Bronde/Light brown/Dark Blonde, hand tied, human hair wigs?

I purchased a wig from Goldylost in August of this year because my bio hair is what I would consider light brown (but a lot of people have told me is actually dark blonde). It was super difficult to find anything that looked like it would match, but Goldylost had a few bronde shades so I decided to try it. I have had countless issues with it. It came curled, so I didn't notice the insane length discrepancies until I wet the wig down and saw the hair straight for the first time. The color of the wig ended up being way off from the photos in the listing (click here to see what I received vs the photo for the listing I purchased). Its like a straw colored yellow blonde, not the "mousy stretched root melting into beige, creamy light ends" that the listing described.

To make matters worse, I only wear my wig twice a week and I got it mid August. The lace is unraveling and the hairline is shedding due to how close Goldylost cut the lace. I don't think its fixable. The measurements are supposedly 20.5 - 21.5" circumference, 13" front to nape, and 12.6" ear to ear. My measurements are 21.5", 13", and 12.5", so I was expecting this to be a near perfect fit. It is so tight it leaves marks and indents on my forehead and it is even a struggle to get it on my 21" wig stand due to how small it is.

That being said, I don't think this wig is going to last much longer. I'd like to plan for a replacement, especially because it seems like a lot of wigs have to be preordered nowadays, and I don't want to order from a company that this sub isn't super familiar with. I prefer hand tied so it is lighter weight and I have more styling freedom. I don't have a budget as long as I don't end up spending nearly $3,000 on another wig that won't last more than a few months. I am located in the US. Anywhere from 16"-20" is fine. I will bring a longer wig to a hairdresser if the color is good :)

Added to this post is my inspo along with some photos of my bio hair in different lighting. TY!

Sacheu peel off lip stain in “low key”

Anyone have any recommendations for another stain that’s a similar color? The color is a perfect MLBB shade but I just don’t love the fact that I have to wait for it to dry and peel it off. I want something I can throw on and go

Several times a week I convince myself I’m not olive because my iPhone turns my skin hot pink… then I use my iPad and see what I see in the mirror.

Gotta love technology!

My appellate brief disappeared and no one can locate it.

I just want to complain. I’ve been working on a brief for weeks and when I opened the document this morning, all that was left was the original outline I typed out and a paragraph or two in the statement of the case. I lost two full argument sections. I was on the phone with our tech help all morning and they can’t locate it anywhere, said it can’t be recovered, and said they’ve only seen this happen one other time.

I can’t decide if I want to cry or scream.

Update:

I spoke with the managing partner, who I’m drafting the brief for this morning. I spent the whole weekend anxious about this because apparently, this is the plot to the movie Philadelphia and I was worried he wouldn’t believe me (which is a silly concern in hindsight because extensions are literally always granted in my jurisdiction and I can’t think of another reason why someone would make this up other than to get more time to work on their brief). I can still bill all my time for it so I don’t need to worry about my yearly billing requirement, but it’s going to be billed to one of our administrative codes instead of the client.

We switched computer systems and file management services while I was studying for the bar, so it turns out my computer was missing some of the software that everyone else had on their computer (like OneDrive) because it was manually set up by everyone during a firm wide training while I was out.

Is this acceptable for a $2,750 wig?

I apologize for the long post, but I need to vent. The TLDR of this is that I paid for a 16" wig that I think is defective and the company disagrees.

For context, I have lupus and go through periods of severe hair loss. It doesn't grow back. I used to wear toppers because the hair loss was mostly on the top of my head and I honestly like the color of my bio hair, so I didn't want to fully cover it. In December of 2025, my health insurance decided to no longer cover the medication I've been on since 2013. I would estimate that I lost 75% of my remaining hair while fighting with them to cover my medication. My condition came out of remission during this time and my hair loss has just continued to worsen. In June of this year, I got in the shower and massive clumps fell out and covered the shower floor. It was traumatizing and so scary.

I knew I needed to switch to wigs at that point. I spent the remainder of June and all of July searching for a human hair wig in my budget that resembled my bio hair. My coworkers don't know about my chronic illnesses or my hair loss, and I don't want them to know. It was important to me that I find a wig that wasn't a noticable change from my topper because I didn't want to draw a ton of attention to my hair.

I ended up purchasing a 16" fully hand tied wig from Goldylost wigs. I thought this was the best option for me based on all of the videos I had watched of their wigs. It arrived on August 4 and was styled with loose waves. The first thing I noticed was that it was significantly lighter and warmer than the photo and video of the wig I purchased. I was disappointed, but when I ordered the wig I asked Goldylost to cut the lace for me which made it non-refundable. I was so scared that I was going to ruin an expensive wig by cutting the lace wrong, so I thought this was the best option.

The second thing I noticed was how uncomfortable the wig was. I ordered a size small which has a circumference of 20.5-21.5”, 13” hairline to nape, and 12.6” ear to ear. My measurements are 21.5”, 13”, and 12.5”, so I was expecting this to fit perfectly. It does not. I have to wear the wig quite a bit lower than my natural hairline to make it fit, and the cap pushes my ears forward while wearing it.

This weekend, I decided I was going to change the part slightly. I wet the entire wig down and when I looked at the ends, my heart dropped. There is a significant variation in the ends of the hair, with the front pieces being significantly longer than the back, uneven, and on one side there is actually a pretty large gap where the hair is only 12-13" long. I realized I couldn't wear the wig straight without cutting it. The more I looked at it, the more disappointed I became.

I reached out to Goldylost with a number of photos and asked them whether this met their quality standards. In response, they said:

>All of our wigs are cut with soft layers to create a more natural look, rather than a heavy blunt cut, unless a customer specifically requests a custom order with no layers. Because of this, it's normal for the front pieces to be slightly longer and for the ends to have some variation.

They told me that I could ship the wig back to Australia (I live in the US) and they would “inspect it in person” to determine whether it needs “a light trim.”

I responded to their email today stating that I don't think this is an acceptable resolution. It would leave me wigless, and switching from wig to topper to wig several times would out my chronic illness to my coworkers. I suggested a partial refund to account for the length discrepancy and the cost to have this professionally cut. Unfortunately there is a 14 hour time difference, so I probably won't know their response to this until tomorrow morning.

This wig was $751 over my budget but I purchased from them anyways because I wanted something comfortable, high quality, that matched my hair as much as possible, and that would last me a long time. For almost $3,000, I think a wig should be perfect straight out of the box.

Am I being unreasonable? Is this an acceptable amount of "variation?"

How do I protect my wig on a boat ride + all day outdoor excursion?

Well its finally happening... Every summer, my work goes on a trip to a nearby island. We take a boat and then eat outside at a restaurant/walk around the island. We don't cancel unless the weather is bad enough that we can't make the trip out there.

Thus far, I've managed to have an excuse not to go, whether thats classes, an appointment, etc., but I don't see how I'm going to get out of it this time around. I wear a 14 inch glueless, hand tied human hair wig. It doesn't really go up well. I have never worn a hat in my life outside of t-ball as a kindergartener but I'd be willing to try it if that's my best option. TY!

Anyone keep an ASF with female mice?

I have two massive female mice. I don’t know how it happened. I got them from a local pet store and they are at least twice the size of my other mice and are almost hamster sized. They’re bigger than any of the show mice I’ve ever had. I was considering getting them a friend or two instead of merging them in with my other mouse colony because the larger group is full of some very itty bitty mice and the size difference is just incredible.

I know you can keep a male mouse with female ASFs, but can you keep females with females? My Google search says yes - but ever since internet search engines have added AI features I swear I don’t get as many relevant results.

Who makes the best wig-friendly purple shampoo?

I just received a wig in the mail and it ended up being significantly warmer than it looked in the product photos. I’m trying to match my bio hair as much as possible, which is a dark, very ashy blonde. I’ve used purple shampoos on wigs in the past, but never a brand new wig and never one that cost this much, so I am scared I’m going to ruin my new hair somehow.

Any recommendations? I’m in the US.

Also - when you use purple shampoo, do you usually dunk the hair in a mixture of water + shampoo or go straight on the hair? In the past I’ve just washed the hair with the shampoo like I would my actual hair but the company I purchased the wig from recommends the dipping method. Is there any chance I’ll stain the lace using either method?

Ty for any recommendations!

Eta: human hair, it’s about a level 8.5 or 7 golden blonde root with lighter, also gold ends. My bio hair is an ashy 7 or 6.5

(Rant) why does every company color match me to a level 4 even when I tell them I’ve tried it before and it is several shades too dark?

I have light brown hair, I use blonde eyebrow products, and blue shampoo turns my hair green. I’ve gone through so many toppers and wigs trying to replicate my bio hair, and every shade of brown I’ve tried is too dark and usually too warm, and every shade of blonde I’ve tried is too light. Level 7 hair dye is darker than my bio hair. For this reason I usually buy a blonde topper and dye it with 3 parts level 8a hair dye to one part level 7a and it ends up being a pretty spot on match to my hair. I’ve reached out to several companies this week explaining that level 4 is too dark, that my hairdresser told me I have level 7 hair, and providing multiple photos of my hair and they keep recommending level 4 shades. Even when I explain that I want something on the cusp of brown and blonde, every single one of them has recommended a level 4 at the lightest. I just want help matching my bio hair and to not have to recolor my topper or wig every time I shampoo. I swear wig companies see a brunette and don’t even bother reading my reply or looking at the comparison photos I send them. They just recommend whatever shade their level 4 is 🥲

Can anyone recommend a thin velvety wig grip?

Recently I have been seeing wider wig grips like this on my Tiktok FYP. I’m finally at a point in my hair loss journey where I’m ready to switch from toppers to wigs, and I’m interested in trying another wig grip. I’ve tried a velvet wig grip in the past, but it was really thick so it didn’t look good.

Can anyone recommend a wig grip? Also should I order one that’s closest to the color of my bio hair, my scalp, or the color of my wig?

Will a vet be able to determine whats going on with very few noticeable symptoms?

My 4 or 5 month old mouse started acting different a few days ago, although I can't pinpoint what might be going on. She went from being very active to not constantly trying to get our attention or trying to get us to pick her up when we walk near the cage. She seems to be eating and drinking fine, the only symptom other than the behavioral changes is that she has been squinting her eyes, but she isn't sneezing, clicking, there's no discharge, no bloating, and no changes in bathroom habits as far as I can tell. Her cage isn't dusty and the temperature in the house has been about the same as usual. I'd like to get her checked out at by the vet because my gut is that something is wrong. Will a vet be able to tell from examining her what might be going on? The only reason I am hesitant to take her is is that we're currently having a heatwave in my part of the US and I'm worried about the stress of bringing her to the vet + the heat if they won't have anything to go off to diagnose her :(

Eta: the only appointment available is on the hottest day of the week, in the high 80’s on the drive over and mid 90’s on the drive home.

Mourning the loss of Pistachio Glaze, trying to find a specific note

I feel like I’ve tried just about every pistachio perfume on the market, and I’m just not finding anything close. Demeter Pistachio Ice Cream might be the closest, but it’s more of a pure pistachio scent (specifically it smells to me like how almond extract tastes). It’s missing the vanilla and something else that Pistachio Glaze has.

There’s an airiness to PG after the initial spray and I’m confident I’ve smelled it in another BBW scent, but I can’t think of what it was. I’m hoping I can get a similar scent by layering whatever that spray was with either Toasted Pistachio or Demeter.

I know this is kinda a vague and niche request but I’m hoping someone knows what I’m talking about. It was another light, airy, sweet body spray. It was probably available within the last 5 years and may still be available. I think it also had vanilla in it. I’ve been racking my brain trying to remember what it is!

Two elderly babies fell asleep on my lap yesterday.

My very old girls, Daisy and Hazel. Daisy lived with two disabled mice her whole life in a smaller handicap accessible cage, whereas Hazel has always lived in my bigger colony. They’re about the same age (over 2) but they met a month or two ago after Daisy’s friends passed away and my main colony became too small for their cage. They were instant friends and have been doing what we call “old lady stuff” together since day one. Recently old lady stuff has evolved to include these two mice scaling up my arm like spiderman to get some cuddles. Last night they napped for about 15 minutes until Daisy decided it was time to use my body like a jungle gym. Other old lady activities include being doted on by the younger mice, sorting pieces of bedding into correct piles (I have no clue what the separate piles are for, but they seem to know), minor demolition, sharing snacks, and a lot of cuddling. I’ve had quite a few old mice in my time, but its always just one at a time. It sure is nice having *two* mice enjoying their retirement ages together.

Thinking about making the switch from toppers to wigs. Anyone tried Uniwigs?

I have been wearing closed lace toppers for about a year now. I have a medical condition and my hair loss seems to be getting worse by the day. I don’t think the toppers are contributing at all, but I am thinking about switching from toppers to wigs just in case.

I recently purchased a Breeze topper from uniwigs and realized that it may not be enough hair for my current hair loss, so I have the option to either return it and pay a restocking fee or return it for store credit. I was looking at the Isabella wig, but I’ve tried their lace front hair toppers in the past and the lace was so delicate I could not get it to stick to my skin no matter what I tried. Has anyone tried a human hair wig from them?

In the past, I’ve tried a wig from Silk or Lace and I found it really uncomfortable, so I’m a little weary about trying a wig again. I do have cervical spine problems and occipital headaches and pressure on certain spots of my head can cause me pain.

I’m open to other suggestions if anyone has any!

Everyone is pregnant and about to burst post-update

Anyone else notice this? Every time my sim travels to a location, 3-4 pregnant sims show up while in labor. When I open the small business? Several pregnant sims in labor. On a date? Multiple sims in labor nearby.

Star and Jane Addam showed up at the spice festival both fully pregnant, in labor, and both doing the pre-parental panic dance. I don't know if it's the update, a weird mod glitch, or just a coincidence but its kinda cracking me up.
