Recently I was reminded of a show I remember watching in (I assume) the early 2000's, and have tried to look it up but can't find anything. It was a bawdy post-pub 'challenge' type show, a bit like a British Banzai, with short sketches where people would attempt challenges. My guess is it would've been on channel 4. It had a presenter who would introduce each challenge. One of the reasons I think it sticks in my pervy teenage memory is there were bits where women would sit on washing machines and fake orgasms. There was also a running bit with a 'secret' challenge where a man and a woman would go into a room, and they would be panting and groaning (obviously supposed to sound like sex) but at the end of the series it was revealed they were playing ping pong. I'm not bothered about watching it again, just want to make sure I'm not going crazy and inventing TV shows out of thin air!
Hope things the right sub.
I’ve been looking for the name of a UK tv series and have only the following to give from what I can remember:
- Produced somewhere around the late 80s to mid 90s
- The protagonist was some kind of businessman, I thought it was George Cole. If not him, someone similar looking
- What I think was part of the opening credits, was a recall of the beginning of it all. The protagonist (perhaps antihero?) is in a boat on a river, passing under a bridge. At the same time the ashes of an old lady are scattered above him and some of it lands in his mouth. The ghostly face of said departed lady appears as an overlay on screen, cackling as this seems to me she has some kind of possession over him, or at least enables her to haunt him.
I’ve tried IMDB and googling and dreaded AI, but I seem to have either overlooked it or drawn a blank. All help appreciated x
I recently rewatched the sky series “delicious” which ran from 2016-2019 and loved it just as much as I did the first time
It’s bittersweet that it only had a 12 episode run over 3 seasons because as much as I’d adore to see more episodes I think it was a beautifully told story that never felt overdone
Any fans out there!?
Good evening. My name is Kitty.
I could have married, have given gallons of blood, and I can't stomach whelks. So that's me for you.
Wonder if this will go down as well as It's A Sin did! Loved that show (as much as I cried)
So I built this thing called Seldom, it's a free daily trivia game that works exactly like Pointless. One question a day, you try to think of the most obscure correct answer, lower scores win. Score zero and you've found a properly Pointless answer.
Today's question: name a TV show that ran for 10 or more seasons.
I played it this morning and opened with Coronation Street. Scored 10, felt clever. Then put Two and a Half Men, Family Feud, MythBusters, and Days of Our Lives and the whole thing fell apart. Final score 139.
I know one of you is about to drop a Sunday show from 1978 that I've completely missed. Any help is appreciated.
playseldom.com if you fancy a go. Takes 30 seconds to a few minutes to play.
Edit: Just a warning - lot's of spoilers below for today's game
Finished up binge watching The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin. Think it wins by a hair if only because with middle age solemnity setting in can see how Mr. Perrin didn't handle mid-life crisis very well.
Some repeats with Nish, Lucy and Gok.
Michael’s extremely competitive as per his recent House of Games appearances, so it’s probably best that he’s (sort of) asking the questions rather than asking them.
I’m not a religious Pointless viewer, but will catch the odd episode and look forward to seeing how the new co-hosts get on!
From young mine has always been The Dark Destroyer. He’s funny on and off camera, met him a few times and he’s a top bloke.
Hey just curious are they any shows that cover unsolved mysteries in the UK?.
My mum has a big birthday coming up this year and we are organising a big party for her.
When she was younger, she did some modelling and appeared in a music video back in the early 2000s.
She was in a music video for a band called Stamford Amp and the song was called Anything For You. They were a band that appeared on a Saturday morning kids show "The Saturday Show" on CBBC.
There's a version on Youtube but it's poor quality, there is also a behind the scenes of the video but again it's not great quality so I'd love to be able to get higher quality versions so I can play it on a projector at her party!
Does anyone have any ideas where I could try and get hold of a copy of the video or is there anywhere online that might have it?
This is the video and the behind the scenes of it.
