Might shave my hair to wear wigs

I wear wigs a lot. So much that that I wear them majority of the year. Recently I’ve been thinking of shaving my hair to make wearing them flatter and easier to wear. I also have a company where I make content with a product I’ve designed to help install wigs. would it be crazy if I shave my hair just to wear wigs?

In tears over finding a wedding wig

I've been wearing synthetic wigs for hair loss since my late 20s. I'm getting married soon and I'm getting desperate trying to find the right wig for my wedding day. My HMUA says that I need a human hair wig professionally installed in order to achieve the updo style I want. I have not been able to find anything within my budget (under $1000) that even vaguely blends in with my very fair skin. I've paid hundreds to have professionals customize the lace and bleach the knots, and nothing has worked.

Does anyone have any suggestions for wigs with lace suitable for very white skin? My go-to wig is the synthetic "Heidi" by Jon Renau in color Shaded Peach (medium natural red with highlights), and I'd like something as similar to that color as possible.

All of my Milano wigs turn brassy what can I do??

Every time I get a Milano wig and spend $$$$ after 11 months they get brassy. I’m taking this one to a hairstylist on Wednesday to see if it can be dyed he is worried it may not pick up the color. What should I do? Has this happened to anyone else???

Replacing Hair Appointment with Wig?

I’m going grey at 45. Well, it started before 45. My Dad and grandmother were Snow White by 50 and had gorgeous hair. I have Hashimoto’s and I do not have that luxurious hair. I have my hair cut and coloured every 6 weeks and it’s about $160-170 in my HCOL in MA. Work full time and have a 4yo, so there’s also a convenience factor here, too.

Has anyone just said sod it and invested in wigs and skipped the salon altogether? I was just looking at Cami Hair and one wig is half the cost of a year getting my hair cut and coloured every six weeks. Thinking it might be worth experimenting with when the new school year begins (my brain is wired that way and I work in higher ed). Any thoughts or suggestions or experiences, I’d love to hear them!

How do I make this wig look good?

It looks like a wig, not natural. Not sure if I need to pluck the hairline or part or what. Also the hair above my ears shows and i regularly have this issue.

How do I get rid of shine on a wig?

I tried dry shampoo and it didn’t do anything. So then I tried a little hairspray and then dry shampoo and eventually it did do something. But now it has this kind of white overcast (wig is copper).

Is there a specific dry shampoo that is working for you guys? I tried one by Living Proof and one by Dove. Neither was noticeably better for this.

Any other hacks Im missing?

Large cap wigs in blonde shades

Hey everyone,

I'm on the hunt for some blonde wigs, but I need some serious help finding options that fit a larger head circumference. My head measures between 24.5" and 25.2", so standard "large" caps (which often top out at 23") are unfortunately too small.

I would love to get your recommendations for brands, specific lines, or custom sellers that cater to true XL/extended cap sizes.

What I'm looking for:

Cap Size: XL / Extended Large (fits 24.5" - 25.2" circumference)

Color: Any shade of blonde! (Platinum, ash, honey, dimensional blondes with darker roots, etc.)

Type: Open to synthetic, human hair, lace fronts. Preferably straight styles.

If you also have a larger head circumference and have found a blonde wig that actually fits comfortably without riding up, please drop the brand, style name, or seller below!

Hairvivi questions: Glasses friendly? Tuck behind the ears? Do well in a ponytail or bun? Can they support bangs?

Trying to ease my way into wig life with something relatively affordable. Hairvivi has some options that work for me (I like the Juliet, if anyone's tried that one). But as I think through what kind of look I want to commit to, I'm curious if their wigs can let me do any of the following:

  1. Tuck my hair behind my ears
  2. Cut baby bangs/Bettie Page bangs if I decide I don't like the hairline (what can I say, I'm a 90's alt kid)
  3. Convincingly wear it in a ponytail or bun if I leave it long (prefer high but low is acceptable)
  4. Cut it into a soft shaggy bob/bixie without exposing the cap if I decide to mimic my short bio hair

Non-negotiable: I wear glasses, so I need to make sure the arms don't poke into the cap or expose it.

I'll also take recs for other wigs that might be better for these preferences, though my budget is below $750 max. (Prefer human hair.)

Frickin' obsessed with this wig!

I love this wig SO MUCH! I've been wanting to share for a while (since 22 of June) but I haven't had the time to actually put on something comforting, including makeup, but now I do! I'm still making personal adjustments, my hearing aids pull my ears down some time after adjusting, but it's not a big concern of mine!

I get compliments on this hair, I got asked out recently, too! 🤣 I haven't regretted going bald! Showers are easier, I can eat comfortably at home without having hair in the way (even with headbands and whatnot), I love that I can style my wig seperately! I hate styling my hair without being able to tear off my scalp and see what the heck I'm doing behind my head. I'm too lazy to learn how to do it, but this wig is a win-win all around!

I’m looking at these wigs from Tresses by Jules and Highline. Does anyone have experience w these brands or recs about a loved HH wig brand?

Does anyone have experience with Highline wigs or Tresses by Jules wig brands? Or if you have other hh brands you rec over these please share! I’ve tried Hair Vivi which was wasted $! I looked cartoonish in it. There were return hairs galore and the hair itself was very coarse) & Prairie Fire Hair is too heavy/ dense on top. My natural hair is (was!) fine and medium to low density. I’m actually having better luck with the look of my synthetics as far as the look of than any of those but they all tangle constantly so are impractical for daily wear. Any advice you have will be greatly appreciated! I’m including pics of the ones I’m considering buying, but these prices, even though they may be worth the $ are a major stretch for me, but since my my own hair is almost gone I will do it. I do want to make sure that it’s at least money well spent!

I paid $2k for a human hair topper. I'm supremely disappointed.

It doesn't match my red hair and looks brown, it was permed and doesn't match my hair texture/wave, and it looks/feels fried and dry. I have an appointment soon to see if the salon I went to can fix it, but I'm feeling super discouraged and like I just threw thousands of dollars away for nothing. I've been crying all morning and just hate myself even more right now.

I don’t know who to purchase from for the most natural looking hairline.

I have lost a big chunk of my hair this year due to some health and bleaching issues and I’m desperate to feel like myself again. I am constantly in front of the camera so this has enormously affected my self esteem. I have been looking at Tresses by Jules, Cami Wigs, Wigs by Tiff and Eniola Hair. I have no idea what to do and how to choose. I have already wasted almost 1000 on a really bad wig with a lace that doesn’t match my skin and with a terrible cap that is definitely too big for me because I was anxious and bought it without thinking too much at the store. I just want to pick the best so please any advice and personal experience is more than welcome!

Edit: I’m looking for a GLUELESS pearl blonde wig, ideally boob length. I’m based in Europe.

Questions about glue for upcoming trip

I’m going to a theme park next week and I’m so anxious, it literally would be the end of the world if I lost my wig im being so honest…

anyway, I’m looking to order some wig glue and was wondering which one would be best? I’ve never used glue, only tape, im not even sure if you can use glue on the type of wig I wear, but I’ll attach a photo.

I’m not really sure how to apply either. I just need it to hold, I wasn’t going to go on anything crazy but fast rides and tight turns etc.

I’m just scared using a glue would ruin my wig or something, and also do I need to be skin bald? I’m currently buzzed but can make myself skin bald if needed.

sorry for all the questions, I’m just really panicking and also feeling kinda shit about how my hair situation is so different to my peers and wishing I could do something without constantly accounting for it for once 🥲

My new wig!! What do you think? Do I suit blonde?

I bought this wig because my natural hair really sucks... I always wanted to try being blonde and I love it!! But I'm also only used to seeing myself with black/dark brown hair so kind of want the opinion of people who have never seen me before haha😂

Hairvivi return policy confusion

Hey-

On hairvivi’s website they make two claims about their return policy that are contradictory. One advertises that there’s a 30-day try on period, and the other advertises that the wigs must be unworn. Has anyone bought a wig from hairvivi, tried it on within the 30 day period, and returned it because you didn’t like it/how it looked/fit?

Been looking around at sales during the 4th and got an email from Camis Wigs about hers, and are they some deals 👀👀as I’ve never purchased from her before I was wondering if anyone who has could share their experiences and what their caps are like and hairlines (: esp any brunette or browns as that’s what I would be getting

4x4 black closure wig with 3 bundles raw Indian hair ->copper colored

I really love wigs after I dyed and fried my hair 2 years ago. My bio hair has grown back but I have fine hair. I love the fullness and colors that a wig can give me without messing with my natural hair (extensions, hair dye, etc…). I recently dyed this wig. The process took 3 days. I initially was looking for a level 9 blonde. I did highlights on my hair with bleach and a 20 volume developer. I let it sit for 30 minutes then washed it out and did another round of that the next day. I should have stopped there. The hair was a honey blonde, but I wanted level 9 highlights and a “money piece” around the bangs area. The I again went in with the bleach and after about 15 minutes washed it out. The hair on the closure was burning off! The bundles were fine because it was better quality and raw hair rather than the virgin hair on the closure. Even though the highlights were burned off, it was mostly on the crown and the fullness was able to compensate for the burnt pieces. So it was salvageable. Instead of going for “blonder”, I decided to make it copper. I am actually very happy with it now. Had a close call and I MAY still replace the closure, but for now I am very pleased.🙏
