Brand new book has rips

This book (the walking dead compendium 1) has been on a shelf for about a year or so and I just now got around to reading it. Today i decided to see what season of the show the book leaves off on, so I went and flipped around in The back of the book a bit and while looking at some of the cool art I noticed that there was a rip in one of the pages… then I notice it wasn’t just one.. what I think happened is that the spine got stressed somehow and made the glue separate from the pages. Very annoying cause
Now I have to be very careful with the end end pages of a paperback which for me at least is very hard. Also this was a gift which makes it even worse.

Is there anything I could do to preserve this?

While this is probably well beyond a full restoration, I wanted to try to preserve it and stop it from getting worse.

The cover is pretty torn up, and some of the pages have been dog-eared and folded over themselves.

Coauthor? Calling all soccer moms!

I’m seeking a coauthor for my novel. I want someone who has a good feel for today’s prose. Someone possibly already connected with an agent or publisher. The book is written start to finish. It has been reviewed several times. I need some to make it ours.

This story is engulfed in the camaraderie that parents of sports teams share. That special bond of sideline friendship, pool parties, gossip, and a trusted soul. It also follows, loosely, the events of 2017, where Martin Shkreli, aka "Pharma Bro," was sentenced to seven years in prison for hiking an HIV drug up 4000%, from $13.50 to $750.

Retaliation
Contemporary Thriller/ Institutionalized.  (Erin Brockovich meets The Rainmaker.)
A proud mother believes her twelve-year-old son's fervid energy and endless optimism are inspiring enough that when Big Pharm's greed punishes her family, a retaliation ensues.

I’ve written 5-6 novels. Dozens more in the works. 6-8 screenplays. I can share loglines also. I’ve queried so much, it’s disappointing.

What I want is someone who understands what agents want, what publishers want and how to write intriguing eye-catching moments. I’m seeking a win-win for us. A Ying for my Yang. McCartney/Lennon.

Email me for a copy of the manuscript.

Please don’t reply if you have anything to do with self-publishing or pre-published paid services. I’ll take you deep down Alice’s hole. You’ll simply waste both of our time.

Advice on fixing paperback

I have an old paperback book that is starting to fall apart. I am aware of scotch book tape and will probably use that. But first I need to fix the spine. I am hoping someone can guide me on how to it and pages falling out. I’ve included photos.

As you can see the pages are starting to separate from the spine. There’s also a couple of pages that have completely come out.

Should I use archival glue to repair this? If so do I clamp it while drying? Any advice you can provide is appreciated.

Reattaching Cover

I dropped my Bible. I’m looking for advice on repairs. I can use PVA and mull cloth, but I am wondering if I should go for something stronger? It’s about 2 pounds and I read it a few times a day. It fell off the bed when I fell asleep reading.

Someone lent me a book and I ruined a part

The book has handwritten notes from the owner so I can't simply order a new copy for them. What happened is, I tried to clean a spot in the paper cover and accidentally removed part of the 'paint'. It's a small spot, the book has a yellow cover and the spot is close to the spine so it's not immediately visible, but the person is very dear to me. What's the standard procedure for this cases?

Unfamialr with this type of cover

I have a LFL. I thought this was a cute book to read so I grabbed it. It's in a little rough condition and was wondering if I could do anything to protect it for the short time I have it. I'm new to repairs and thought this was a good opportunity to try. I think this book deserves it.

Can this be easily fixed?

This is one of my baby’s favorite books at the moment, and unfortunately because i didn’t put it away properly i think he stood on it and managed to do this, or was just too rough with throwing it around. Either way i’m hoping it can be fixed, so i’m asking here for help on how to do so. There’s also another book that has similar damage on the spine, so I’m hoping it can be fixed the same way. If not, it’s not the end of the world, I’ll just search high and low for replacements. 🩵

Hi all,

I've this book which fell and got damaged. It's almost new but was cheaply done i think. I've looked for tutorials on YT, but didn't find anything useful. How would you proceed to repair this? Thanks all

Book warping

I bought a couple expensive books and they warped to all hell. All of my books have been warping slightly for a while but it hasn't been this bad. What is causing this and how the hell do I fix it? I've tried pressing them under a heavy box but it's done nothing.

Is there some other way to eliminate the bugs that damage books instead of freezing?

I recently started reading a book that I bought some months ago and I'm finding a lot of those little bugs (whatever they are called) that eat the paper of books. I don't know how they arrived to that particular copy, if they were there when I bought it, or maybe they came from my university library, since I used my bookmark on one of their books. I can't use a freezer right now. Does anyone know an alternative method to kill them? Please let me know, I'm not even sure this is the right subreddit to ask this question, but I'm quite desperate.

How do i get rid of these matte smudges

Wet wipes and microfiber doesn't work. The book is new and from amazon it definitely isnt scuffed because rubbing it longer with microfiber definitely clears it a little bit. Maybe industrial oil? Idk

Book bind glue on page fix?

Got this hard cover version of Arkham asylum and I haven't read it yet because the pages are glued together near the spine really bad in some spots. If I just pull the pages apart they tear on one side or both so I need a way to dissolve the glue just in these spots or separate the pages and scrape off the glue without tearing the pages or damaging the bind of the book. Is this just a cheaply made edition of this book? Or maybe the previous owner left it somewhere hot and the glue melted and seeped into the pages a bit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Is acetone okay to use? I was using a guitar pick to just separate the pages and that seemed to be working but the glue is still there and I don't want to get too close and accidentally separate the pages entirely.

Brown dots on book

hey, I was wondering if anyone knows why there are dots on my book. It’s brand new, and this is actually the second copy I got from Amazon after returning the first one for the same reason.

Foxing or mold?

Found this old Shakespeare book at a relative's house. I would really love to keep it but I have no idea if it's safe to keep around. If it is mold, is there anything I can do to disinfect it without ruining the book? Or is it done for?

Can this RFID Tag be removed?

Wouldn't bother if it were on a blank page, but it's literally blocking some dialog. Is there are way to get it off without damaging the page? Preferably using available household item?
