The Adriance House in Maine reimagines the possibilities of shipping container construction through bold architecture and thoughtful design. Created by architect Adam Kalkin using twelve recycled cargo containers, the home combines industrial materials with expansive glass interiors, open communal spaces, and strong connections to the surrounding landscape. Its striking appearance and innovative layout have made it one of the most recognized container homes ever built.
At the heart of the project is a philosophy of transformation — turning ordinary industrial containers into a refined and highly livable residence. The house balances sustainability with luxury, preserving the raw character of steel containers while introducing warmth through natural materials, sunlight, and custom details. The result is a modern architectural landmark that challenges traditional ideas about what a home can be.

Finally got this 40ft DDHC delivered and leveled, looking forward to finishing it up, and clearing some crap outta storage
Highly functional?
Edit: wow this absolutely blew up!
This is just his *living* space, he does have another room that has a small closet for his clothes, a punching bag, a small couch and his office/workspace. This also includes a large drawing table! And a few pieces of art that he and other’s have created. He also does have a bathroom.
I just find it funny that he doesn’t divide the larger room into a bedroom area and an office area, because why put the bed in the kitchen?! That’s the silly part to me.
The last picture is the view out of my window into the dorm garden.
The goats don’t live in here. The stalls are used primarily for kidding and isolating sick goats. In late March and early April it can get hot in there but when the trees fill out with leaves they shade it helping to keep the temperature down. The temperature controlled fan and window also helps.
First of all, I'd like to thank all y'all for rooting me on for this year + project. It kept me motivated when I was really doubting myself.
If you haven't seen my earlier posts, I started painting this wall last spring based on a suggestion from u/cheetodustcrust who eyed a rejected wallpaper sample on my original post:

I very sloppily stenciled out the pattern and have been suffering ever since, but it sure was worth it.
Sources: most everything in here is vintage, thrifted, estate sales, etc, with a HomeGoods trip here or there. The shower curtain is custom, based on a piece of vintage wrapping paper I refused to throw away.
Again, thank you all!
