Adriance House - 12 Containers 4,000 sqft Beautiful Shipping Container Home, Maine

The Adriance House in Maine reimagines the possibilities of shipping container construction through bold architecture and thoughtful design. Created by architect Adam Kalkin using twelve recycled cargo containers, the home combines industrial materials with expansive glass interiors, open communal spaces, and strong connections to the surrounding landscape. Its striking appearance and innovative layout have made it one of the most recognized container homes ever built.

At the heart of the project is a philosophy of transformation — turning ordinary industrial containers into a refined and highly livable residence. The house balances sustainability with luxury, preserving the raw character of steel containers while introducing warmth through natural materials, sunlight, and custom details. The result is a modern architectural landmark that challenges traditional ideas about what a home can be.

RD Nehvízdky, Central Bohemia by 2MAD

RD Nehvízdky, Central Bohemia by 2MAD

Following a recommendation, the client asked us to furnish a sample semi-detached house to a higher and medium standard to demonstrate the utility of the space and design. We also focused on the connection between the garden and the house, including a terrace with a swimming pool and a movable terrace. The concept of the house is simple: a white cube with a set-back terrace, a green roof and ample glazing. The higher light heights give the space a stunning effect. The heating and cooling system by Infraclima is an interesting feature of this realisation. The interior is simple and clean with maximum storage space. The main features are the wooden flooring, dark matt finishes on most of the furniture and the vibrant green wall that dominates the living area.

Exploring a sail structure to cover the historic dry docks at the Arsenale di Venezia — part of a larger project on shipbuilding culture in Venice

These are three early explorations toward covering the bacini — Venice’s historic dry docks. The idea was to find a structural logic rooted in shipbuilding itself. A sail covering what once built sails.
Part of a larger project called Redivivus, imagining the restitution of craft and boat-building culture at the Arsenale as a way to reform Venice’s economy and reduce tourism dependence.
Happy to talk about the project if anyone is interested.
