I made a tier list of heroes after 8 years of playing the game.

I always like seeing people do tier lists of heroes. Personally I would love it if TheChad (I think that's the guy that did the thematic progression series?) did a big tier list video on the COTRPodcast Youtube Channel.

I felt like getting a discussion going on the communities thoughts on modern hero rankings. Apologies if I shouldn't be posting this, but I didn't see anything against it in the rules/guidelines.

S Tier is the best heroes in the game. They're common components of "One Decks" (Decks that beat every quest), they're almost always good. They make too many other heroes obsolete. Top players actively avoid using them because of how overused and broken they are.

A Tier are key heroes of S tier decks. They also can show up in One Decks or they do their role so well that whenever you need role X you are always coming back to taking these heroes.

B Tier are key heroes in A tier decks. Decks that are still good, could beat many hard quests, but aren't meant to be super powerful decks. They're very good but in more niche roles.

C Tier are heroes that have a key purpose but that purpose is very rarely needed, or more commonly overshadowed. They might have been key heroes in progression at one point (That's the only reason Lore-findel is on that list) but the game has past them by. They might still be reached for in thematic decks and they can at least do "Something" valuable.

D Tier are the meme deck heroes. Yes they technically do "Something" but it's so finicky of gimmicky that you're really stretching to put this hero in a deck. There's almost no point in using these heroes of other better heroes except to say that you "Can".

F tier is the "Why do you even exists......" tier.

Looking forward to seeing the things people disagree with the most in this list.

Edit: I should say that this is for 1/2 player count. I forgot how different an experience 4 player games are and when you have to use so many heroes without overlap even the most corner case heroes can be useful. Since 90% of games are played 1/2 player I mainly considered my experience in that regard.

How many rounds do you need for an average quest?

Hi, I am playing solo two-handed. I sometimes need a lot of time to properly set up my allies and advance to the next quest card. I heard some people can win a quest in like 3-4 turns, is it normal? I do need a lot more time, so I am wondering if I am doing something wrong or its also a bit deck dependant.

How many rounds do you need for an average scenario to win?

Reprint of the Reprint

Hey folks,

I would like to know when/ If Fantasy flight is going to produce and sell cards of the reprint again. I have everything from the reprint collection except Dwarfes of Durin (german edition). The seller mentioned it is about to come this year, but they told me the same last year. So it seems very strange to me why they ff won't give any clear information, if the demand is so high.

Thank you all and have a nice week:)

Looks like the revised content is still coming in Korea!

Edit: Title: Looks like the revised content will continue to be released in Korea!

Originally, we never had an official Korean version of The Lord of the Rings LCG here, so Korean players basically had to buy the English version if they wanted to play.

Then last year, a Korean board game publisher announced that they had signed a deal with FFG to release a Korean edition of the game, and a lot of Korean board gamers and LOTR fans were really excited about it.

They already ran crowdfunding campaigns for the revised Core Set, The Dark of Mirkwood, and the Ered Mithrin cycle. Production is apparently underway right now, with delivery planned for this fall.

But after all the recent news about the game being discontinued, people here started getting pretty worried. Korean players were just starting to get into the game thanks to the localization, so if everything ended after only the Core Set and Ered Mithrin, that would've been pretty devastating...

Apparently the publisher got a ton of questions about this, so they contacted FFG directly. According to them, FFG replied that there are currently no plans to discontinue the revised content, and that the remaining expansions can still be released in Korean as well.

(Though they also said the old/non-revised content is apparently off the table)

Do you think FFG allowed this because the Korean version was a newly signed licensing deal?

And for existing versions like the English or German editions, would FFG oppose it even if the publishers wanted to make additional licensing or reprint agreements?

Khazad-dum deluxe worth it?

I have the opportunity for the deluxe box only, not any of the other dwarrowdelf expansion packs. Still worth it or not really without the full campaign?

Best expansions outside of RCO

If I were to pay to print a full campaign or some standalone or something, what would be the best place to start? Seems like Haradrim is pretty popular. Any other recommendations? I’d be curious to see a priority list that I can just run through as I get the money to do so.

Is healing 1 character with Warden of Healing an illegal move? The action can't be fully resolved to the extent that the text calls for, so can it not be used to heal 1 character?

About to begin the saga

So I've had the core set and played through it a fair few times. Enjoying two handed solo.

I just got my hands on Fellowship Saga, Elves of Lorien, Dwarves of Durin and Dark of Mirkwood.

Any favourite decks people have been playing they recommend. Have been on Rings DB which has some cool ones, but keen to here people's thoughts directly.

Thinking about starting lotrlcg

How’s the current situation for starting to play LOTR LCG? I’ve started playing Arkham Horror and I really enjoy it. The availability there is a bit limited though, since several sets are out of print.
I really like LOTR and it would be nice to get into LOTR LCG as well. However, I don’t want to hunt down sets that cost a fortune on the secondary market or chase specific “must-have” cycles that are really hard to get hold of.
What would you say is a good base to start playing in a sensible way? What’s your experience with acquiring the different expansions?

Playing progression style for the first time! Is this a suitable deck for A Shadow of the Past? Merely trying to complete the quest, not crush it.

I created a Chrome extension to track which cards I have already used

Hi, I created a Chrome extension that uses the RingsDB API to track the cards in your decks and collection.
When you create a new deck, you can set the active packs and active decks that you use, and it will show an exclamation mark (!) next to cards that are using more copies than you own.

This is the first version, so I might add more features later (like adding custom proxy cards as part of the inventory). Please try and tell me what you think :-)

How many cards are too many for a deck?

So, my wife and I were moving into the Uruk-Hai scenario (Treason of Saruman saga) last night when I realized that 50 cards in a deck were a minimum, not maximum! For some reason I had it in my head that we could only have 50 cards (thank you Arkham Horror and your 30 card limit! /sarcasm). When I mentioned this to her, she went all out on her deck. In the 50 card maximum decks, she would have 1, maybe 2 of everything that would interest her. Very hard for her to focus on a specific strategy for her deck, but that's ok, part of the fun...and frustration...of deck building. Now, she had an open door to include multiple copies of anything and everything that interested her. Her deck size in Uruk-Hai....102 cards, not including boons! LOL. And she kicked ass, particularly given that we only play 2 heroes in that scenario so resources are limited early on.

Interested in hearing what others deck sizes normally are and what are some of the biggest decks you've seen or played with.

Finally finished my custom Storage Boxes

Finally finished my custom storage boxes! I used the templates made by GeckoTH on BoardGameGeek and made the boxes by hand. They aren’t perfect but they are saving me tons of space and look decent.

Shoutout to u/SvennEthir for the helpful (old) posts detailing their process of making their boxes by hand. It was definitely a lot of trial and error.

Now finally time to start playing again..

LOTR LCG large lot for sale

All cards are NM and unplayed. The core sets have been meticulously sleeves as with some of the additional sets. Everything else is sealed. I've taken great care in storing this over the years. Hopefully someone can enjoy the collection. As pictured, all the literature is included. I live in San Diego but will ship as well. $800

What Did You Play this Week? May 11th to 17th, 2026

What scenario(s) and/or decks did everyone play this past week?

What was interesting about your game(s)?

**Weekly Question**

How long do your games run? Do you play multiple scenarios in the same session (or the same one multiple times… when need be)? How does game length affect your enjoyment of the game?

Happy Questing!

Meaning of "control all Osgiliath locations in play"?

I know literally what the card is saying but if an Osgiliath location is discarded as a shadow card, do I have to wait for the encounter deck to reshuffle in order to have a chance to have it in play again? So do I essentially only beat the quest once all the Osgiliath locations have been explored? (meaning having them discarded as shadow cards is bad?)

edit: I'm having trouble understanding how the quest works. If I have one Osgiliath location in play at the beginning of the game and have it explored by the end of turn 2, do I win?

How do you get boon cards?

A somewhat beginner but long time player at the same time, I have the core set not the revised version. And I picked a few revised expansions... I thought I'd start with "The Dark of Mirkwood" expansion since it was the smallest, i read on the manual you can treat it as a mini 2 scenario campaign. I just finished the first scenario but cant see how I can add the boon cards to my deck or how to obtain them.
