(Kinda) Followed Today, Criticism on Form

Feeling discouraged. I was doing dumbbell hammer curls, 15 pounds. This older guy comes up right next to me, sets 10 pound dumbbells next to me and proceeds to tell me that I’m doing my sets wrong and that I need to drop the weight, and tries to demonstrate how to do the hammer curls the right way. Fine. I thank him, and even ask him to redo the demonstration so I can understand. The hammer curls looked a bit off when he was doing them, but since I’m not an expert, I still chose to take a listen to what he was trying to say.

I go over to the lat pulldown machine a bit later, and start work there. The same guy comes up and leans against the machine, and tells me I’m doing this wrong as well. He gestures on how to do it and keeps persisting on staying there until I do it the “right way” and kept saying that I was doing it wrong. I should also point out that he’s in a group, and one of his friends kept looking back and laughing, and that one of the other men in the group appeared to spot me on the machine, and signaled the guy to come over and speak to me. At this point, I felt embarrassed and agitated so I had to step away to compose myself.

I personally don’t like feeling watched, and feel bothered that he refused to leave me alone to do my set after I said no multiple times. Has anyone faced this type of criticism before? How do you deal with this?
