Dallas Bathroom Remodeling - Lakewood Heights #bathroomremodel #bathroom...

Just finished up this master bathroom remodel in Lakewood Heights (Dallas). What do you think of the tile and layout? [Video]

We just wrapped up a complete transformation of a master suite bathroom in the historic Lakewood Heights neighborhood of Dallas, and I wanted to share the final walk-through video!

The goal here was to take a dated, choppy layout and turn it into a clean, modern, spa-like retreat while maximizing storage and functionality.

A few details on the build and materials:

  • The Shower: We built a massive custom shower with a frameless glass enclosure, integrated bench seating, and dual shower heads (including a rain shower head). The tile work features a unique picket-pattern accent wall.
  • Countertops: We went with Vicostone Quartz in "Bendecio" for the vanities and makeup desk—it has a beautiful, subtle veining that pairs perfectly with the paint.
  • Cabinetry: Brand-new, handcrafted gray shaker cabinets with brushed-metal hardware. We integrated a full-height linen tower to maximize vertical storage.
  • Flooring: Large-format luxury tile flowing through the entire master bath space.
  • Custom Vanity: Designed a dedicated makeup desk with its own lighting and mirror layout right next to the shower partition.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the layout choice and the picket tile! Happy to answer any questions about the materials or the remodeling process if anyone is currently planning their own bathroom re-do.

Bathroom Dilemma: Would you rather...?

On a super tight home budget, due to HCOL area. Would love to hear WWYD in this outdated bathroom!

Would you rather 1) keep the original powder blue mid-century bathtub and cover the mismatched powder blue tile surround with white microcement

OR

  1. get rid of the blue tub, replace with a used white tub found on Craigslist of the same size? Maybe keep blue tile or perhaps microcement over it?

Trust me when I say the blues are close, but horribly mismatched. It's making me bonkers. This has to be a DIY - here are a list of things I have considered but are too expensive:

  1. new tile on surround (only). Labor and materials = $10k.
  2. Swapping out the tub (no layout changes). Labor only = $2-4k.
  3. Labor & materials to hire out the microcement installation on the tub surround (only, tub cannot be covered) = $3k.
  4. Tub and surround were painted white when we bought the house. NOT doing that again.

Help with bathroom paint color suggestions

I’m having my bathroom repainted, and was hoping to get suggestions on potential Benjamin Moore paint colors. I was noodling on whether to do very light mauve, but am also entertaining blue or green.

Did the cloakroom and tiled for first time ever, let me know what you guys think!

The old cloakroom had carpet and the sink drain pipe was exposed. Did a channel on the breeze block and now pipe is hidden.
I thought of tiling the wall as well, but chickened out lol. So did panelling instead and painted with eggshell paint. New toilet has the cistern hidden and used c16 for the frame behind and just put the panels straight on it. Pretty pleased with result. Thinking to start on the main bathroom and will take more before and after pics of that.

Advice needed on shower doors.

My shower has two shower head and two jets on each side. So two shower heads facing each other. I need something waterproof at the door seam. Ive been trying to find a double door that meets in the middle with a seal of some sort but I can't even find a double door...

Is what I want something that exists?

What search terms should I be using?

Im also 6'2" so I would assume I need something 76" or higher. 59" wide. Black.

Tile Combo for bathroom?

What do you think about the aesthetic here - blue squares for walls and penny tiles for floors?

Placement of 12 x24 tiles

We are using 12 x 24 tiles on the shower walls and floor. What’s the preferred staggering of the tiles - half off set or one third offset (so every third row is lined up)? And is there any reason not to do this in a shower?

(Fortunately the work is being done by a pro so the number of cuts shouldn’t matter - he was just happy to not be doing a mosaic or penny tile)

This has been a passion project for a while. I sponge painted the entire mural directly on the walls by hand, each mark done individually. I also made the black painting hanging above the toilet myself and put together a mood board before starting to lock in the vision. Included the before, process and after shots. Happy to answer any questions about the technique!

Bathtub and bathroom tiles options?

Gonna tear down 2 bathrooms and redo it.

Please share some inputs on the below:

1.

Bathtub - acrylic or cast iron better?
In the event of future patching when there s cracks, which one makes more sense?

2.

Wall tiles - ceramic better because its easier on drilling?
Floor tiles - porcelain better because its more durable?
What about homogenous tiles?

3.

LED mirror lights - what do you think? Nice, but is it practical?

Any other bathroom reno tips, especially on the bathtub maintenance are welcome.

Thanks guys

Broken vanity/toilet, so tell me what else to update

Budget is $7k USD max. Planning to move within a year, so not looking for a dream bathroom. Like title says, we’ll update the old toilet/broken vanity at least. What else should I consider?

Small apartment bathroom

How would you place bath mats in secondary apartment bathroom?

This will be used frequently and would like a bath mat by shower as M will primarily be using it. But then it’s awkwardly halfway to the toilet and then no coverage on the vanity side

Alternatively thinking about a longer mat by the vanity, but then would need a shower mat that is only used when showering?

Never had a bathroom with this layout and want it to look nice for guests but also functional for us. Would love AI visuals if possible as I’m clearly not having luck with it.

Tile sizes?

I am re-doing my bathroom and plan to use a floral tile on the wall with the window.
I plan to use marble effect tiles on the other walls and floor.
I would like to use huge 100cmx275cm on the floor and wall opposite the window but to save cost and make it easier for plumbing ect I am consider using the same tile but in a smaller size 33.3cmx100cm on the other walls.
Do you think this would look odd?
My thought is that the variation in size could add an extra depth to the bathroom but I could be wrong 😅
