Thoughts on Gadou

Hello!

Lots of rage around Delias, Kostas, and Veerman at the moment, but no one really talks about Gadou.

I was watching a video discussing our transfers and how the squad will line up for the season, and the commentator put it quite well:

he lacks concentration over the 90 and can be a bit positionally unaware, but he’s definitely Buli level at a minimum, especially at such a young age, when it comes to ball-winning, tackling, and ground and aerial duels.

Seeing that, I was wondering what you guys think of him. I’ve noticed he hasn’t really been spoken about much.

What is this Recent obsession of Wanting to Play Maxi Beier as lwb ?

I get he is versatile but still he is an attacker and more precisely a striker at the end of day , I feel he is better in front 3 than he is as lwb especially a permanent lwb and didn't we learn from the adeymi mistake on what happens to a players development if he is to be played too long in a different position altogether I mean even look at what happend Camavinga and his development issues after playing everything excpet a cm for this long.

New Season

Hey All, I stopped watching football for a while and the last match I watched was the Champions league final loss. I am planning to get back to it and been out of touch for a while. I heard that this transfer window was a big one. How is the team looking under Kovac?

Kicker+ | With six Bundesliga signings in the Regionalliga: "If we don't get promoted, something would have gone wrong": How BVB is planning a straight run to promotion.

From the translated Kicker+ article. Original article is in German in the pinned comment:

It is currently only possible to imagine what is destined to take shape on the 30,000-square-meter site on Heßlingsweg in the Dortmund district of Brackel. For now, the area is still occupied by several massive piles of earth and gravel. Yet Ralf Kellermann can already picture it all in his mind’s eye: two hybrid training pitches with undersoil heating, a weight room, a wellness area, offices, and meeting rooms, he lists off. "It’s going to be really good," says the new sporting director of the Borussia Dortmund women's football team with enthusiasm. "This will be our new home." It is a home that BVB is investing heavily in: the projected construction cost runs into the tens of millions.

It will be a few more months before the female footballers can move in. In the meantime, the Regionalliga team is training a few kilometers away at Hoeschpark, near Borsigplatz. The team—last season’s runners-up in the Regionalliga West—plays its home matches at the historic Rote Erde stadium, right next to Signal Iduna Park. The club has already sold 1,700 season tickets for the 2026/27 home matches.

A number that is utopian for the majority of German first division clubs. But BVB doesn't send a normal regional league team onto the pitch. The team of former Bundesliga coach Markus Högner (SGS Essen) has been strengthened so much that anything other than promotion to the 2nd league next year would be a sensation. Kellermann knows this, of course. “We have respect for every opponent,” says the 57-year-old. "But the squad is so well positioned at the top and width that we have to become champions and win the promotion games. Otherwise something would have gone wrong."

Borussia Dortmund has bolstered its squad this year with six Bundesliga players boasting a combined total of over 1,000 top-flight appearances. Jacqueline Meißner, Ramona Maier, and Lena Ostermeier moved to Dortmund from relegated SGS Essen, while Ricarda Walkling and Lara Schmidt arrived from Werder Bremen. Naturally, the standout among the new signings in black and yellow is Alexandra Popp; she moved to the Ruhr region from VfL Wolfsburg alongside Kellermann to begin a new—and potentially final—chapter of her career two divisions down.

Cruciate ligament tear still sidelines Zinsberger

Arsenal goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger is also joining Dortmund. The Austrian, who—like Popp—has signed a three-year contract, will have to wait a while before making her debut in the BVB jersey. She remains sidelined due to a cruciate ligament tear sustained during training in October 2025. "I can vouch for the new signings. They have no airs and graces and possess impeccable character," emphasizes Kellermann.

"The club's prestige and its infrastructure are real assets we can leverage," the sporting director explains regarding the high-profile new signings, making no secret of the fact that these factors played a significant role in his own surprising move. The former goalkeeper wants to shape the team and put ideas into practice. He says: "Everyone is behind us. That gives us a huge boost. I’m really excited about this challenge."

Pushing boundaries in Dortmund

In Wolfsburg, Kellermann had recently hit a ceiling. In Dortmund, however, boundaries are being pushed—take the training facilities, for instance. "We see these two signings as a great mark of appreciation for the work we’ve done over the past few years. It shows us that we’ve done a lot of things right," says BVB Managing Director Svenja Schlenker, delighted with the high-profile arrivals from Wolfsburg, who have quickly settled into the Ruhr region.

Everything is set, then, for Borussia’s push toward the top flight. On Thursday, the Regionalliga side kicks off the new season with a home match against Arminia Bielefeld. BVB had actually hoped to be a step further along by now, but last season they had to yield the top spot to 1. FC Köln II. It was a bitter disappointment for the club, which only committed to women's football in 2020. They aim to reach the top division by 2029 at the latest, but promotion is a must for the coming year.

Verdammt aufzusteigen!

I have the Kombiticket for travel as I am going to the Supercup on Saturday and will be getting the train from Köln. Can anyone let me know which trains are included in the ticket? Is it any train? Would I be able to go from Dortmund to Dusseldorf after the match too? Thanks

Is the Zweitmarkt broken?

I literally always get tickets through it for every match (even UCL semi final a few years ago) but everytime I try to select a seat for the Supercup it tells me that it can’t be selected. Anyone having the same problem?

The Return of the BVB Spirit — Thanks to Lars Ricken & Ole Book, with Guerreiro & Sancho on the Horizon?

The BVB Spirit — Thanks to Lars Ricken & Ole Book
I genuinely think Borussia Dortmund should offer Raphaël Guerreiro a two-year contract. He is available on a free transfer, and I think he could be perfect for that hybrid role on the left, contributing defensively while giving us his incredible technique, ball security and experience.
I have the feeling that, with all due respect to Bensebaini, our football has suffered quite a lot since Guerreiro was replaced.
I also think Guerreiro could complement Konstantelias extremely well. As far as I remember, Guerreiro never actually wanted to leave Dortmund, but Kehl had other ideas. I also remember an interview with Sancho and Haaland where they were asked who the best footballer in the team was after training — and I believe they both named Guerreiro.
What always bothered me was that he never really received the farewell he deserved. The club wanted to do everything “the usual way” and nothing special, even though players had traditionally been given their farewell on the final matchday. It felt contradictory, but unfortunately, that was very much the Dortmund of the pre-Ricken era.
I think Konstantelias might need a few weeks to properly settle in. It is his first permanent move away from Greece, after all. But honestly, what Lars Ricken and Ole Book have already managed to do is incredible.
They have reignited something in the fanbase: passion, excitement and belief.
Because Dortmund has always been at its best when we have technically gifted footballers who make the BVB heart beat faster. Amoroso. Chapuisat. Dede. Rosicky. Götze. Sancho. Guerreiro.
That is the kind of footballing identity I associate with Borussia Dortmund.
And Guerreiro is available on a free transfer. I genuinely believe he would put himself completely at the service of the team and wouldn’t cause problems if he occasionally had to start from the bench. At the same time, I still believe he could play an important role and has at least two really good seasons left in him.
Ricken and Book deserve an enormous amount of credit. They seem to put their egos aside and put the club first. You can see it in the way they work: quietly, professionally, without constant information leaking to the media.
Ricken has brought in a new head analyst and even recruited a highly regarded pitch specialist from England. It feels like he genuinely wants to improve Dortmund structurally, take responsibility and build something sustainable.
For me, this finally feels different from the transfer philosophy of recent years. Too often, we signed players who might have generated short-term applause but didn’t really fit Dortmund’s identity or footballing philosophy. Some were technically limited, some received contracts that were far too long, and too much money was spent on players whose ceiling simply wasn’t high enough.
I don’t want to end on a negative note, though.
I’m genuinely very, very excited for this season.
And I’d absolutely love to see Guerreiro and Sancho return on free transfers, because I believe both could bring exactly what this squad needs: quality, experience and a connection to what Dortmund is supposed to be.
And let’s not forget: when Sancho was on loan with us, he was Man of the Match in several Champions League games. His quality, together with Sven Bender’s integration into the team, was, in my opinion, a decisive factor in our run to the Champions League final.
I’m simply incredibly excited to see where Ricken, Book and this new Dortmund can take us.
The spirit is back. The fire is back. 🖤💛

A short-form on the three big signings

Karetsas: very good read of the game, very creative and quick in action, has a habit of trying too much and losing the ball.

Konstantelios: quick, reactive, good finisher, Jevovah’s Witness and does not take medication- so injury means fucked.

Veerman: great passer of the ball, sluggish in defense, overdoes dribbles, physically weak ie. a more consistent version of Brandt.
