the ride just after 1pm, only for the music to cut out in the middle of let it go and the boat to stall before the announcement came that the ride broke down. It took about fifteen minutes before we were evacuated off, walking past Elsa's ice dress which we didn't get to see in action 😭. We were given a fast pass for the trouble which we decided to save in case of the ride opening again.

It took about three hours when the ride opened again around 4.45pm but only for those with priority access. We decided to take the chance and hopped back in. This time we didn't even get as far as the first time when the music cut out again 😭😭 what are the damn odds??? We were evacuated off again, thankfully within fifteen minutes as well. We got another fast pass but decided not to test fate a third time and used it for soaring instead.

I'd never been evacuated before and now twice in one day! It surely was an experience 😂
