Why does my Mac Pro 2013 Boot Camp Partition keep crashing?

I have a 2013 cylindrical Mac Pro with 1TB SSD (100GB allocated to Boot Camp Partition and 8GB left), 64GB Ram, 12 cores and dual AMD Firepro d300s. Why does Windows 10 through boot camp keep crashing on very basic tasks like opening edge? It might be because of the poor storage, but just checking, as this machine should be able to handle w10 efficiently. Thanks in advance!

iMac Late 2013 (Iris Pro 5200) Core 0 stuck at 100% in Windows (ACPI Interrupt Storm) — Need Help!

Hi everyone,

I’m dealing with a persistent and incredibly frustrating issue on my iMac running Windows, and I’m hoping someone here might have a clever workaround or technical solution.

My Setup:

  • Model: iMac 21.5" (Late 2013)
  • CPU: Intel Core i5
  • GPU: Intel Iris Pro Graphics 5200
  • Upgrades: 16GB RAM + SSD
  • OS: Windows (Tested every version from 8.1 to 11 25H2, installed via both native Boot Camp and OpenCore Legacy Patcher).

Note: Going back to the officially supported macOS Catalina is not an option for me, and patching it to macOS Sequoia runs way too sluggishly. Aside from this Windows bug, the machine performs beautifully for its age thanks to the SSD and RAM upgrade.

The Problem:

After every cold boot, Core 0 of the CPU is permanently stuck at 100% load.

Through log analysis, I’ve discovered that this is an ACPI interrupt storm caused by the Intel graphics driver. It seems Windows incorrectly handles the power management/ACPI functions of the Iris Pro 5200. Since Intel dropped support for this generation years ago, it was never officially patched.

Two interesting clues:

  1. If I uninstall the Intel graphics driver and use the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, the CPU load drops to normal instantly. However, the UI becomes incredibly laggy and unusable for obvious reasons.
  2. If I put the computer to Sleep and then wake it up, the interrupt storm stops, Core 0 drops to normal, and the system runs flawlessly.

Why the "Sleep" workaround isn't enough:

Because Core 0 is pinned at 100%, entering sleep mode takes about 10 agonizing minutes (the machine looks completely frozen during this time). To make matters worse, I experience frequent power outages in my area. I can't just leave the iMac in sleep mode forever; I have to endure this painful 10-minute shutdown/sleep cycle almost every single day.

My Question:

Is there any way to forcefully disable, mask, or reroute this specific ACPI interrupt in Windows?

Has anyone managed to fix this using registry tweaks, INF driver modifications, or third-party tools like Process Hacker or RWEverything?

I would deeply appreciate any advice, pointers, or tools that could help me bypass this driver bug without losing GPU acceleration. Thanks in advance!
