Bathroom in 40 ft Shipping Container Home, Brazil

Despite the home's compact footprint, the bathroom is designed to feel surprisingly open and refined. Instead of using traditional solid partitions, the architect incorporated glass walls that reduce visual weight and help preserve the sense of spaciousness throughout the interior. A translucent film applied to the glass provides privacy while still allowing light to pass through, creating a brighter and more inviting atmosphere. The bathroom continues the home's cohesive design language with warm ipe wood surfaces and carefully integrated LED lighting, demonstrating how thoughtful material choices can make even a small space feel comfortable, elegant, and functional.

1200 sq ft Shipping Container Home in North Branch, New York

Completed in 2011, the North Branch shipping container home demonstrates how modular construction can create a comfortable full-time residence without sacrificing architectural interest. Using four repurposed shipping containers arranged across two levels, the project delivers two bedrooms and two bathrooms within a relatively modest footprint. A unique four-foot gap between the upper containers expands the interior space and brings additional light into the home.

The home's layout separates public and private functions across two floors. An open kitchen and living area occupy the upper level, extending onto a deck oriented toward southern exposure and scenic Catskill views. Below, a private master suite provides a quieter retreat connected by an internal spiral staircase. The project exemplifies Steele House's approach of combining industrial-strength container construction with contemporary residential design suited to rural New York settings.

On many Japanese toilets, the hand wash sink is attached so that you can wash your hands and reuse the water for the next flush. Japan saves millions of liters of water every year doing this.

Adriance House - 12 Containers 4,000 sqft Beautiful Shipping Container Home, Maine

The Adriance House in Maine reimagines the possibilities of shipping container construction through bold architecture and thoughtful design. Created by architect Adam Kalkin using twelve recycled cargo containers, the home combines industrial materials with expansive glass interiors, open communal spaces, and strong connections to the surrounding landscape. Its striking appearance and innovative layout have made it one of the most recognized container homes ever built.

At the heart of the project is a philosophy of transformation — turning ordinary industrial containers into a refined and highly livable residence. The house balances sustainability with luxury, preserving the raw character of steel containers while introducing warmth through natural materials, sunlight, and custom details. The result is a modern architectural landmark that challenges traditional ideas about what a home can be.

Highly functional?

Edit: wow this absolutely blew up!

This is just his *living* space, he does have another room that has a small closet for his clothes, a punching bag, a small couch and his office/workspace. This also includes a large drawing table! And a few pieces of art that he and other’s have created. He also does have a bathroom.

I just find it funny that he doesn’t divide the larger room into a bedroom area and an office area, because why put the bed in the kitchen?! That’s the silly part to me.
