Channel 4, mid 80s, Computer literacy, Milton Keynes.....
I've tried finding information about this, but failed miserably.
I am sure that there was a series, on Ch4, set in and around Milton Keynes, in the mid 80s, that dealt with computer literacy.
It stared a young married couple, he was a bit of a technophobe, she was a school teacher (?) and was quite tech savvy, and her dad was a bit more switched on than his son in law, regarding technology.
It was broadcast on a weekend, mid afternoon, possibly on a Sunday, and dealt with new technology and how it affected everyone's lives.
I have found zero hits on this series, to the point where I think i must have dreamt it.
It can't have been on 5, as it was in the 80s, not 90s. It wasn't a BBC 2 programme either.
Any one remember it, and save my sanity?
Philips K7 personal cassette player (1985)
I'm betting not many people had or desired this model. Forget Sony, AIWA, or Saisho (DSG exclusive), this behemoth of a Walkman outweighed them all, not necessarily in performance.
When walkmans had started only having one headphone jack, this baby kept the second one, principally I think to allow the second listener to help carry it. I think they must have missed off the 'g' from the K7 sliced off corner of the case....
If you look at the tape door, you can see just how much extra player there is. I think the original Sony was smaller.
My dad got given one at a conference he went to in the Netherlands (or Holland as we liked to call back in the day).
I contemplated taking it to school to listen to during break, but I would have definitely got the mickey taken for having such an oversized player.
Olympus u820 - Glich images.
Picked up this u820 as part of a job lot of cameras, and whilst it kind of works, it's coming towards the end of its days.
Time to celebrate the glitched images that this captures. Sometimes it's clean, sometimes it's dirty. It's a lottery.
Olympus FE-270 (2007)
Finally found my xD card and plugged it in and started shooting.
These are a mix of auto, forced flash and macro shots.
The lens seems quite soft in non macro mode. I took these in the golden hour as the sun went down, and the camera is quite susceptible to camera shake, as the exposure times are quite long. All shots SOOC, with some presets used (night and sunset mode)
I'm quite happy with my £1 purchase.
The Kodak I bought at the same time is dead. The previous owner had already taken it apart and unfortunately pinched the screen flex cable and it was cracked.
Olympus FE-270 (2007) - Vinegar & Isopropyl Alcohol to the rescue.
Picked up this Olympus as a spares or repair, together with a Kodak EasyShare 6xxx point and shoot, for a £1.

To her credit, the seller was completely honest about both. The Kodak has a white screen of death, and the lens requires encouragement to extend. It doesn't seem to record images though.

On the flip side, this Olympus does now work. After a little cleaning of the top contacts, it fires up and a cursory examination of the operation of it seems positive.

Only the top contacts were green/rusty, so a little vinegar and some light wire brush work cleaned it sufficiently for life to return. I just need to find a xD card to see if the card slot works.

This model does not support the MASD-1 adapter. 😭
Former Royal Mail sorting office - Newport, Wales.
The former sorting office, in Newport Wales, was reimagined with shipping containers, poking through the external mesh skin of the building.

Vtech Kidizoom Twist+ - Abstracts & Filters
Still messing about with this camera. I like the way you twist the focus ring to dial in the filters and simultaneously apply effects via the ⭐ button. All SOOC.
Panasonic AG-500 TV/ VCR.
I saw one of these for sale today, but in a rather distressed state. This is a stock picture, rather than the one I found.

Digital display counter under the tape eject button, plus a smattering of LEDs next to the main buttons. The standard plate glass in front of the CRT to immitate a flat screen, before they really were a thing.

I don't remember seeing a vertical VHS deck before, but it seems to work well with the proportions of the TV.
Fuji 4800z - Porsche Design - 2001
I am a sucker for this form factor. I have both the MX2700 and 4700z models. This is really just the posher model of the 4700, but the small changes do seem to have improved the handling of its sibling.

It's in a nice enough shape to justify the extra expense, although missing the dock. It came with a battery and memory card, so it's good to go for some shots.

Ingersoll TV / radio / cassette combo
The all in one entertainment box. Ingersoll were well known in the 70s, but seem to have gone a bit down market for the 80s.

This all in one looks quite usable and portable. 4.5 inch TV and a tape and radio. Remote is not for this unit.

CBM PET - Original Colour
I bought this machine a long time ago, and as far as I can tell, this is its original case colour. I've never found out why it was this colour, does anyone have an idea?
One strange thing is that the the PSU did not have a power switch, it was hardwired to be on.
Where the paint was thin/scuffed it was cream being underneath, but as you can see, the inside was painted orange, which would indicate a professional job.
VTECH Kidizoom Twist Plus
I got this camera today, with quite low expectations.
I have a Kidizoom Duo 5.0, which produces pretty reasonable images for the main shooter, but the selfie camera is massively cloudy for some reason. My attempts to clean it have not improved the situation.
This twist (or is it spin) edition allows the photographer to shoot normally, from waist height, and a high resolution selfie, by virtue of the fact that the lens rotates 180 degrees.
2MP, with built in filters and effects. The filters are dialled in from the 'focus' ring, but the effects are selected via a menu entry. Quite frankly this camera series punches well above its weight.
All these images are SOOC.
Fun at FUNLAND / Hayling Island
Oh I do like to be beside the seaside...
Knight & Lee / Southsea
A classic British department store, that has suffered the downturn in physical shopping.
It is waiting to be converted into living space. The Debenhams across the road, suffered the same fate and is part way through it's conversion.
Mavica soft case
I was quite excited to find a Mavica soft case recently, hoping there would be something interesting inside. Sadly not.
It appears not to have been used much, and the shoulder strap was unused.
Bizarrely there was a 16MB SD card in the pouch. I don't know why that would be there.
Having done a reverse image search of the case, it looks to be for the CD models, and not the floppy ones. Not quite as useful as I had hoped.
Camedia C860L Vs D360L
So badge engineering at its finest. Same model, different consumer markets. I'm guessing someone bought the overseas model whilst on holiday, duty free or at a better exchange rate. D=American market.
I like the simplicity of this model. No moving barrel lens and fairly decent case/ lens cover construction.
Having passed up a C750 earlier in the day, I found the C860L for a very reasonable price.
